Great work John trouble shooting the fuel supply issue to determine that the problem was before the fuel pump and replacing the fuel line to get the Onan working again! 👍

what do you do when the generator won't start after having bad gas run thru it?
@JohnCRV Жыл бұрын
You will need to clean the carburetor very well. Drain all lines.

You probably wont see this being over a year for this video but just in case. Im having the same issue. So if i follow your video a crack in the fuel line between the tank and pump will cause this? and why does it leak? Is it because it doesnt have a prime there is no fuel in the line?
@JohnCRV Жыл бұрын
Hey B Daddy, It depends which hose is cracked. If the fuel line sucking fuel from the tank is cracked it will leak but eventually will loose prime and therefore no fuel to the gen... if the return line going back in the tank is cracked then you will constantly leak fuel but most of the time the generator will keep running.... I'm editing the video for the permanent fix, I drooped the tank and replaced the damaged fuel line... Probably upload it in a few weeks if nothing comes up.

Thank you for the reply. From what I can see, there is only 1 fuel line coming from the main gas tank, no return lines. I have replaced carburetor, fuel filter, and fuel pump, I also make sure the main gas tank is full. I was told it will not run if main tank drops below 1/2 tank. I have never seen or smelt gas leaking. Also when i take line from carburetor and prime it nothing comes out, just sounds like air. Thats why i think this may be it. Once in a blue moon the generator will start and run for a couple of hours and then act like its running out of fuel and die only to never restart. I came across you video and almost sounds like it could be my problem? Not sure but its the last think i have not checked...

@@bdaddy355 There's always a return line, its probably hidden behind something where you cant see it.... The generator on my motorhome will shut down if the fuel tank goes below 1/4... When you take the line off from carburetor and prime it nothing comes out, just sounds like air... That tells me your pump is working but the air that's a sign of sucking air from a broken line or fitting OR the fuel line can be getting clogged enough to block the fuel.... I'm not a generator expert but from my past experience with these generators I think its a line or fitting issue. Another test you can try; disconnect the hose from the tank at the pump and get a 2' hose and connect it in it's place, then get a gallon of clean fuel and stick the other end in it. Your basically bi-passing the hose coming from the tank... if gen starts and keeps running, your issue must be that hose coming from the tank.
