RV Lift on a Class A Motor Home by Burr Engineering

Demonstration of Personal Lift on a Class A motor home by Burr Engineering. Our RV service department installed this for our customer in Jan. 2013. It has a up down remote control. At customers request we installed the piece of metal that flips into the coach for a no gap entrance/exit. Great for those with bad knees or handicap people that have problems climbing steps.

It would be ideal to be able to lift and shift that pass through bridge using an extension like a rod extending up from it, to avoid someone having to stand on one foot to flip the passthrough bridge by using the other foot, which is a definite safety issue especially at that height anf without any kind of safety railing.

I know a quad. It takes her 2 hours in the morning to pee, dress and have breakfast. You don't understand what being disabled means. We can do it all in 10-20 min. Handicapped cannot.

You would think that RV manufacturers would provide interior support railings to board/disembark. Public transportation and school buses have them. If RV's had them, people with leg and knee problems could get in and out of RV's without the need to purchase such a device.

So you can take 5 minutes to enter your coach then 5 more minutes to lower so you can close your door

Certainly wouldn't want such a person in control of such a vehicle coming down the highway towards me and have a deer run out and depend on their quick good reflexes.

A person with perfectly good reflexes can have trouble climbing stairs, and even be completely unable to do it, all the while, perfectly able to be a safe and careful driver.

My cousin has good reflexes, but we almost wrecked when a deer jumped out in front of us, out of the woods, at the last moment, one Thanksgiving. If the deer had hit us, that might have wrecked our car, too. If only people who can avoid the completely unexpected can drive, then no one can drive, because no one's reflexes are that good, despite what they might like to think. I know there are limits to what I can avoid, but I also learned to be more circumspect about the likelihood of deer running in front of me--meanwhile, keeping my eyes on the road. I guess it helps keep you awake and alert.

I just bought on-line their new remote-control Burr Handy Lift for my newly purchased 2014 Thor ACE 29.2 Class A motor home. The RV is in storage in Connecticut right now until I can get the Burr Handy Lift installed in the Spring. My wife has difficulty climbing stairs and this lift will help her continue to be an RV'er. We live in Connecticut and the only problem I see after buying the lift on-line is that the manufacturer does not list any dealer/installers in the Connecticut area! I would like to have it installed in Connecticut rather than travelling hundreds of miles to have it installed. Anybody out there know the name of a Connecticut company that would install my Burr Handy Lift?

@@dona62851 It isn't even close to that expensive, even with installation! It is not hard to install it yourself, either. You just need to be able to bolt it securely to the wall in correct alignment. But bolt it at the top, and let gravity help you level it like a plumb bob! That would get it aligned properly. Better yet, use a plumb bob.

I think the regular holds 250-300 lbs--something like that--and the HD model hold 500 lbs. That might not be a 500 lb person, but a person and a chair, with bags of groceries, etc. I figure it is slow for two reasons:(1) it is probably a mechanism that is gear-driven, in order to be able to carry more weight, and (2) it needs to be kind of slow to help the person riding on it to keep steady on their feet so they won't fall off. It can't be a department store elevator, you know!
