Thank you so very much for taking such care to film this video. I’ve never had an RV before and at 81 I find myself with two large ones. My family and are living in them while a house remodel is underway. I’m in San Diego and we’ve just experienced a horrendous high wind and substantial rainfall which has resulted in water coming in a bedroom and pooling on floor. So I’ve turned again to KZbini to learn as much as I can. As others have mentioned you’ve produced an excellent video on perseverance. Though unlikely my solution, I did learn so much on how to isolate areas and how I might check them. I’ll certainly be binge watching your others to become familiar with trouble shooting and understanding. My rigs are both used and no manuals were included so I’ve a lot to learn. Again thank you.

Nice job figuring out that leak. Most people would not go to that extent to find the real problem. Maybe that is why there are so many water damaged RVs. I would note that I now avoid using silicone sealant because it doesn't last. There is a alternative called proflex sealant that lasts much longer and stays clear. Another alternative is a sealant used on household aluminum gutters that seems to be the same as proflex but easier to find at the home improvement big box stores. Another common leakage point is the running / side marker lights. I seal those with proflex. Fair seas and following winds to you and your viewers.

Water leaks can be tough to track down. You have to be very methodical. Glad the video was helpful.

Thanks for the video and ideas on how to test for the lower seam leak. I was going bonkers trying to figure out where the water was coming from this time! While looking in the door with a flashlight, I gently sprayed some water around those sealed screws and quickly saw water coming in. After close inspection, I found a sealed screw that was broken and loose. I removed the broken screw head and sealer, then filled up the hole with GE silicon to seal it all up. I went over the rest of the door frame screws for good measure and did another test spray and saw no water coming in. Thanks for the ideas on where to look!!!!! 2020 Winnebago 2108DS front driver side passthrough door.

Wow, nice work. We have had a leak plaguing us since day 1, which is 4 months now on our apex nano coachmen 194bhs. The dealer has replaced the front window multiple times. I’m so warn down by the fiasco.

Leaks can be very frustrating. If it is under warranty, it's hard to keep it going, but try to stay persistent with your dealer until it is fixed. All the best!

Great Video. I have a 2022 Jayco 284BHS and so far have encountered at least 3 different water leaks. The firs two was easy for me to see where the water was coming in from (The slide, and a window) but the one i'm troubleshooting now is a little more difficult to locate. Keeping water out has been my biggest challenge with owning a trailer.

@@JohnMarucci I have! At least I have found one source. Under the shower I can see water dripping from a hot water line. Unfortunately I don't see any easy way to access it. I have seen others have to take out the entire shower to access the lines..

Yep, the slam latch doors have been very problematic for the Keystone Bullet models, especially 2018-2019.

Yep, the slam latches are notoriously suspect for leaks at the screw heads. All the best!

Hi I just got a 1968 trailer camper yes it’s old the guy sold it to me for 500 bucks I bought it for privacy at my home so I can make it as a room for me but we just had heavy rain yesterday and on the top of the camper there’s a small leak and it leaked the whole camper inside I was sad so just now I push the water out on top and put a 10 ft tarp over my camper I hope this stop from water getting in and into my camper

While this speaks to the quality of your channel, it speaks much louder to the quality of the manufacturer who should have far more reason and motivation to figure out their build failure before you figured it out for them. It'd be reasonable to wonder if the new water resistant flooring shows a manufacturer philosophy of covering up major issues with minimal effort bandaids that hide things long enough to kick the can down the road so current decision makers won't be around to have to answer when customers with catastrophic results finally come calling.

Thank you for the comment. Keystone has replaced many floors due to the slam latch door leak issue at great expense to them. It baffles me that they don't test their products for leaks before selling them to the general public. The hyperdeck composite floor on my Keystone RV has held up well, yet not without the stress of fixing issues that never should have been sold to the customer. I am not sure that current management is kicking anything down the road as much as they are not thinking through the testing process on products. In essences most RV companies use customers for R&D and test in production - to their public embarrassment. Thanks again!

In the same issue with my rear cargo hatch door, only difference is mine doesn't have the crimps/weap holes and the screws are on the inside , was hoping it would be one or the other lol.

With the screws on the inside I’m not sure it could leak the same way. You may have do a similar water test to identify where the leak is. Thanks!

Russell, I do not have a video covering your issue, and I am sorry to hear this situation. Likely the most helpful forum I've found is the R-Pod owners forum. The people there are extremely knowledgeable even if your RV is not an R-Pod. Worth a shot to ask there: rpod-owners.com

Great video John! Thanks for taking us along your water leak journey. One quick comment, didn't you find it ironic that the label, 'Aqua Shield' was visible on the door frame where the leak was? LOL. :)

Would this allow water to get into the insulation that under that area. In the outer edge of my sonic (similar floor plan to yours) underneath on the sides, I noticed the insulation under the plastic was saturated with water. Only in the front of camper. Both sides.

It very well could allow water to seep into the subfloor and any insulation. The key is to try and test to see where water is getting in. If both sides are wet, I'd start by checking the roof caulk on both sides for any holes, then working down to the lower areas. Having someone help spray a specific area, while you are looking at that area is helpful. I video taped a lot in the cargo hold to find the issue. All the best!

So why doesn't keystone recall or have the dealers silicone those areas of those model years? It would be better then having to replace a soft floor. I have 2018 premier without any issues but you can bet those screws will get some attention. I've been keeping paper towels bye the opening since hearing about this issue. There is soo many people on keystone Facebook group with campers coming back from factory floor replacement destroyed. Why not recall them when issue was identified? Crazy!

Yep, I have been following this issue for a couple of years and its tragic what has happened to so many people. They are pretty much replacing the ones that happen, so I suppose it is a soft recall. Fortunately I have the hyper deck and didn't have my floors destroyed. Thanks for the comment.

Ours just developed a leak last weekend at the roof level. I’m not sure where it’s coming from quite yet. Just a little over a month out of warranty.

That's pretty close to still being under warranty. I'd push on it with my dealer and the manufacturer given you are so close to warranty expiration.

@@JohnMarucci Oh believe me I am. I tried to pressurize the trailer yesterday with no luck. I need a fan that moves more air. However I did also put a hose on the roof and nothing leaked. So I just woke up 20 minutes ago and it was raining. I went outside and no water on the inside of the trailer. I do have the cover on but where the leak was coming in at is exposed to the rain (the rear cover was flipped up on the roof). The entire rear “cap” was exposed also. So just my best guess is it might be intruding on the drip rain somewhere and coming in. One thing I didn’t mention was that it developed this weird cracking in the gel coat near where the leak happened. I also pointed out to those guys (dealer and coachmen) the last time we used the trailer was in August. It’s hot in August and obviously not raining. August was before our warranty was up. So, now we wait. The dealer is communicating with me on this though. The saga continues.

Our carpet has been getting wet around the kitchen area and I don’t understand why. I live in Louisiana so it rains a lot but I’m still not sure where it’s coming from or how to stop it. So frustrating.

You may want to first check all plumbing connections inside the kitchen cabinets. I had some come loose recently from the trailer being jostled while being towed.
