Set in the midst of one of the most corrupt eras of Israelite history, Ruth is a story about three compelling characters. Naomi is an elderly widow who has lot everything and returns to her homeland empty and bitter hoping simply to survive. Ruth is Naomi's young daughter-in-law, also a widow, and a foreigner, who at great personal cost refuses to let Naomi face the future alone. Boaz is the local patriarch-a man of wealth and influence who in this epic tale is given the opportunity to do the right thing, even though the right thing might not be the obvious thing.
In The Epic of Eden: Ruth, Dr. Sandra Richter makes each of these characters come alive. Participants in this study-young and old, men and women, churched and unchurched-will be challenged as they see themselves in these characters and find themselves faced with many of the same questions and challenges. Here is real life, lived out by real people with real fears, real struggles, real hope, and real faith.
// ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Sandra Richter is the Robert H. Gundry Chair of Biblical Studies at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California. She served as a Professor of Old Testament at Wheaton College for the past four years teaching Hebrew language, exegesis, cultural contexts, and “Environmentalism and the Evangelical.” She received her MA from Gordon-Conwell and her Ph.D. from Harvard University's Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations department. She is deeply invested in bringing the real people and real places of the Old Testament to life for both the academic and the lay person. For more than a decade she directed an Israel Studies program for Asbury Theological and Wesley Biblical Seminaries.

Professor , degrees , chair , I’m so glad Jesus didn’t choose the intelectuales of world , this is why theological seminaries today are like cemeteries , this doesn’t scratch where I itch , how does this spiritually apply to people today. Ruth is a story of redemption, of a kinsmen redeemer Boaz who is a type of Jesus Christ -who buys a Field to purchase a bride , the church. It’s a story of though there is tragedy among this family that god is working behind the scenes to achieve his outcome. No matter what you may be going through god is working all things for good Roman 8:28 and we know that all things work together for good to those that love god and are called according to his purpose. Matt 11:25 , ......I thank thee father O lord of heaven and earth , because you hid these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them unto babes. The book is loaded with prophetic imagery and types.

Here is the Will of the Lord! "11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 1 Timothy 2:10-14 (KJV) The corrupted and God-dishonoring "Devil and his angels" will do the very opposite as we plainly see in our above example.
