Ruthann, I also grew up Mennonite and now attend a non-denominational Bible church. I just discovered your channel and am absolutely loving your videos. One of my favorite things to see you do is make pies! I can just see you whipping out multiple pies with your Mom and Grandma back in the day. You are so speedy! Thank you so much for highlighting the wonderful peace and love that living a life with God gives. You are one of the most joyful, patient mothers I have ever seen. I would love to spend a day with you and your family!

Another Iowa girl here! I was born in Iowa and we moved to Kansas when I was 6 so my daddy could be a Baptist preacher (he is still a preacher at 84 - on 2.3.2025). We moved back to Iowa when I going into my Sophomore year in high school. I went to Bible college near Des Moines and married an amazing guy. We moved to where my dad was preaching so we could serve in a Christian school. Now we are loving Jesus and go to our tiny little church where my daddy is still preaching. Love Iowa ❤️ and this channel & Ruth Ann!!

I had to laugh, “ when you are a mother your time is not your own”. It doesn’t change when you are a grandmother, your time is still not your own. This video came just in time and a great review. We, my husband and I, are picking up a whole beef from the processor that we purchased from my cousin. I requested all marrow bones cut in 6-8 inch pieces. We share this with our two sons and their families. The first thing, bone broth for everyone, then tallow. Thank you for all of your great information you share!

Ruth Ann, you are one busy Momma!! Although, I guess I was too, as I look back and realize that when I was your age I was doing all the things cause as you said, "You're the mom and mom's are there to help whenever we can!" As for beef bone broth, we go to our local Amish butcher south of Arthur Illinois, to buy their beef shanks! I like their meats best and a family we buy farm raised, grass and/or corn fed beef and pork, also take all their meats to them also. Plus, I can visually see their shanks and have them cut to the size I want. I love the shanks and use the meat from them for future beef and noodles, veggie soup, ect. Some can be as large as a small roast, which is perfect for us, as there is only my husband and myself now that all our children are grown, married and raising families of their own now. I must try adding chicken feet to my chicken broth the next time!! I've always heard that it is good but forget to ask my butcher for them! I'm still learning so much, from your videos, even at 64 yo!!

Love your videos. I am a pre-diabetic, and in order to reverse this diagnosis, I need to be on a keto diet. That consists of no in the ground veggies. No starch or grains. Only fruit is berries. As you can imagine, this becomes very challenging. So far, it has brought my A1c down. Would love it if you had any meal ideas. Keep up the great videos!
@pamplant36109 сағат бұрын
You can lower your A1C by eating regular food and not be restricted to a Keto diet. My neighbor was full diabetic and is off all meds by eating a lot of veggies, meat, and fruit, but she cooked all her food in an airfryer. That was two years ago and all her test are in the normal range. Check it out and best of luck to you.❤

Thank you RuthAnn, for sharing how to make some high nutrient beef broth, and also, sharing some precious moments with Winston, yourself, and the kids. So much fun to see him grow big and strong. I'm glad you addressed not grinding your own grain, and I do understand the idea of having control of where your food comes from. I've had a turnaround in my health from eating freshly milled whole wheat and other grains like millet, hulled barley, oat groats, and conventional wheat berries. All of them I make sure are organically grown from reputable sources, and I love the taste of the whole grain bread, and the effects of eating this bread. I haven't changed anything in my diet except that I'm eating this great bread, and my arthritis and energy have really improved. I sleep better, too. I'm almost 75, so am thankful for the changes. I was like you, and didn't think much nutrition was offered by wheat, and kind of bought the premise of the USDA that wheat was not that good for us, and many people were intolerant of it. But I've watched Sue Becker's Healthy Minutes, with the testimonials, and feel convinced that, as with raw milk, we've been hoodwinked by the government when it comes to the nutrition offered by real, freshly milled whole wheat bread. We all have to make our decisions and choices as to what we'll put our time into, and your beef broth looks absolutely delicious!

You are so right…your time is not your own. Busy life but I do love it. That little grandson is a cutie. I LOVE seeing little ones like him opening his mouth to eat (what ever) like a little birdie. So many little tykes these days are fussy eaters and I can’t help think it may come from a parent influence? I used to help my grandma A LOT in the kitchen as a youngster growing up. I love it and learned so much! Yeah, liked that when you come home thinking you’d finish up with the bone broth when you come home ha ha been there many times too. It’s ok it will be there when you get up. Loved this video. Thank you. Also,the ground meat you made in the end I would grind up for grandma and she would make dough, roll it out and cut squares and we would take a spoonful of meat and place it on the cut dough, seal the edge (it would look like a meat ravioli) she would then cook them up in beef broth….Mmmm they were yummy

Ruthann I absolutely loved this video. Such a blessing to see a momma who really loves her family and does what ever is needed at that moment. There were a few times while visiting others and the mom got a call and was needed, I said I'll go and do what you need to do, when her comment was "they can wait I'm busy" I was in shock and left anyway. My family always comes first. I have 2 grown adults and 3 grands. I always wanted a large family but that wasn't in God's plan for me so I'm very blessed with what I have. But when I get that unexpected call this mom is doing what ever is needed. I canned a lot when my 2 were little and have been doing it again now that I have the grands and I love it! I'm so very your channel came up in my feed, I have watched all your videos and at 64 am still learning a lot from each video. Thank you so very much for sharing your life with the world. You are truly a blessing to our lives. Have a fabulous weekend! Take care. Many blessings to you and yours 🙏❤️🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏

Such a simple video and yet I learned something new. I'm not gonna add vegetables to my broth anymore! Thank you, RuthAnn, for explaining that. I love that you feed Winston the same food that you all eat. Have a great week.

My husand and I always enjoy your videos. I was so excited to see you grind your beef after making your bone broth. One thing our family has always done, and it is a family favorite, is to grind onion with our meat and add miracle whip or mayonnaise (depends on which you like). It makes a delicious ground up roast beef sandwich! We also do this with chicken and turkey. I have also froze the meat/onion mixture and thawed later for quick sandwiches on busy days.

If you take your ground beef and add a bit of mayo and some relish, it makes a delicious sandwich spread! It's been awhile since I have made my own bone broth but you make me want to pull out my roaster and get busy!

I made your recipe for hamburger buns. My skeptical hubby actually admitted that he likes them! Gosh you eating the marrow brought me back to my beloved father would stand at the stove picking out the bones to eat the marrow.

I'm so appreciative of all this great information! I'm a 71 year old grandma married to a city guy, so homesteading has never been something we would do. However, I was raised by my grandparents and I learned so much from my grandmother about homemaking and cooking and do many things similar to the way you do things. I learn so much from you and so admire your commitment to nurturing your family and their health and nutrition. I'm going to make beef broth following the steps in this video. I can't wait to see and taste the end product!! Thank you for taking the time to teach us new ways to do things. God bless you and your sweet family!!❤❤

When we were kids before we went camping mom would cook a beef roast then grind it up adding pickle relish & mayo to make sandwich meat. We loved it so much I still make it for us & my sister in law made it as one of their camping staples & she now makes it for my brother to take to work when she has left over roast.

Wonderful instructions for the best beef bone broth that I’ve seen! I will follow these to get a better broth than I have before. 🤗🇨🇦

I haven’t ever heard the temperature not really being low on the roaster oven before. It explains so much as it pertains to my experience using one. I’ve come very close to losing applesauce and tomato sauce because it got too hot while I was out in the garden. I love the volume that can happen in using one while keeping it off the stove. Great video? Thank you for sharing all your wisdom with us.

Ruthann please don’t worry about finger prints. You have kids…it’s gonna happen 😁. That bone broth looked delicious. We are all sick from a four year old peetry dish. I made beef broth years ago to make my father homemade lentil soup. It’s a little of work. And your grandson what a cutie ❤!
