RV Mod - Fireplace install

Today, I'm adding a fireplace to my Class-A motorhome. I hope it'll give you some ideas if you want to attempt the same on your rig.
My RV: 2018 Thor Miramar 37.1
Fireplace: TItan Flame EF-30B electric fireplace

So far so good. With that running in the front of the coach, and an electric oil-filled radiator in the back, it keeps us warm down to around 40F or thereabouts. If it gets much colder outside than that, we might need to assist with the furnace.

Thanks, I am about to add one to my unit. I am trying to size it properly but none of the fireplace units are the same size. So is the fireplace size the cut out size? And do they all come with a trim piece?`

Thanks for this. We are starting the reno of our travel trailer and have the same wasted cabinet in the living area. What are you going to do with the space above?

I finally did get the doors and install them, so it’s a functioning, if shallow cabinet. We currently use it for the remotes and storing the various power cords we use.

Outlet you use from the tv is 15 Amp

Thanks for the concern, but I didn’t use the outlet from the TV. It’s the manufacturer-installed dedicated circuit with a circuit breaker labeled “fireplace”. I guess it’s just easier for them to wire all of them up the same than install wiring on some but not others. Also, the circuit may be 15 amp, but that’s what the fireplace is rated for (1500W / 120V= 12.5A) and it’s the exact fireplace that comes from the RV manufacturer when it’s ordered with one.

Nice video! Do you have to run a separate outlet to the breaker box?

Since the 2018 Thor Miramar 37.1 came with a fireplace as an option, there was already an outlet hidden behind the wall at the back of the cabinet. If your breaker box has a breaker for the fireplace and there’s wire connected to it, you likely are in a similar position. If not, then it would be best to run some new 14ga wire to the breaker panel and have a dedicated breaker just for the fireplace, as it consumes about 1500 watts (12.5 Amps at 120V) when in operation.

I can't figure out how to get the one out i have, unless I'm supposed to pry off the wood trim that seems to cover the fastening fin

If I recall, remember that I’ve been through three different models during this project, the outer bezel just slides up and off some tabs. That exposes the four mounting screws.

Michael Smith it was a Titan Flame EF-30b, which was what it would have come with from the factory if it had been ordered with the option.
