Watching for when you replace bedroom carpet! We just refloored living area & slides from carpet to vinyl wood planks. What a job! Staples are what hold these rigs together.

Okay SEABEE brother ( I saw your shirt ! we ARE the fighting SEABEES ) you need to remember that these units are made in Indiana with Amish contract labor. Basically the Amish will be hired to build out the units when the Amish are not planting or harvesting. The Amish don't use power tools....sooooo when the Amish kid gets his hand on a pneumatic staple gun it's like he has been handed a golden saber and he slays they beast ! LOL, and no, this isn't a dig on the Amish, its from a guy that has contracted Amish labor !

Turned out so nicely! I have been thinking about doing something to our cougars steps as well, we keep killing our heels on the grates and if you have ever done that on yours you know the pain I am talking about.

These turned out very nice. The uneven step height was my motivation. When I traded it the dealer never noticed. Thousands of staples.. its probably a prerequisite to working at an RV manufacturing company....”how many staples per minute??”..... 10,000... your hired!! We changed out the stairs in our RV also..while we were at it, we added some storage underneath for shoes and stuff. Such a waist of space in lots of the RV..

My steps were stapled in, no nails or screws and the whole thing collapsed on me suddenly. Very hazardous. Gulf Stream 5th wheel. Did same funky staples for my closet wall too which also collapsed.

I have the same Fifth Wheel: 2017 Keystone Carbon Toy hauler, with the same step issue. Did you ever put in the handrail? I am not skilled to do the DIY work but would like to add a handrail to address the step size issue. Thank you for posting this!

I did not put in a handrail, I traded this for a Fuzion 369, no step issues.

Our stairs are coming separate from the outside wall. How would you recommend restabilizing them?

If you can access under steps use screws into wall structure without going through outside wall surfaces. Be careful.

When are you doing the handrail? I have the same model but a 2017 we hate the step and no handrail.

I fell down these steps in my Carbon on 5/5/23 and broke my leg in 3 places. Those are horrible steps! Please everyone be careful, I am absolutely miserable 😢
