Thanks for making the video. It gives me an insight into the repair I'm about to do. The staples do drive me nuts. I know it was a long time ago, but thanks for the help.

I think the best part of the video was the girl talking us through it all. She is definitely beautiful and smart

Great demonstration and narrative. We like and subscribed. Now it's time to pull up your channel and binge watch. We didn't get names from this video, but the beautiful woman narrating is perfectly articulate. The guy (I think she said his name was Lucas) is quite the brave handyman. Takes guts to get knees deep like that. Great job.

I am renovating our 5th wheel right now. Do you remember how the wires ran to the plugs in the slide out? From the floor up into the outlets? from the ceiling down the walls to the outlet? Thanks

Sorry for getting back so late. If you are referring to the paneling on the inside, I ended up ripping if all off. More than likely, that paneling is going to be moldy. If you mean the outside tin, I just bent it back enough to squeeze the board in.

That is exactly the camper I just bought and the exact problem I think I have with it. Can I contact you for some help? I know I'll need it.

I hope this isn't a silly question, but how did the slide not fall out when you un-bolted it? We need to repare the back wall and floor of our slide but there are bolts in the floor plywood that we don't know how to remove? - Liz

I have water damage in 2 spots on my slide out. One under a window that need to be resealed and one in the corner where the outside trim need to be replaced. Do I still need to unhook the slide out?

There is no way I would buy another RV without slide toppers. Water is a sneaky RV killer.

hahaha yes it is! We probably would do a salvage vehicle altogether next time if registering it and getting it insured wasn't such a hassle in most places. -Rachel Lamb

This is great, thank you for sharing. My question is where did you source your vinyl and replacement needs? Are these supplies easily found at a local hardware store, an RV specific shop, or were you finding them online somewhere? We will be launching into our own RV repair once the weather warms and all of this helps. Thanks again!

+MrElectric777 Hi There! Most of the stuff we got was from the hardware store. We reused the vinyl that we popped off, because it was still good. All the wood was from the hardware store. It's possible that the vinyl is the same material as the stuff that's used as shower liner actually, but I haven't done a side to side comparison. We used 1/4 inch plywood sourced from the hardware store for the wall instead of RV panels which are about 1/8 inch with vinyl,, but we liked the feeling of the thicker non-RV panel better, and we got rid of a lot of original press board cabinets so the weight comes out to about the same. We covered the seams with trim instead of the tape that they used on the original walls. I'm pretty sure you can order the wall replacement panels from online RV stores. We've found most RV specific products to be cheaper online than anywhere in stores, and I haven't seen panels in stores.. We're planning on doing a follow up on our wall panel choice in a few months after a little bit more travel to see how everything has held up using non- RV specific materials. Hope this helps! Good luck! -Rachel

We replaced the wood on our slide but it did not adhere to the aluminum. How did you adhere your's? You did not show how you went about fixing it in the video and I have been searching all KZbin videos to see exactly how to do it.
@twolambsandacaravan37808 жыл бұрын
We used a wide staple to get the aluminum to adhere to the new wood and used a plastic coping that had a rubber weather strip that covered the staples. Hope that answers your question, please let us know if it helps! -Lucas

How did you support the slide out and get it out so you could get to the floor by the slide out?
@twolambsandacaravan37809 жыл бұрын
The bracket it bolts to actually held it up on its own. I just slid it out about a foot and let it rest on the two beams that push the slide out. Try not to overthink it, just unbolt it, push it out those 12 inches, do your work, push it back in and rebolt. You may need 2 people to pull it out. -Lucas Lamb

When we slide our slide out we noticed the floor at the outer wall seems to be dropping leaving a gap between the floor and outer slide wall. any suggestions on how to fix this.
@twolambsandacaravan37808 жыл бұрын
Normally the slide has big bolts that you can adjust the height with so that gap will close. Hopefully that answers your question, please let us know if that helps! -Lucas
