Ruteng is a small town located in a mountainous area, this town is predominantly Christian and is nicknamed the city of a thousand churches and monasteries. Apart from that, actually near the island of Flores there is also an island called Larantuka or usually called Indonesia's mini Vatican because this small island is predominantly Catholic, and it is usually very crowded there during the Semana Santa celebration.

More about liang bua & the hobbits, apart from what is said in the museum, is the local folklore about "ebu gogo", a group of small cave people that got into a conflict with the locals somehow & got decimated back a few centuries ago. Some suggest that this might have a connection with homo floresiensis & how this might means they have lived alongside homo sapiens much longer than what has been proposed by the experts
