You can tell Ruud draws inspiration from Rafael Nadal because the way he is playing on clay now heavily resembles the way rafa hits the ball.. I'm mostly impressed by Ruud's game this year's Roland Garros and hope he'll be able to win RG this year.

Highly entertaining match. Many differences between those two but the one that struck me the most on a technical level was the overhead. Ruud, a classic clay court player with a mainly defensive baseline game, hit every overhead with precision and won the points while the more aggressive, power player Rune hit relatively weak overheads, not fitting of his talent or ranking. It just shows that some things are a matter of focus, practice and being serious towards yourself and your game.

Casper is at home on the clay, hopefully he can become a mini king of clay, I rate him highly. If he ends up playing Djokovic or Alcaraz he will have to play deep to the court, otherwise those two will eat him up. I backed him to win the title from the start, I still think he can do it if he plays smart and Zverev will be no easy match either. He plays similar to Rafa on clay but he doesn't use the slice much like Rafa and Rafa's backhand is better but he's learning and improving all the time.

Rune played the worst hour of tennis in the first two sets, it was so painful to watch. Then he finally showed up and played his A game but still made some bad decisions in the fourth, plus the serving really let him down in this match. I thought he’s come a long way since last year in terms of mental game and maturity but obviously he still has a lot to learn. Ruud was just very solid and he surprised me with some great defence. I also like his personality, unfortunately his tennis is quite boring and I don’t think he can do any damage to either Alcaraz or Djokovic. I hope Zverev wins the semi, it would be really good for him after last year’s terrible ending.

In the first two sets, Rune continued his bad play from the previous match. After that, he and Ruud were even in most aspects - the deciding factor being Rune's poor serving (a first serve percentage below 40 in the fourth set is disastrous against a guy like Ruud). All in all, we haven't seen a Holger Rune at his very best in this tournament.
