Love seeing you guys hunt my home state and all the lovely conditions winter has to offer up here! The trick is to not bring you firearms or archery gear into the heat, just keep it covered up outside. I missed an opportunity at the biggest deer I've ever seen when I was 16 to a frozen up 30-30. Moisture will condense on the cold steel and freeze promptly when you go back outside. It's a mistake I'll never make again. Thanks for giving MN some love!

I think hunting with snow camo is really beneficial. I like to use it to sneak through the woods to a treestand if you aren't wearing it the deer can definitely pick you out of the snowy woods. I've not used it for stalking but would think it would help. I know you want to keep your scent to a minimum but I would recommend using a drop of Break Free CLP on your release. We used it in the military on our weapons because that stuff will not freeze up. I'm confident it will fix your issue.

With the frozen release, THAT WOULD SUCK and be exciting at the same time. Wonder if a little shot of WD40 would help the freezing up. I hunt with the doe version in alot of CRP. I can stay upright up to about yards before crouching and mimicking of deer front leg motions need to start. Within 20yds any small movements like ear flicks or quick face turns that don’t happen with the decoy will alert them. All this is in clear to moderate weather. Those decoys work, but take some playing around to find the limits.

Hunting in my home state & the only state I hunt in. I actually washed my snow camo 2day after 5+" of it yesterday. The last day of November would have been worse than that weather earlier in the month. By the end of that video I had another reason I have a thumb release that I keep in perfect working condition in my pocket while I keep my Firstlite gloves tucked away in my choppers that r around my waist. I have found that it is better to have light colored camo on the bottom and darker on top. Ground cover, fallen leaves, weeds, corn stalks, and snow are light colored and low or at the ground level. Tree limbs, pines, cedar trees, honeysuckle all dark colored and higher off the ground. High winds and low temps looked rough for hunting, but you know what they say, bad weather can mean good hunting.

I always loved bohunting in the snow. I have a great set of snow camo coveralls and a full white head/face mask and have snuck up on so many animals it's unreal. Got within 10yrds of a bedded doe once and when she popped up she looked at me like I wasn't even there, just quietly walked away.
