I just talked to my septic pumping guy, and he said doing this can ruin your drain field in about 3 months. It's too much sewerage all at once, and the RV deodorants etc kill the good bacteria in the tank. It has to do with what happens to the effluent in the tank. There is stuff that needs to float until it is digested by the bacteria, and stuff that needs to settle to the bottom. In between is the clear "Effluent" that heads to the drain field. When you dump 40 gallons of black then 40 gal off gray it stirs the whole tank and wipes out that delicate balance of what is floating, and what has settled. Solids then will run into your leach lines and clog it up. It is the bacteria in the tank that makes it all work. So, never use RV deodorants, and Dump maybe 20 gallons then wait 15 minutes, and dump another 20 gal. Never dump into the lid of the septic tank (it stirs everything up). Use a sweep (not a tee) when you tie into the line that runs from the house to septic tank. BTW: That is why none of this is per code.

I agree 100 percent. Septic system arent meant to get 30 to 40 gallons of water in it at one time.

When I sold the home I had the septic inspection and it was perfect. I didn't flush any deodorants or standard toilet paper in my system. Keep in my mind septic was on acreage so what you are saying is completely possible on a smaller system in a smaller area. Also my system was a gravity system and I had a little slope on my leachfield.

What type of chemicals do you use to dissolve toliet paper etc? I heard it could be bad for septic tanks. It's good to know you have not had any problems.

William, I use the same septic safe toilet paper in the rv that I use in the house. I have not had issues with my septic system and never had any pump it. Don't believe the labels on toilet paper when it says it's septic safe, you have to do dissolve test in glass of water. I can give you the brand I use if needed.

Doing the tank flush with the tank closed could lead to black water coming out of the toilet if your not careful
