What a performance by Novak at the age of 36! Now, everyone should just take a deep breath and think how hard this is at his age! He is a different kind of a beast from all other tennis players, he is of his own kind! A mental giant and a great Master! No matter if you support him or not, all of us should put our hats off and admire his greatness! And yeah, sorry for the Alcaraz cramps, but it is a matter of someone's physical state and preparations done. It was too tough match for Alcaraz and that's why it happened. Will be better, he is young. He will have a great future. Now, hats off to Novak! As Andy Roddick once said: "He first takes your legs, then your soul." ;)

of course there is not excuse there ....every player can give all for 1 or 2 or 3 sets but this game can go to 5 games...so in order to stay to the balls he hits the ball with all his power and runs crazy for every ball i knew this before the game and thats why i said novak is gonna win and actually i even guessed that his legs would give up...if he doesnt learn how to play more softly with strategy will fall always to djokovic in best of 5 or any other great player just now there are not many others than novak or nadal...he is not even close to these kind of levels and is a very bad guess from all the tennis expert considering him favourite and actually is also disrespectful to Novak who abciously was laughing hearing everyone he is the outsider

Novak has had countless battles throughout his career, he's physically and mentally hardened by it. Obviously, he also had to battle hassle crowds all over the world as well which makes him even more admirable! And his childhood was a horror show with war and bombing. The media does a hit job on him and his family whenever they get the opportunity! It's mindboggling that someone with so many disadvantages can succeed and be so great against all odds!

We have to admit Djokovic has an insane physical for having 36 years old. With a player against him in a match you have to play in the limit of your physical conditions and Alcaraz suffered the consequences. It was a pity because the match was having an amazing rythm in the second set.

Novak has been treating his body and soul better than any other tennis player, better than most people. First two sets were intense for both. Carlos was pushing his body more than he could handle. Novak was also on the edge, but right there we can see what treatment each one of these champions are giving to their bodies. Novak has learnt that over the years, and Carlos needs to recognize when to slow. It is incredible what kind shots he manages to return into opponents field, but to be honest I dont think all of them matters that much. He is like that fastest dog in the park who will always catch the ball first even though he might break his own neck catching it :D Maybe that was part of Novak's tactic, to try exhaust him as much as he can. Huge respect for Carlos for not surrendering, and walking over. He didnt want to diminish Novak's apparent victory, even though it feels like it is diminished with this outcome. As every other tennis fan, I was hoping to see 5 hours battle, and Carlos is not quite there yet. He is demolishing pretty much every other player on tour within 3 hours TOP. But not Novak. And that is the reason why this victory Novak should celebrate like it lasted 5 hours. Cheers everyone!

Better win them all this year while he can, cos next year Nadal's gonna come back in his final farewell year and win all 4 grand slams and retire on 26 GS. Which will leave Djoko needing at least 2 in 2025 to beat Rafa, which will be tough as he'll be suffering injuries like Federer and Nadal did, and players like Alcaraz will have learned by then that drinking water is a good idea to stop cramps! lol I hope Novak wins the final on Sunday as I bet him at the start of the tournament as I couldn't believe he wasn't favourite to win with Rafa out injured. I got good odds because the bookies had Alcaraz as 5/4 Fav, Djokovic 5/2. Alcaraz is really good but to put him above a 22 time GS winner seemed a tad silly. Now I just hope Novak doesn't screw up the final against Ruud like he did back when he lost to Wawrinka in the final

I'm a huge Djokovic fan but I thought Alcaraz was going to win based on form and age. Eventually age will happen and I thought this was the time. I was surprised that Djokovic won the first set and that he had the power to take it back to Alcaraz, especially on the forehand crosscourt. After the second set I thought Djokovic would pull it out. They were too even for it to be Alcaraz' time. NOW I think Djokovic will win Wimbledon. I don't think Alcaraz will get to the final on grass. The US Open could be very interesting this year.

I was watching the match at Philippe chatrier live, and both men were struggling at the end of the 2nd set under very hot conditions. Nole being more experienced took a nice long break at the end of the 2nd set, cold shower, fresh clothes, and came back after a good 5 minute break. Carlos on the other hand stayed in the sun and on court, and paid for it. The more experienced senior knew how to turn it around by just catching his breath and after that, it was just a matter of letting alcaraz run through his emotions.

I don't think you understand the game.... its not like his calf just cramped out of nowhere. Alcaraz is playing like a car being pushed to its limit, 8000 rpm revs... eventually it will blow. Novak has learnt to cruise between 4,000 and 6000 revs and not blow his engine. Carlos will learn from this and improve, but he was never going to beat novak over a 5 hour match at RG. His style is too demanding and his body is not yet ready. Even if he hadn't cramped then, he would have cramped at some point. Djoko is the master of controlled aggression, deep hitting, pace redirection and energy conservation. Alcaraz is not yet flexible enough nor does he know when to leave balls. He is a heavy mover, sprinting for every ball, hitting every ball as hard as he can. He tires himself out. If you have ever played tennis, you will know how tiring it is to hit every single serve as hard as you can, and hitting 90 moh forehand every time when your opponent (ie Novak) is just easily using your pace back at you or hitting slower balls back to you. It is not sustainable. Novak will end his career with at least 24 or 25 majors (another Aus and 2 Wimbledons) BUT Alcaraz will have an amazing career once he matures & learns to conserve energy & work on his fitness

Two of my three favourite tennis players (the other being Rafa). I always stated that Novak was the favourite to win, even if slightly, and even though Carlitos had the weapons to beat him. Still, Novak is Novak, the GOAT and a true brutal force. What Carlitos experienced today, Nole himself experienced hundreds of times, and then he overcame everything. Carlitos will surely learn from this 'cause he has the mentality and honesty to do that. Right now, the present belongs to Novak Djokovic slam-wise. Amazing inspiration.

@Senso Sinner and Rune have so much talent themselves but I do think they lack that special streak Alcaraz has. The lost 3 of Zverev, Tsitsipas and Rublev are doubtful to ever win many slams if any, even though they're successful outside of them. Medvedev is very good but not an all-court player and Ruud is pretty much the same but lacks the steady mind of Medvedev.

Please, think better your comments before typing them. Plus he has won one GS with 5 matches and 4/5 sets. No sense comment, cramps came to him for an insane pressure for beating the best tennis player in history, something that a few or none have experienced before in tennis history, cuz there is only one Djokovic in history and after watching him player against Alcaraz you understand why.,
