This Vivaldi piece is so beautiful. And what an incredible performance by off the chart amazing soloists and instrumentalists. And whoever played the piccolo trumpet, my hat is off to you, you rock! The conductor did wonders with the balance of the instruments and soloists bringing out the harmonies and suspensions, and also seemed to be playing with the volume and balances between instruments on the 1st 3rd and 5th notes of the chord on the cadences and where where there was slower harmonic rhythm. It was delightful! I listened to it 2 times in a row. This was my first listen to the Vivaldi Gloria RV 588. I was searching for the Vivaldi Gloria RV 599, the more familiar one which I once accompanied with Hight School choir. It was my very first cantata accompaniment. Thank you so much for your performance.

This setting of the GLORIA is just as beautiful, if not more than the other famous one. The incredible chromaticisms of "Et in Terra Pax" show the degree of devotion that Vivaldi had- so profound! WIsh more people were interested in this side of the Red Priest!

Vivaldi wrote two versions of Gloria that have survived -- this RV 588 and the better known RV 589. See the Wikipedia article 'Gloria (Vivaldi)' which will give you an idea of what the story is here.
