Rutherfordton is the county seat to Rutherford County and has played important roles in the settling of the American frontier, the American Revolution, the Civil War, US History and still sets the gold standard for quality of life in our region. The Town motto is “A Minted Original” stemming from the Bechtler $1 Gold Coin and we believe that high standard of living is forged in true community, a place where people support each other, support local business and truly work together as a team to make our community a better place. The Town strives to provide high quality services with big-city amenities in a small-town shell. Rutherfordton is a truly a small rural
