@@rustyshadesrestoration I have 3 different sized skillets, a Dutch oven. A chicken fryer, a sauce pan, a muffin pan, 2 corn pone pans, various trivets, all the pot type pans have lids of course. I think that’s all but there may be a few I’m forgetting. I live in Nashville TN USA and between here and Chattanooga TN there is a lodge outlet store. Most of my pans are old, but a few of them are from the outlet store.🤗❤️🐝

1890s! Wowza! This is AWESOME! I thought they just gathered a few big rocks, dug a little hole, started the fire with a little kindling, put the bacon on and someone squatted there, holding the skillet and flipping it every little bit. Hunh! Who knew. lol Of course, I'm just kidding. 😄This truly is a work of art and you made it perfect. After you finished it, I couldn't even find the place where you put the fireproof epoxy! Not Only for Camping. A spirit stove like this would have been used indoors for any small meal preparation that a wood-burning fire wasn't needed for. Especially in the summertime. An individual, couple or family could cook with these spirit stoves rather than lighting a fire which takes hours and would heat the whole house. A fire or wood stove would only have used in the fall and winter or in large wealthy houses with servants and others to feed. These kitchens would be out of the way of the household and would need the fires to bake their own breads. Many middle class households would buy their breads from a local baker and so wouldn't always need the fires.

The government keeps telling us to have a backup storage of various things (food, water, fire wood), as well as some device to make food indoors if electricity goes out. This would be the perfect thing to have. When not used for emergencies, it can jus stand there as decoration :)

Something tells me that last part is supposed to pivot on top of your fire. Directly on top, to smother the fire after use. That must be why there was an extra protrusion that you tried to grind off.

It is the fire regulator and extinguisher. I didn't try to grind off, just to make it smoother the edge.

Very nice refurbishing. I will say, that if you are merely going to use this as a decoration, than it is perfect. However if you have plans to actually use it, the epoxy putty isn't going to last long. And I am not sure I understand the little side protrusion as to what it serves in the design... Thumbs Up!

Thank you Garry. The epoxy it is heat resistant, but of course I can't bet that will last a long time. Of course this will be used as a decoration, I don't think that someone will want to be so classy to use it for outdoors escapades. Cheers!

Now that’s camping in style they don’t make them like that anymore, one tip tho is that metal plate isn’t meant to go on top it’s the extinguisher for the stove.

Thank you! Yes, that's right, I extinguished the fire with it, but I didn't know that should stay away. The pot was more steady on that than without, maybe they were using smaller containers and not so heavy like my "cow pot" 😅 Cheers!

It is heat resistant one, up to 1260 degrees Celsius/2300 degrees F. Nothing can happen. This kind of epoxy/ceramic fibre adhesive exist for a long time already in Europe.

The clay is heat resistant and passed the test. This item will be displayed only, not used everyday, so it is an option. Yours seem legit too. Maybe in one day I will try it. Usually I'm welding cast iron, but this time I wanted to show something else, for diversity. PS: I'm a hobbyist, my intention is to create satisfying videos as main focus, not tutorials. @@rustyshadesrestoration I am also an amateur. And when I don't want to weld cast iron, I braze it with brass or silver solder. In this case (in my humble opinion) it would be easier to insert a piece of wire with a diameter of 3 - 4 mm into holes pre-drilled from the ends to a depth of about 1 centimeter. as a frame and then smear it with what you smeared. Mostly yes, but rich people started camping at the end of 1800s and in the early 1900s became popular. In 1908 first book about outdoor camping was published 🙂
