Such maddeningly snatched interviews on American TV - in which the interviewer keeps pushing away at what were simply tangential throwaway remarks, so you never get into either the interviewee, or much into the work they're there to talk about! Infuriating and frustrating..!!! And I imagine the guests (particularly Brit artists), probably feel the same way - that look: "You mean it's over? That's it? This is what I dressed up for..?? Eight minutes of stupid crap???"

I love Ruth Wilson! She is AMAZING as Alice Morgan (I hope she comes back in season 5). But, is it me, or is this Colbert guy the WORST interviewer EVER?? He spent the bulk of the interview just mocking everything she said as if she was a Martian, or something. I TOTALLY got her point about Cinderella. She is basically enslaved and tortured by an "evil stepmother"- how is that NOT scary? Also, Ruth Wilson never ONCE said, "I think I'm quite evil", so whats up with that quote in the title??

Halloween is a Celtic tradition and happens on the evening of the 31st October in Scotland and Ireland. The “Trick or Treat” BS is an American invention; a cynical demanding treats with menaces, in Scotland we used to go round friends and family Guising (derived from the fact that you put on a disguise to go guising) This involved performing a song, a scene from a play, reciting a poem or some other for of performance to EARN your treat. We also carved our lanterns out of Turnips (that are actually swedes) to make scary Turnips Lanterns. These were much harder to hollow out than pumpkins but, again America took the easy route. Naturally the American version of Halloween was the one that, was more recently adopted in England, where it wasn’t previously a thing. I am annoyed enough about these Americanised versions swamping our own traditions but now we are being sold Halloween as a Season; they are attempting to turning it into something that lasts for weeks! 🤦♂️🤮 As I said earlier, Halloween should just be private preparations for going guising/ receiving guisers before the evening of 31st October then the ritual of guising on that evening. Anything outside of this is unacceptable

What a cheek to laugh at the way many British people pronounce nougat (N.B. Correctly!) and then say herbivore in a francophone pronunciation. Everyone in U.K., who speaks English will always pronounce the H in herb. Likewise Americans use a francophone pronunciation for names like Bernard with the emphasis on the second syllable rather than the first. A personification of the old school racist, sexist, homophobic etc, comedian in U.K. is the late Bernard Manning. If you said his name the way most Americans say Bernard I imagine he might rise from the dead and haunt you .
