2021 FIRE PREVENTION WEEK IS HERE. MAKE SURE YOU ARE PREPARED IF YOU ARE SUDDENLY AWAKENED BY YOUR SMOKE ALARM OR CO DETECTOR! Sue and I have been full time RV since June of 2017. Over the years, we have learned from other RVers, as well as all the vlogs and blogs that WE follow. We ARE NOT fire professionals, and you have to learn what is right for you, your pets and your family. This video shows what we have chosen to do. We discuss various types of fire extinguishers, their placement, the hazards of propane to protect against, tire safety, various fire suppression systems available, the importance of interconnected smoke and CO detectors, our diesel hot water/furnace and the maintenance you need to do on your transfer switch.
We discuss the second leading cause of RV fires, the propane refrigerator and the importance of the Frid Defend by ARP control module product. (We have no affiliation with ARP) We show the inexpensive LED lights we have added to our window egress area, as well as the "almost" impossible task for many of us "older folks" getting out the tiny, high up, escape windows installed in many RVs.
Make sure you watch the end of the video for "Our Solution" to getting out of the small window in our rig, positioned above a thin dresser ledge, that only an athlete with great core muscles could get out of feet first. Going out "head first threw the window" might sound like a great plan now,........but 5 seconds later you may have changed your life forever with a severe injury.
