Anyone that watched this video and owns an RV that gets offended by the content should rethink owning an RV because this is a fact of RV Life. People need to get over it.

We had the same issue at a campground recently and I even opened the gray first to test and then the black BUT it was the campground that admitted they had a sewer backup problem on our side of the park - I had to do slow flow dumps for a little bit at a time just to get our grey down enough to travel and waited to dump the black at our next stop!

So OK, this is entirely on me: got a brand-new sewer hose set (happy birthday to me?) which came with two plugs, one for each end of the stinky slinky - neat! Fast forward to next time I’m dumping and all is going well…except…nothing’s coming out when I open the black tank valve…? I suddenly have an awful thought: did I forget to remove one of the plugs? AND, rather than thinking to close the black valve, I…didn’t. Instead, panicking, I unscrewed from the “sewer main” on my rig and BOOYA! Black tank contents shot out all over me. I was wearing gloves, but what I really needed was a full-body condom. I managed to jam the other fitting onto my main and minimize the effluvia somewhat, but let’s just say I’m glad there was a concrete culvert to a sewer drain, a hose, and no near neighbors at that time. Managed to get it all cleaned up - thankfully nice hot showers and laundry facilities on-site - but now I count out, “one, two” to make sure both plugs are accounted for.

OMG. That’s awful. We had one such experience and hope to never repeat it. We went to dump and unbeknownst to my husband, a piece had fallen off the previous time we dumped so the hose wasn’t properly connected. Of course black tank is pouring out in the ground. Closed it quickly. He had to hold it together manually and slowly empty the tank. Lesson learned. Since then we always open grey tank valve for a second to be sure that there is no issue. We close it and proceed to empty black tank. BTW, you are right that it is an awful site, particularly for the neighbour that is set up facing your sewer connection. Hope you recover your footage 🤞

I remember when I was younger me and my dad would always go to my grandpa‘s trailer they had a blue boy for like liquids from the sinks and the showerSometimes when the owner wasn’t there we would just drain it behind the camper but then when he was there we took the refilled the blue buoy theatre for trips up until it into the mountains mountains

Man, it’s always horrible to have a black tank malfunction but it seems worse when it’s not your fault. What did the campground do to repair it? Were they responsive and apologetic when you pointed it out?
@Five2Go2 жыл бұрын
I actually haven't gotten around to telling them yet but I'm sure they'll have to bust the concrete out or put a smaller pipe in and seal it from the outside if they don't want to do that. I don't want the next guy having the same thing happen - imagine if it was your first time camping and that erupted like that. Yikes!

Well that is something that will happen if you travel verrey much. By the way how many campgrounds were you in this year? I like the longer sewer hoses because you never know where some campgrounds stuck the sewer.
@Five2Go2 жыл бұрын
I think we averaged about ten days per campground in 2021 so we set up camp maybe 35-40 different times. I haven't counted it up to know for sure. This year is going to be a lot more action-packed though 😉

@@Five2Go We were in 51 campgrounds and 21 states. Not full time and spent from one(overnight) to 3 weeks in a campground. Put 11,620 miles on my little camper. We count campgrounds if it is a different stay I have several we were at a couple times. States can only be counted the first time you enter it. We already have some fun things planned for this year.

I made sure it was all cleaned up and not smelly before they got back. Surprisingly there's no odor near there even with that big gap in the pipe. Sometimes those inlets stink even when capped and other times they're wide open and nothing. It's weird.
