We camped at Monck in the 1970's at the end of the season. The main entertainment seemed to be throwing axes at trees. We did not feel safe and bailed. Have never been back. Phoned the visitor centre at Manning and they said Mule Deer is repaired. Will have to check it out. I hope you get that mouse. Nancy

It seemed quite nice now and the campground contractor seems very active in keeping everything that way! 50 years or so later one would hope so! We have friends at Mule Deer right now so glad to hear all is repaired! No luck on the mouse so far…maybe it stayed behind!

Appreciate you watching and so glad you enjoy! As for Monck it was our second visit (last maybe almost 5 years ago) and as we noted, we really enjoyed.The two eagle sightings (likely the same one on two different days) made it even better! 🚐

Loved that campground. Except for the baby ospreys that wouldn't stop calling for food at 5am.

Up at 5…Sort of like me (Gordon) 😊. It is quite nice and in our case…quite quiet, but likely a different time of year!

I had never heard of Monck Park so thank you for the info and great tour. It’s very scenic and the campsites look spacious. I’m craving samosa’s now, nummy! Love your channel.

Yes, we quite liked it! Must like sun though… most spots have some shade, but not a lot. Our solar panels recharged the batteries each day.

Great video, had all your regular tidbits. Looks like a wonderful campground, nice to have so many to choose from. Nice to see Finch warming to the vanlife, complete with mouse experiences. We use similar traps, peanut butter is our bait, very successful. Great views on your hike! Where to next?
@hikenrv Жыл бұрын
🙏 Yes, Finch seems to enjoy…at least for a few days! Peanut butter our choice as well, but nothing so far so hoping Finch was successful in scaring our little guest out the back door. No formal plans…just finished a camping trip in the snow though (van left behind). Wishing you guys safe travels on your next adventure!

To your rodent hitchhiker: we have had good luck with a spray bottle, water and a few drops of peppermint oil, spritzed on and under the engine bay, etc. we always seemed to get mouse issues until we started this, so far, so good. Just pulled our teardrop onto the driveway, slower than usual for us getting going this year due to medical tests, procedures, recovery times, etc. Good news? I still look good and all tests, biopsies, etc say zero cancer. No real bad news, I seem to be on the right side of the dirt.

Appreciate the tip! And so glad to hear things sound positive health wise!

@@hikenrv Upon re-reading I wasn't very clear...the peppermint oil isn't to kill or trap rodents, it is to repel them from entering in the first place.

We bet that list is growing! You can use that new Packraft too!
@shawnahansen8597 Жыл бұрын
@@hikenrv ohhh we had a bit of a pack raft fail the first time out - water was rushing in and we had to go back to land when I was sitting in around 5 inches! Called the manufacturer (who were great) and they brought us some tape to close up some of the flow through holes in the bottom. So we need to test it again but just haven't had time. But hopefully it stays dry since our next adventure will be the Interlake region in Cariboo. Lots of incredible lakes there (Bridge Lake, Sheridan, and Lac Des Roches!! You know any excuse to stop at the food truck for a samosas and hot dog. BTW, if you want good local samosas Dunbar Pizza sells 2 for $5.00 and they are homemade !!

Hi Micki and Gordon, looks like you had a great stay at Monck. We have yet to camp there but it is on our list. Thanks for showing where the trail starts just outside of the park entrance. Looks like Finch might be slightly more interested in going outside than last year. Happy & safe travels to you three.
@hikenrv Жыл бұрын
We did enjoy! Not too hot, so that helped as well. Yes, Finch seemed more interested in being out, but not too much fortunately. Only if we were with him. Safe travels as well! 🚐

Beautiful spot! Sorry the mouse kept you awake but at least it was entertaining for Finch 😅. Good to see how well he has settled into van life and actually good that he’s a bit cautious about going outside. Great shots of the eagle and osprey.
@hikenrv Жыл бұрын
Finch seems to enjoy the van and does seem to miss it a few days after being home. Felt a little sorry for the eagle; two mornings in a row being chased away by a crow! We are hoping the mouse stayed behind..no luck with our traps so far!

I wish I could go camping to some of these places but I need support as have some issues and disabilities. Because I am on disability I have a camp form that allows me and 4 adults to camp for free in any BC Provincial Campground. I have my own tent and stuff. Just need someone to travel with . I use a walker. Would so love to meet you both

Thanks Shannon; agree it would be wonderful for you to be able to get out. Perhaps someone who watches this video and reads comments may have an idea of how or if there are organizations to help. If we hear of something that may fit for you we will reach out. Appreciate you watching and hopefully one day our paths will cross!

We purchased ours from a company called EuroCampers (www.eurocampers.com/2014--2023-Ram-ProMaster-Airvent-Cab-Window-Inserts--2pc-set_p_1101.html). Covered in previous videos, but in short we have found quite helpful, especially in rain or wanting to cool the cab area but keep out bugs.
