For me, there is no song like Bestial Invasion. It speaks to me on a primal level, unlike any other. The biggest reason for it is, I think, the main riff. The almost clock-like drum beat that is reserved only for this part and the extremely catchy guitar riff create this atmosphere that can remind of a 'bestial invasion'. Especially the version featured on Live Without Sense. Just, *chef's kiss*. "Hell storms, rush over the earth. Bestial invasion" *face melting riff* If Destruction wrote only this song and nothing else I would still hold them in the same regard. Completely agree with the list, especially number 1. Bra jobbat, fortsätt så!

Still remember how excited I was buying the Mad Butcher EP, it was an extremely rare import and cost a bundle for shipping from Europe (a big deal for an Aussie kid in the 1980’s) played that record a million times all weekend! Then same with Release From Agony when it came out. Good times!

I'd pick "Eternal Devastation" over "Infernal Overkill", but other than that your rating is spot-on. I find their past several albums to be very bland and interchangeable. They need to completely rethink the way they record and produce their albums IMO.

No surprise here! Infernal Overkill is one of the best Thash albums ever made. The solo on The Ritual is overwhelming, must be one of the best things I ever heard. I also appreciate the way Eternal Devastation sounds, it fits perfectly and gives the album a unique atmosphere. And I'll have to check out Cracked Brain once again, it's been a long time ... Infernal Overkill 1st? The Eternal Devastation is the best Thrash Metal in history. I bought this Album in 1987. It was a real shock at the time. People who haven't lived in those days don't know. Eternal Devastation must be number one. Infernal is great album. but third or fourth place is the right choice.

I will agree, Metal Discharge didn't have very good production, but I would put it above a few of the newest albums just because the songs are more memorable to me. Also saw them live on this tour and The Antichrist tour. Had beers with them and Sodom after one of the shows. They are cool peoples.

Agree with you 100% here. Destruction is my favorite thrash band along with Razor. You just can't beat those 80's records and you could put any of those on top and I wouldn't argue with you, but Infernal Overkill really is perfect. When I think of the best thrash song of all time there is only one possible answer and to me that is Bestial Invasion, it has the most memorable riff I can think of and I often find myself singing it haha. But when it comes to Destuction there is one more album besides the debut EP that has to be mentioned and that is Live Without Sense, when It comes to metal live albums there aren't many that I would consider essential, but Live Without Sense definitely is! A band coming off their strongest records and performing them live to perfection. I often prefer the live album over the studio albums because it really has the best of all of those. Schmier was the most evil sounding metal singer back in those days, a true inspiration. It's really a shame that they have fallen into mediocrity in the modern days, I struggle to understand why they keep going for the same uninspired stuff record after another and I'm not even gonna go into the production of those albums... However they still deliver it live and it's always amazing to see them around. Really wish to see Mike back in the band sooner or later.

My fav is Infernal Overkill. Bought it when it first came out. It was my introduction into Destruction's discography. Bestial Invasion is a monster thrash track. Their brief tour with Death, the Death & Destruction tour, was a highlight show of the late 80s. Scream Bloody Gore!

I realize I'm two years late to the party commenting on this video but...as with most of your lists, my Destruction ranking couldn't be more different. 😅 You seem to always rank bands' earliest albums as their best by default and I don't think that's always the case, particularly when it comes to Destruction (and Testament as well, but that's another post for another day). I realize I'm in the minority, but I think their three best, most inventive albums are 1) Inventor of Evil, 2) The Antchrist, and 3) Cracked Brain. I also *really* like Metal Discharge, despite the crappy production. Nevertheless, it's always interesting to see your perspective. Keep up the great work.

I'd actually rank Cracked Brain higher but the production has aged so damn badly on that one... I still love it though. It has great songs and the guitars are just crazy here. Maybe Headhunter's Parody of Life (1990) should get a special mention on here. It was Schmier's band after he left Destruction BUT the songs were originally Destruction songs that they were going to record for the follow up to Release From Agony. I have Metal Forces magazine #38 from 1989, before Schmier left, and he names the songs that will be on the new album. After he left, those songs do not appear on Cracked Brain but do appear on Parody of Life. In a recent interview Schmier said that he has always been the main songwriter in the band. This is most likely why he took the songs with him when he left.

Pretty decent list. I didn't agree with all your picks (mostly the bottom part of the list) but Infernal Overkill is by far their best album. Their early EPs are wickedly good aswell. I agree with you, except for antichrist and all hell break loos I put them on the first place because I'm 34 I started listen to destruction in 2000 -2001 and it was the first album of then that I listen too but I gree with you with the rest

Can't think of another Thrash band where the worst and best album are such clear choices. Would have put Antichrist on the #2 spot as it's the album that got me into them and it's only flaw is that it wasn't released in the 80s. And I also totally zoned out from around Devolution onwards. Just one big stream of the same.
