Ok, designed with bikes in mind. I'm sold!! Lol. I'm a long way off, but that is a requirement for me to fit a full size mountain bike inside whatever I buy/build down the road. Now just to finish my ppl and build some hours and get a tailwheel endorsement, and downsize so I can afford it....hmmm. My 150 will not fit my bike, even taken completely apart.... Love the innovations you guys are coming up with. The gear is really cool.

@@garyfischer4357 While the barrier to ownership comes at a price. It's the value is, the long term ownership. I can say the same idea towards owning a new pick up truck, so I'm keeping my 25 year old truck and saving to buy a RV 15. Try buying a new Cessna 172 at $500,000. That's the rub for affordability.

I agree, Dave. This airplane is a home run! And I like your idea about flying it from the right seat. It’s not unheard of to set an airplane up that way. Siai-Marchetti’s solo from the right. T-37. Bell helicopters. A good friend of mine built an SX-300 and set it up for right seat PIC. Just put the flight instruments on the right. That way you can fly with the stick in the proper hand and tune radios without switching hands. The only thing you lose is the ego factor when you taxi up with a passenger and people think the left seated pax Is the PIC. Woooo, I hope I could stand the depression that would induce, lol. After seeing it at OSH, I told my wife I would consider building one. She couldn’t believe what she heard, as we have a C-180 and I lean toward dope and fabric work in my shop. The airplane is impressive. And if Van’s ever supersized it… RV-16… it would turn the 180/185 world upside down!!! (Something that needs to be done if you’ve seen the prices in that fleet lately. Nuts.).

How did you get these amazing shots? Some look like drone footage but that would be a pretty amazing drone. For example, the drone pilot would be joined in a diamond on that last shot in the video. Is that it? Is it a towed camera? In any case, it's gorgeous work.

If you guys make an extended leading edge slat and VG kit you’ll be giving kitfox a serious run for their money. And if a 4 seat option ever comes along they will crush the 180 on the Alaska market. I can’t wait to build one of these someday.

The kit will be finished drilled and assembled with pull rivets. It's a production magic trick that will reduce assembly errors and make it more accessible. Saw it 2022 AirVenture, it's a good balance of practicality, form and function. They are shooting for kits 12-18 mos.

Fingers crossed the final version will seat 2 adults and 2 kids and have an easily removable backseat. These days it seems like Vans is picking up where Cessna left off and stagnated. I can't wait to do a build.

My guess is this will push a 360-420 with minimum 180 max 235hp I think they will be beefy back country planes especially with how big it looks like it is

Wide landing gear is a plus, especially in high crosswinds, on high-wing aircraft. These look pre-Land-O-Matic Cessna width.

For distance records could you operate with wing tanks AND the passenger tank since the engineering is already done? Maybe even add external drop tanks and a bladder tank in the backseat within weight limits and center of gravity, of course. That would be incredible. Maybe get Transatlantic or to Hawaii. Just a dream so far.

Struts but no folding wings. Pulled rivers like a lite sport. So it’s a 180 with better suspension. Hope your name sells some. This is not your comfort zone and the competition is way tough. Best of luck.

The 180 with better suspension. Twice the price for half the stol capability as the competition. Congrats. No folding wings. Fat and heavy with pop rivets. Made for the few pilots who want to carry their family to the bush and spend a week. Not sure R.V. has a winner with this one.

Just got back from OSH people were pouring all over the 15 and its a nice plane but its not really a 4 seater maybe a 3 but why build a 3 when a four would be so much better so you can take back seats and haul 400 pounds

Please make the wing strong enough to accept bolt on wing extensions (like wing-x), for when it is on floats. They are easily removed when on wheels, so you can fit in a hangar.

That would make it 42 feet wide, wouldn't fit in T-hangar. And it would also make it 6-8 inches wider than a 182. Not really very practical.

I think you might be mistaken about that. I think they are saying all the right things. This is an engineering test vehicle, so they plan to make improvements. So far, the landing gear and cabin look right for bush work. Let's see what it'll do.
