Hi Everyone, We hope you enjoyed our video! Which small camper you can tow with an SUV did you like best? Do you prefer a travel trailer, motorhome or 5th wheel? Please say hello by leaving a comment below and sharing your opinion about these RV floor plans.

We are planning of buying an SUV. The tow package is 5,000 lbs. This is something we are thinking of doing next year when I retire. Thank you for this.
@RVBloggerАй бұрын
Here's the deal with tow capacity...we recommend that you never tow more than 80% of your SUV max tow capacity. This means if your SUV can to a max of 5,000 lbs your trailer should only weigh 80% of that or 4000 lbs after all your gear and supplies are on board. So you probably will need a camper that weighs around 3,000 lbs to be safe. Hope this helps you to decide on the perfect SUV that can tow your new RV! Mike

Thank you. We’ve watched your reviews for a longtime. We love our Geo Pro, with a spacious bathroom, its large cupboard and shower, the MB is easy up/down. Forest River makes a decent quality rig. We researched before making this choice as we wanted to pull it with our new Honda Ridgeline truck that’s setup for towing. The couch is comfortable. We travel with a small folding table to use in any spot! We often leave the dinette as a lounge w/large pillows and as second workspace! We have a Clam tent for outdoor living space on longer trips. We downsized from 20 years of a ‘C’ RV. As seniors, this has been fine!

I don’t know who buys these things. They seem super overpriced, and I know msrp and sale price is different but still. 30k for a tiny trailer seems excessive. You can get a basic stick and tin, 20ft camper for like 14-16k And they still are pretty light weight. The idea you NEED an aluminum skeleton trailer is really kind of a myth.

This video is a little deceptive, your average SUV has a towing capacity of 3500-5000lbs. Some of the campers you showed were close to 4500lbs+ loaded weight, thats not safe to tow over 80% of your max towing capacity. An SUV with 3500-5000lbs towing capacity should be looking at a teardrop with the GVW around 3000lbs MAX, safety is PARAMOUNT!!!!
@RVBlogger6 ай бұрын
There are some SUVs that have a lower tow capacity just like there are SUVs that can tow up to 10,000lbs. It is important for everyone to know the tow capacity of their own vehicle before buying a travel trailer. We also agree with the 80% rule to be safe. The TTs in this review had a GVWR that range between 4,200-4,995lbs, that reaches a wide variety of SUV owners. ((and UVW of 3,156-3,895lbs)). Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting. The Winnebago hike design needs some work. Why a massive fold out table in such a small place? Instead just have a screw in a small screw in table. The murphy bed seems big for the space too. The UVW and GVWR of these towable travel trailers makes me wonder which SUVs can realistically tow them? I have a used 2019 Premium trim level Chevy Equinox and its tow capacity is only 3,300lbs. Unless you’re willing to spend $40,000 to $60,000 on an SUV that Might (3,500 lb towing max towing capacity is what even the most high end SUV can tow)be able to tow any travel trailer, which is ridiculous, then wouldn’t you be better off with a pickup truck? You know travel trailer buyers are going to load all their camping stuff in the travel trailer bringing the weight of the travel trailer close to the GVWR. Add in the hitch weight, and any SUVs engines, transmissions, and suspensions are going to fail. Right or wrong? These travel trailers are for F-150 pickups and other bigger travel trailers to tow. If you want to tow a travel trailer to haul with an SUV buy a pop up travel trailer or something as small as a Casita travel trailer where you end up carrying most of your camping stuff in your SUV because of space constraints;otherwise buy the best and most comprehensive vehicle repair warranty on the market because your SUV will need it.

Huh!! Today I learned an SUV can tow a trailer, that's really interesting 😅 I'm not sure about any of these in terms of what my personal fav of the 3 would be. Seems like there's some solid pros and cons between them all. But for me I prefer to have a bed where 1) there's enough space on either side to get in and out fairly smoothly, and 2) no window at the headrest, as I'd prefer to have a smooth backsurface to lounge against to either read or watch tv.
@RVBlogger6 ай бұрын

@RVBlogger5 ай бұрын
Glad you like the reviews! Thanks! We own a 12v in our Class A and a propane in our Class C RV. There are a couple of big advantages of a 12v fridge. 12v fridges get cold faster and they don't have to be as level as the absorption style propane fridge. And if you have solar and a battery they can run for a long time on renewable energy. Some people say that 12v fridges are safer because they don't catch on fire like a propane type could. (Not sure I buy this advantage) We mainly point them out because manufacturers are getting away from the propane style fridges and moving to 12v. Thanks for watching!

@@MSTinPA I'm not sure that the braking system really determines the amount a vehicle can safely tow. A brake system is safer but it doesn't mean you can tow more weight. The real issues are the tow vehicle's engine size, transmission, cooling system, and suspension. Not sure why the same vehicle in another country can tow more but either that are made differently or max tow capacity is calculated differently or with differing safety guidelines.

Check out the 3 campers in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJ68qp-dZduUgrs They all have 80' Queen beds and a shower height that might be comfortable. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting. We appreciate your support!

Your tow capacity is low IMO, but also check out their 15TB. My hubby is over 6' and he's comfortable in the twin beds. Those beds also convert to one large king.

It costs way to much for a trailer that size I’ll give you $16k for it . Winnebago is out of their minds with that price. And a wooden frame yet.

Do not think most SUVs could tow any of those trailers safely. Of those trailers reviewed, I consider the first one, the Geo Pro, the best designed. Like the non-bendy Murphy bed and the nice kitchen for the small length. But Do Not care for that shower: would rather have a well-made wet bath over that 'dry bath' that doesn't work. ( guessing that low shower curtain won't last long in that tract at all. The shower curtains that retract into the wall seem better engineered and more usable). A few more outlets would be nice too

I tow a Rockwood 2109S with my suv, it’s a Nissan Armada with a tow rating of 8,500 lbs.

We do believe quite a few SUVs have the tow capacity to safely tow these campers. But it is the most important thing to know - the tow capacity of your vehicle. Agree about the bathroom set up. A small dry bath just doesn't work, otherwise it's a waste of space. I'd be curious to see how tract shower curtains handle after years of use and travel. Great question! Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting. We appreciate your support!

All very nice layouts. Just unfortunately none are designed for taller people like my familey who all above 6 foot.
@RVBlogger4 ай бұрын
Yeah - these smaller trailers have no headroom. We have made some videos about campers for tall people so check them out! We also have a blog article on RVBlogger about the best campers for tall people or maybe it was trailers with King beds but either way there is better head room in the campers in the article. Thanks for watching! Mike

I bought a Rove Lite 14bh in March. All Rove Lites are 17-19” long, 8 feet wide and have a GVW of 2,500-3,500lbs. The one draw back is low cargo capacity. I tow with a 2016 Jeep Cherokee at the moment and it tows really well. MSRP’s around $30K because of an all aluminum constructions and built in smart anti sway and stability control however most dealers are selling for $19-24K before tax, title, and license. I would recommend a Rove Lite to anyone, it’s a really good small hyper lightweight camper.

Nice trailers, but still about 1,000 lbs heavier that they could be. I wish US manufacturers would make a truly light weight travel trailer.
@RVBlogger5 ай бұрын
My guess is they would have to use materials besides wood (which is cheaper) so cost might be a bit higher, but I love finding lightweight campers. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting. We appreciate your support!

Those tiny corner showers seem useless for most average size males. The curtain bottom always pops out of the shower confines, leaking water all over the floor. With that said, you should take a survey. Would you rather have a useless separate shower, or take the same bathroom footprint and have a very large wethead type shower? If you think about it, the tiny shower gets the floor wet anyway, so why should manufacturers restrict the consumer? They should offer a choice at least. There are so many floor plans that are perfect for my needs until I see the shower and it's a deal killer.
@RVBlogger6 ай бұрын
That's a great idea! Option #1 Dry bath with smaller, cramped features or Option #2 Wet bath with more room. I personally don't like a wet bath, but I hate a tiny useless bathroom even more. I think you're onto something! Thanks for the suggestion. And thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting. We appreciate your support!

@@RVBlogger Love watching your videos!❤❤ Is there anything I can tow with my CRV? Only tows 1500 lb, and I was looking at a Scamp. Appreciate what you do!!
@RVBlogger6 ай бұрын
@@ragantalleur5038 I'm afraid you won't find much you can tow with your CRV. The Scamp (without a bathroom) has a weight of 1,500 but I have a feeling that is UVW (unloaded vehicle weight). Meaning without anything in the camper. Once you begin adding food, clothing, camping gear like chairs, grill and sewer gear now you are talking GVWR or gross vehicle weight rating. I think you would exceed your tow capacity. Many in the industry also agree that you should never tow more than 80% of your vehicle's tow capacity. So if your CRV can tow 1,500lbs you should safely tow only 1,200lbs. You could check out Sylvan Sport Go. Unfortunately there is no kitchen or bathroom, which is why it is so light. www.sylvansport.com/go-camping-trailer/ Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
