Good job man. The 3 green wires from the generator are 3 phase AC which are converted to DC by the controller. It would be even more efficient if you extended these 3 wires for the long run and put the controller as near as possible to where it hooks into your DC system inside, rather than having the controller on the masthead with the long run of 2 wires. You would get less cable losses this way :)
@joeshow88155 жыл бұрын
Exactly, turbine to controller connection is 120 v (240 ?) and controller to the battery bank connection is 12 or 24 volts. If your set has 200 feet from the turbine to the battery bank and the controller is e.g. 2 feet from the turbine it means you run 12/24 volts on distance of 198 feet. You will need a THICK WIRE. But if you place your controller 2 feet from the battery bank, you can run pretty thin wire to handle 120v over 198 feet and 2 feet of not too thick wire to connect the controller to batteries.

Extend the 3 green wires all the way inside the RV right next to the charge controller for best results. The red and black or positive and negative wires should remain short next to the charge controller. Otherwise, you'll have a loss of power. Remember, three long three-phase wires to the rectifier. Two short positive and negative wires from the rectifier to charge control.

In my experience with wind vane self-steering sailboat units, I learned that a wedge shaped (v-shaped) tail fin is much more stable than a flat tail fin. The wedge prevents hunting while pointing directly into the wind because there is pressure on both sides of the wedge which keeps the wedge from wandering. Place a tab on one side of the wedge fin to if you want torque speed control. This reduced hunting will reduce gyroscopic precession stress on the bearings and on the blades. It should also increase the average power produced because of reduced hunting. What say you to that?
