RV DIY Reupholster Fabric Trims or Cornice

When I decided to give my camper trailer a makeover, I was stumped by the fabric covered trim that was all around my dinette, and also a cornice over the door. At first, I thought to just remove it, but that was not a possibility as it was holding things together! LOL. So, I reupholstered it. I filmed the whole process.
Enjoy!

I was considering painting the fabric on that dining booth back-lip in my hybrid. Glad I clicked!

Button covers in various sizes are available from Sailright. Easy snap together with your fingers or use a tool. They have You Tube videos on how to use them. This is a great video.

Wish I had seen this over a year ago. I only had the kitchen window and door valance to recover. I super glued most of it and hand tacked the fabric. I mixed up a coordinating color and painted the buttons. Loving your husband's humor and head lamp- exactly what mine would use! It all looks so complete. Very nice.

You're a definite inspiration. We just got a new to us Pop up to start exploring Florida, I want to bring it from the 2000's to the 2010's. So a little paint, material, bedding and flooring should do it. I've seen a few of your KZbins and I appreciate your thoroughness and detail.

You and Hubby sound like a lot of fun! The fabric snaps would have had to be made from new upholstery snaps, not hard but fiddly and the old ones blend so well I don't think it would be worth it. Thanks so much for the inspiration and for taking the time to make these videos.

Hi Amanda, yes, we do have fun with these projects. I’m lucky he’s so easy going. As for the button covers, I just read a comment suggesting painting them. What a good idea! I was lucky that mine went with my new fabric. Next time if they don’t, I’ll paint them. Uh oh...did I say “next time?”...no next time...lol...I love this camper.

This is so helpful! We have an older camper trailer with lots of this molding and I'd love to re-cover it! We're thinking about upgrading to a new camper (new to us means 10 years old instead of 25!) but my inner frugal gal thinks I can fix ours up! I'm enjoying your videos!

Lol! All my stuff is old. I think I would have a hard time with a new camper that doesn’t need any fixing up. Lol. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I love your remodel on your hybrid...just a little FYI you may be able to find fabric/upholstery paint to change the color of the button screw covers to better match your beautiful fabric. Just thought I would pass that on to you. I am really enjoying watching your videos.

Ah! Have you thought of painting the button covers? I think that is what I am going to do for ours, but I have not decided yet. We are also missing one or two so I need to find replacements. Good job, thanks for the video!

How many yards of fabric did you buy to complete this project? I'm currently renovating my 2009 Puma Travel trailer and I'm about to start the window boxes and dinette seats. So I'd love to know about how much fabric I should buy to begin my reupholstering adventure 😁

Hi Brittany, it’s going to depend on how big your cushions are and how wide the fabric you choose is. I attempted to show how I measured in this video, and I recommend getting some extra, it’s nice to have some options for pillows and such. Good luck!! And, happy camping!! I also showed some cushions I recovered in my latest camper, you can find that in my “trailer Tuesday” playlist. 😀 kzbin.info/www/bejne/bH3cqIKErLiSp5o
