ℹ️ About the Episode
Before our first RV trip, we probably would have planned for several weeks before traveling 1,600 miles. We'd likely know where we'd be staying every night, and the rig would be buttoned up and ready to roll. These days, we set out for a 1,600-mile journey at 4:45 PM without knowing where we're going to stay that night-much less the entire trip. Thus, we thought it would be helpful to share how we crossed the county in just four nights with no reservations, dry camping the entire way. In this episode, Charlie gets extra stinky by swimming with the ducks one last time and we host an event with Kunes RV of Elkhorn, which is a partner of E3 Camping. We had a dry camping event the night before with just E3 Camping members, which made for a great opportunity to get to know members better. Stay tuned for more information about E3 Camping-we're re-shaping the membership, adding benefits, and setting up rallies. Surprisingly, we made it back to Arizona in only four nights. That wasn't the plan; we were just in the mood to drive. With just the two of us (and Charlie), it was pretty easy to get up, do some work, make breakfast, and drive all day. Our entire lodging cost for those four nights was the price of a $10 mug.

20:10 wow that pilot/airplane maker in that segment was so cool. He reminded me of my dad who was a legendary aviator. A commander on the Boeing's and an instructor with many thousands of hours of flying on the left seat of the cockpit and many thousands of hours of training other commanders. This made me miss him since if he would have lived on for a few more years he'd be doing stuff like this gentleman. Being passionate about aviation and never losing touch with it. I miss you so dearly, Pa.

I run a Preditor 3500 generator and i leave it in the bed of the truck with the tailgate down. Dont need to do anything else, just plug in the 30 amp cable. Runs everything. Simple, inexpensive and runs all night. Or all day plus.

Wow! Some how I missed this video. What a treat this morning to find it since I already watched this weeks release. Thanks for everything you all do. We are planning out our 2023 3 to 4 month adventure. One objective is to be out of Texas due to the extreme heat during June, July, and August. In 2022 we did Banff, Jasper, Vancouver and the Washington, Oregon, and Nevada. This summer it will be the North East and Eastern Canada. You all are a heavy influence on where we go and what we plan to see. Thank you for being our tour guide. And thank you all for being you. Just love you all better then family 😂 . Hope someday to run into you all on the road so we can thank you in person.

When the grocery carryout asks, "where to?", It is great fun to tell them," all the way to our house". Then you point out your rig. but, the best part of provisioning with your house at the grocery store is the ice cream stays cold.

As new RV’rs you guys have been SO helpful in getting us on the road with a bit of confidence. Thank you!!! In this video Marc refers to the water heater as a “hot” water heater. My husband kept catching me when I would say that…”why would you need to heat hot water? It’s a water heater”. So, now Marc said hot water heater” I chuckled. Keep up the great work!!!

Great video. My wife and I just completed a 4,300 mile/21 day round trip from our home in Tampa, FL to Sedona, AZ. 11 stays at HH. We are newbies at RVing and enjoying our 25 FBT Airstream. Your videos have been a great tool for us to learn and prepare. HH are the best but we do spend more money than we should as we love the local products 😉. We wish to do a trip up the east coast late fall, early spring. Thanks again for your videos.

In a converted Sprinter and just returned from a ~month "dry camping" trip to Colorado, Wyoming, and South Dakota plus drive through states, 10 in all. Solo this trip I used about 40-45 gallons of water and never got below 72% battery. What I'm most proud of is, I did not buy a single meal, not even a cup of coffee and never paid to camp. I haven't calculated it yet, but using a few different fuel apps, I think the average paid for diesel was in the area of $4.50 per gallon. That's obscene but, relatively speaking ...

We are a retired couple and we converted a 2018 Ford Transit 250 into a beautiful camper van. We have an atypical power setup. We run everything with Ecoflow lithium "solar generators". Two 1300w and one 2100 watt,. They run everything in the van including the microwave, coffee pot, MaxxAir fan, etc. We also have a DC to DC charger and have a 200w solar panel on the roof. We stay all powered up easily and it works great for us. Our van build series (non-monetized) on our channel shows how easy it was to set up. Be safe and blessings!

Harvest Host was the saving grace of my solo travels all over from FL to TX last winter. From distilleries on cattle prairies, to lavender farm, to brewery in Atlanta and all the way back home to WNY. You really did wing it! I made 200 miles a day and did 2 reservations at a time. This due to hosts being filled. I meandered as I was in no hurry during March to make it back to my little cabin in the woods. I had to buy 2 AGM batteries in TX and You are right about the learning process. I can't afford solar, but running my generator for awhile every day, I had no problem for a month on the gulf down in TX which was the real test. Thank you for the work you do. I considered have a channel and it really is a lot of time, effort and commitment. Hat's off to you! BTW-no matter where I went, who I met, we all knew who you guys were and we all expressed how wonderful you and your family are. God bless you. Hope to meet you one day.

One of the best. This fall I want to do more dry camping. I tried it at a rally and it was easy-peasy, but the temperature was perfect. It's harder to justify paying $45 at a full service CG to pull in and sleep, maybe hook up power. Save the campground fees for the destination.

Another video enjoyed. That stated. I'm just gonna come right out and say this. Trish, if we ever meet up, I'm gonna beg you to cook. Watched you cook so many wonderful looking things. That's not to say that I'm underfed by any means.:). I love the way you all did the harvest host on the fly. I brought that up to my wife, she said. A lot of harvest hosts require. 24 hours notice. I think that may be true. But at the same time, if you call it or not booked, they're probably just gonna say come on.! We tend to Reserve, reserve, reserve. And then find ourselves having to change things. This winter, right after the holiday we are heading down towards. New Mexico. And then later on going out to. Southern California to visit family and then making ourselves. A trip back? East. Not at a fast pace. I don't know that many people travel as fast as you do. But. We still are going to make our way back on a SE pattern. Most likely. At least, that's what we think. That's the great thing about this. Nothing set in stone.! Walst I'm ranting, Walst I'm ranting, I do believe. I'll ask for some advice. From folks who've traveled back and forth a bit more than we have. Will be heading east leaving Palmdale, CA. Going through Las Vegas. And then? Checking out. The edge of the Grand Canyon. Off of that glass shelf. Can't think of the name of it off the top of my head. And then who knows? We travel in a 45 foot fifth wheel. And of course, a truck. Any suggestions?? Say hey to those kids of yours. You should be proud. You've always loved watching them when we see them. And of course, totally enjoy Caleb. Of course, we can't forget Charlie. Love It when Charlie has a voice. Too funny.! Be safe. God bless.

I love these "Day In The Life" videos. I also love when you two have conversations like one of those last podcasts. They're fun, informative and relevant, so any time you get to throw one out there, I'm all ears. No need to bring back the full podcast- you're too busy, but if you ever have time for an hour of conversation on life/goals/self betterment, it's a treat any time. I'm trying to learn your skill of stopping before it's way late in the day when we're traveling long distances several days in a row, especially returning home. It's another learned skill, but if we stop at 3:30, I can't relax for thinking, "we could have done another 100 miles", especially on the home stretch. We laugh that we're like 2 old horses heading for the barn - we can give the Beeline Queen a run for her money, LOL! Have a great week!

I'm thinking being independent from most thing's, living off the sun as much as we can with our 7x14 cargo trailer, just a place to keep things, get out of the weather and enjoy what Mother Nature has to offer and meeting great people in our travels, not to do it as a life style, but just to get away as long as we like and then comes home to a place where one enjoys it just as much as being on the road, well, I feel getting the most out of life as one can b4 life get my wife and I, because we're only here for a short time when we realize really how short life really is LOL GREAT Video keep them coming

Fun video. We almost always dry camp. Even though we may be in A campground the powered sites are hard to come by. Since we are in AZ we go to the Grand Canyon and on the Mogollon Rim most of the time. We have a Jackery too. It is a game changer and we love it. One tip we use for dry camping is we do the dishes in a plastic tub and dump it down the toilet. We never fill up the black tank but the grey can fill up quickly especially with showers. Keep the great content coming

As always a fantastic video! A Buddy of mine not only built his own airplane for the first time, but made his own prop because he was to cheap to buy one. He and his wife both learned to fly what he had built with zero real FAA flight instruction time.

My wife and I recently bought a little trailer and we have been using a Jackery 1000, I use a cpap. Using that and charging our phones at night allows us to have power for about 4 days, and we have the solar panels too so we can charge it during the day.

I started watching you guys at your beginning under a different name but finally we have our own camper and went on our first trip last weekend and can’t wait for our next trip late August. Doubt we will ever be full time but your channel has given us the camping bug. Thanks Mark, Trish and Caleb!

This Victron Display tip will blow your mind! Turn on the “RV Screen” so you can turn the inverter on/off and do current limit all from the Home Screen- no menu hopping! Steps: Menu->Settings->Display & Language-> Show Boat and motorhome view Would also show you your tank levels on the home screen if you get them connected to your Cerbo.

One word: KANSAS! ♥️ Yeah there's not much excitement here, but it was exciting to know you drove through. And we were relieved you had a cool night dry camping at Paxico. Anyway, fun video to watch from start to finish.

Hey Marc- not to make you too jealous, but we have TWO of those Giant horns on our Beaver! :) -Thanks for telling me where to get replacements! Also: Thank you for mentioning CPAP. Not many people think that those Jackery, can be plugged into your RV, and your CPAP plugged into the Jackery. and then the Jackery can be charged when you run your Generator, or off your solar to capacity, and then the Jackery can act as a UPS for your CPAP at night! Also, I Actually use my Professional video camera batteries to run my CPAP off a custom built adapter from and Anton-Bauer gold mount to 12v cigarette lighter plug. Then I just charge the Anton-Bauer batteries using the charger off of the inverter or Generator.

Really informative. I have done some dry camping with our TT. Not my favorite, but it can be done. Our current TT (Aerolite couples coach) does not have as many windows as I would like, so the A/C is needed most nights. We traveled from our home in Rochester, MN to Palm Desert, CA and back in January in our TV (no TT), which is a Cadillac Escalade, and an enclosed trailer to bring back some of my folk's belongings from the CA home. Fun to see some of the same sights you saw. I-80 in IA (not from this recent trip, but I have driven it many times), Dodge City backroads and Hwy 56, and Santa Fe. We really enjoyed Flagstaff and know why you enjoy the high country of AZ. Great video.
