The most fascinating thing I saw just now was how tall Jennifer was and I was short you were. No judgments just an observation. And then when we were at the side of the bus everybody was the same height. Nice trick photography. Tons of smiles thank you... I do not need wheelchair accessibility but I am so pleased that they are making it for the world because there are plenty of people out there men and women that are in need of that kind of assistance. Thank you Winnebago you make a nice product

The main thing that all of these accessible campers are missing is an integrated track lift over the bed.

Don't like the fact that the microwave/convection oven is high. How does a confined wheelchair person access that? Most of the time they have other people with them, but.....
@corymcdonald13692 жыл бұрын
@@laurad7439 I for sure could reach it but I was 6'1 standing. I sit pretty high on my chair. Like I can still reach the cabinets in my apartment. This does limit smaller people to needing someone with them though. You're right

I was going to say this too. No room for a manual lift.

Phil and Stacy- thank you for taking the time to bring attention to this rig. It shows you aren't only focused on sharing your journey or things that help you but also others. I am sure there are people out there that have no idea this is even an option. I hope many of your subscribers will share the video all over social media. Knowledge is empowering! Safe travels.

Shouldn't the micro/convection be below the stove? I don't see how a wheelchair-bound individual could reach it. (What am I missing?) I do love the consideration of Winnebago in offering models for accessibility-challenged RV'ers. I guess maybe the wheelchair RV'er might have a companion who could reach the micro/convection. (Just because I'm alone doesn't mean everyone else is!)
@todayissomeday5 жыл бұрын
You are right. They do come below the stove as an option. I think since they are not fully accessible (meaning not driving accessible) they assume someone will be with them. There are quite few things that I am sure will be changed over the next few years as more people purchase and use them. Usually, there is a disconnect because the designers/manufacturers dont always RV or aren't in need of accessibility. Thankfully, though it is a great start outside the $400k price range.

Thank you for that! As a nurse practitioner I understand how important this line will be for this community. There is such a huge need! Newmar was the only manufacturer that had a model in which a ramp was not a specialty order and it is so expensive! Even though these models are still costly they are at least half of Newmar. And just wait until they are used!! I am excited about this line....if you couldnt tell.

Am aware that rigs will improve as folks utilize them. Until now accessibility has only been a dream or a rare occasion of a buildout someone did for themselves. As rigs become more accessible the valuable input that people who use them give to the manufacturers and RV design teams will completely make a real difference for travelers on wheels. ( wheelchairs ) Make your voice count, don't just find fault with how things are now. look to the future to make it better. I am so thankful that Winnebago is taking the lead.

I completely agree! This is a great step with hopefully more to come.
@lifewithduchenne30302 жыл бұрын
But like everything else they make it completely unaffordable to most of the disabled people on social security. They ultimately are removing things but charging more. And they should have asked more handicap people what is actually needed besides the damn lift into it.

I love that they're tapping the physically challenged market. There are those out there who've been active all their lives who one day find themselves in a wheelchair (as well as those who've been in a chair for years if not all of their lives) who might well want to get out and travel. This makes that possible in an easier fashion. I know the manufacturers wouldn't do it if there wasn't a profit in it for them; I'm just glad that somebody IS doing it. Safe travels, y'all! -M (Good video, btw. I always enjoy y'all's videos though)

That roll in shower is a mess waiting to happen. As you show it that flat floor and single flap seal won't last long, and water is never a friend of an RV floor. Stacie, you should have worn some high heels, although standing on that curb worked.

A true wheelchair accessible motorhome needs to be everything in the middle within reach. Microwave is too high, cabinets too high, oven door needs to open sideways, not downways. Sink needs an empty spot underneath for wheelchairs to pull into underneath for the legs to make it easier to wash dishes. Shower needs a built in center seat in the middle, don't wanna fry electric wheelchairs or rust out a manual wheelchair while showering, now do we? Ramp looks great, need side rails so we don't easily tip over sideways by accident while the ramp lurches up and down. Need a platform area to strap down wheelchairs and or scooters (maybe room enough for both), so they tied down good in case the mobile home makes a sudden brake that won't cause them to slide across the floor or worse, fly across the room and crush/kill someone. Just my two cents.

I was getting all ready to give you guys a hard time because you weren't at the Gas Stop booth on Thursday, but then I looked back at your video and it was the 11th, Wednesday when you were going to be there, not the 12th when I was there. I know you came in sometime on the 12th too but I was out enjoying the show. Maybe another time. Yes the coach is neat, I didn't go in it but I did see it across the street from the Gas Stop booth. Newmar Canyon Star 3911 is a better option in my opinion based on quality and price. The Winnebago Adventurer is around $229k MSRP while the Canyon Star starts at $188k MSRP. Canyon Star has a much larger chassis, higher quality materials, and customer service is top notch.

@darrellgordon97485 жыл бұрын
I like that RV industry is now starting to make these type of RV’s. Just a thought, both the driver and passenger sections should be possibly be made accessible too on models. I wouldn’t think it would be hard for the passenger front side to have that option. The driver side would require lots but I would think it’s doable. 😃
@todayissomeday5 жыл бұрын
Not impossible! The passengers seat does turn all the way around so people can transfer to that seat during travel but the drivers side would need a bit more work.

Wow! That was great. I like the room it has, which is a plus. However, for the price, extremely more design should've went into the flat floor shower; a disaster waiting to happen.
@todayissomeday5 жыл бұрын
When you think about the price consider the fact that accessible vans start around $75k. The benefit is making them standard brings down the price tremendously. They are not longer a special order. Hopefully, as more companies join the bandwagon the price will continue to do down a bit.
@roydavis22425 жыл бұрын
Newmar has offered a couple handicap accessible for several years. A friend in a wheelchair told me he liked the Newmar interiors better but liked the Winnebago's lift better. Either way, the industry is making more available without special ordering one.
@todayissomeday5 жыл бұрын
You are right about that but the Newmar price it way to high for many who need the lift. Winnebago's line will cut the price significantly allowing more to enjoy the freedom of the road.
@roydavis22425 жыл бұрын
You get what you pay for in quality difference to me.
@todayissomeday5 жыл бұрын
That may be true but not everyone can afford that price point even if they wanted too. This will allow a large group of people to join the RVing community that were priced out if it with the Newmars. I think accessible options at every price point are important.

@PHOTOGUY61624 жыл бұрын
When on the highway, how do you plan on securing a power wheelchair with someone in it. Also, you might want to check the 30 inch clearance. Most power chairs need a few inches more. There needs to be more clearance on both sides of the bed. Most people in power chairs load from once side. Like the roll under vanity.
@todayissomeday4 жыл бұрын
They are designed to have the wheelchair person sitting in/on one of the seats or couch that has seatbelts. We are just glad that the industry is making them accessible for all.
@donplumley77924 жыл бұрын
I agree 30 inches is way too narrow. My husbands chair would never fit. It would need at least 4 more. Inches to not tear up the walls.

Sorry, wouldn't work for a family, mom, dad and adult son in wheel chair. You show me one affordable on disability then I'll believe they've done something for everyone, or just anyone over 2 people. We have a Winnie 35 ft. and with all the modifications and thousands of $, it still isn't wonderful. But we did it by exactly what is needed, not any manufacturer who isn't living the way a wheelchair bound 'needs' to. And I look at this and wonder, who do they think they are setting it up for? Hmmmm Sounds nice but not reality.
