I’m using this method myself. Only question I have is what do you do with the OEM awning light wires. How do you terminate the circuit?

In this scenario we tied our warm white diode to the existing awning wiring. This way the customer can still use the existing switch to provide warm white. Give our technical support a call: 800 847 1359

I’m going to be using the power converter with the RGBW string so I won’t be using any of the existing wires. Thanks!
@BoogeyLightsLEDs11 ай бұрын
@@Mi_Tony in that scenario; you wouldn't need to alter the OEM system at all. Our power lead from the LED strip connects to the control module - the control module connects to the power converter - and the power converter plugs into your 120vac outlet.

@@BoogeyLightsLEDs thanks for the help. I guess I’ll just pull the OEM strip off and cut the wires and cap them off. I plan on running the wires down the awning arm and I have an outlet in front storage compartment about 6” away where I plan on plugging in the converter. It’s what I did on my current trailer. Only difference is it did t have any OEM LED’s. Again, I appreciate the reply. 🙌

@@Mi_Tony no problem at all. We'd mount our strip to the RV side itself; leaving the existing in its track. Give us a call with any questions: 800 847 1359

Hey there, been looking at this product of yours. I have a 2021 Aspen Trail 17BH. Have you done an install on one of these? It has a place for a rocker switch on the control panel labeled exterior lights, but it is a blank basically. Just wondering if the wiring is there to do the install, or if it has to be wired. I am hoping the wire is there running to the awning.

So you need 12v to the strip and 12v to the controller?
@BoogeyLightsLEDs3 жыл бұрын
You just need 12v going to the controller. The controller then connects to the lights. Hope this helps!

I have a 2020 Cherokee wolf pup FQ . My awning will not extend it was going slow, and now there is no movement . I went out to the awning arm, and pushed it in word, and when I did, it blew the fuse for my living room, and my LED strip when I out. Do you think they’re both connected to the same issue a wiring problem maybe

Is there any way that these lights can be mounted to a channel? I have an older RV, and I would like to come down a few inches below the awning. Id like to drill into the channel directly behind the lights into my control area inside my camper. I'm also wanting to use the channel to route another wire, not intended for lighting. I assume the power leads for the lights can be bent 90 degrees to go into a wall directly behind the lights?
@BoogeyLightsLEDs3 жыл бұрын
Yes, we offer an aluminum channel with optional opaque diffuser: www.boogeylights.com/mini-t12-aluminum-led-strip-channel/ - However, the channel only comes in 39" or 78" lengths and is typically used for commercial applications. You could source a channel elsewhere as long as it is at least 1/2" wide. The power lead can be bent 90 degrees to enter the wall; just leave room as to not pull directly on the solder joint when entering the RV. Almost any awning can be moved an inch and it’ll be fine. Don’t worry too much about placement when the awning is in.

Is there a way to install these without drilling?
@BoogeyLightsLEDs3 жыл бұрын
Yes, but it would typically involve using a quick-disconnect plug on the end of the power lead for the LED strip. This would require plugging in the controller module and power converter (if using 110vac) when using the system. Another option would be using an existing porch light to house the module. Give us a call 800 847 1359 (M-F 9am - 5pm ET) or fill out our Lighting Form with specifics on your installation for more information: www.boogeylights.com/rv-lighting-suggestions/

I'm looking for a light strip that slides in the channel that's sewn into my jayco 38fdds. Everything i can find has adhesive on the backside. If that starts peeling back when i'm sliding it in. It's gonna make for a lot of cuss words and regret. Also need an 18'er. Dont care if its white or blue. I dont need RGB. Dont need a rf reciever or remote. Dont need it to dance to music. Just need one that slides in the channel and makes light..🙉
@BoogeyLightsLEDs2 ай бұрын
Our awning strip is thicker than any other LED strip on the market. It's also wider than most. It is designed to attach directly to the side of the RV just beneath the awning (or awning housing if your RV has one) shining outward. It will work on any RV or trailer this way. It is NOT designed to slide in or mount directly to a channel or other plastic housing affixed to the awning itself. It sounds like you're looking for a SMD 3528 LED strip - smaller diodes for longer runs (18') also thinner to slide into your existing. We'd guess that's what came with the model originally.
