Thank you so much. Unfortunately, the flooring selection WAS a mistake. About a year later it started chipping and breaking and falling apart. If we’d have known that the flooring was going to do that, we’d have used something else. 😥

Did you think of switching your with a tankless one? Are you afraid that the subwoofer might get wet if water heater leaks?
@itsworthit5029
@itsworthit5029 Жыл бұрын
We considered getting a tankless only because it would be more efficient. The subwoofer base might get wet if there’s ever a leak, but the moisture can’t build up in that area before it would drain out. So, the subwoofer would be fine.

Is there a reason why you chose to do real tiles instead of sticky tiles? I'm not super informed how to install real tile. A lot of these kinds of videos use sticky tiles instead of real glass tiles. I was wondering if weight was not an issue? (Since most people choose sticky tiles because they're light weight and easy to install)

I was wondering what your husband did for a living. He’s very talented and jack of all trades. That’s what my dad was. But he worked for Kenncott intel he retired and the retirement didn’t last long. He went back working, he became a security for the Maverick Center in West Valley and they also did the Security for the sauna for summer concerts and his favorite one was doing the Security for the U of U games. We are originally from Agana but the last 20 years of my parents life they lived in West Valley that purchased my grandparents house because it was bigger and our family was getting bigger. Great job!!!!😊😊

Jeff here, I just read this comment and I would humbly say that I’m not a master but love the challenge each project presents and with each problem we gain a greater understanding of the trade. My only talent is really understanding concepts and mentally visualizing the steps necessary to achieve the final product. I don’t follow any specific style of wood working, but build it ho how I see it working in my head. I have much to learn from other carpenters and can often be inspired by seeing others creations. I’m driven by the desire to create and love seeing it come together as planned but sometimes get kicked in the butt when it doesn’t quite work the way I hoped and have to make modifications. But when that happens, it’s an opportunity to grow and do better next time…which is better than never messing up and not getting any better. Thanks for your kind words and for following our little journey! I hope you chase your dreams and make whatever you want happen! 👍🏼😁

Just goes to prove, you can still do excellent work without a $5k saw stop, festool, jet, (pick your premium brand). Very nice job.
@itsworthit5029
@itsworthit5029 Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, it’s not the tool, it’s what you do with it. We don’t understand the tool camp polarity. Tools do what they’re designed to do regardless of who makes them. Premium brands do tend to last longer but most people can’t afford the premium brands when they’re just DIYers. Granted, the more one spends doing projects, the more they desire more durable tools; but the average Joe can get affordable tools and do good quality work. Sometimes people comment on these videos sarcastically pointing out that we “only needed to buy 5 thousand dollars in tools to build whatever we’re building”- so it’s nice to see someone like yourself who understands the need for basic tools to DIY. Like, you’re not going to be able to do much with just a hand saw and a drill. A DIYer will need to invest a considerable amount in tools to get the job done and tools pay for themselves as money is saved not hiring someone else with tools to do it for you. Thank you for your comment!

You nailed it out of the park with this one. What a project! How did you get the paint on the cabinets to look so smooth without any brush strokes? I wouldn't have thought of using poplar as a countertop especially butcher block, that idea will work great in my camper I recently bought. I thought of contact paper but I would rather have what you did. Awesome job!
@itsworthit5029
@itsworthit5029 Жыл бұрын
No trick to painting the doors really. She just brushed it on and it just kind of levels out, however…. There is this new spray can that Home Depot sells that has a wide spray pattern like an automotive sprayer that can spray the paint super smooth and very fast. Now that we know it exists, we’ll be using it from now on for paint projects. They can it’s like twice the height of a normal spray can, so you’ll be able to find it easily. As for the counter, we really love the beautiful colors of poplar and found some nice looking pieces to use while searching the hard woods section of Home Depot. Realizing it’s more of a SOFT hard wood, we figured it would be fine using the Super Glaze epoxy as the final surface finish to withstand wear. So far it has worked just fine, and we’re still happy with the selection. Thanks for the support! We hope your project turns out as you hope. Let us know if you have any more questions. 👍🏼

Thanks for watching. He has slowly been accruing tools since 2007. He didn’t buy these over night. Tools are necessary to get the job done and appropriate tools make the job much easier. Any diy’er recognizes the need for the tools and sees it as an investment in themselves and their future of diy’ing. Chances are if you don’t have it, someone does. Borrow if need be, or rent if you don’t think you’ll use the tool ever again.

Lol Just kidding but I enjoyed watching you work with your wife right by your side helping you. Keep up the great work.

🥰 you’ve given me inspiration for designing a designated laundry area inside fifth wheel. How did you connect the plumbing for the laundry room to the bathroom or kitchen? Did you have to increase the size of your grey water tank?
@itsworthit5029
@itsworthit5029 2 жыл бұрын
oh awesome! We ran all new plumbing and electrical for the laundry closet. There is a separate plumbing video and electrical video on our channel as well. We installed a grey tank for the washer alone. We drain and use the grey water for plants etc on the property.

Interesting what is considered to be " on a budget ". In tools alone there are a least a couple of thousand dollars, nevermind the number of hours invested, but definitely the final product is beautiful.

Thanks for the complement! Yeah, the tools I’ve acquired over the years since 2007, so the expense has always paid for itself with each project that I undertook for clients. More of my previous work from that remodel and handyman business can be found on this site: aaacustomcarpentry.blogspot.com/2010/06/ketties-remodel.html?m=1 if you’re interested in checking that out. Most DIYers have acquired a few essential tools necessary to take on projects like these so it’s expected that if they’re doing a project like this, they already have the tools to do it.
