The Laws Museum is a must see if you're in the area. It's free and very well put together. This little demonstration was fun. Glad that you enjoyed it, Christopher.

Cool demonstration video! I have often seen these while out hiking but never saw one in operation. Certainly would’ve paid to have two burros at one’s mine to do all the work. It seems like a very slow and tedious way, though, to grind rocks.

Hey Frank, a couple working animals sure would have come in handy for the miners back in the day. They might have even been good for some companionship after the work day was done if no one else was around. It sure does look like a slow process as you say. We've run into a few of them while out and about, too. There is a pretty cool one in Joshua Tree N.P. not far from the intersection of Pinto Basin Road and Park Blvd. called the Pinto Wye Arrastra. It's a beautiful little hike in an area that thousands of people drive by but not many ever visit it. We made a video of it a couple years ago if you're ever interested in seeing the hike. Thanks for your support as usual, we appreciate it! kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWLRlYmso5J7f7M

Thanks for sharing,i never knew they used this method.i was going to open a fat farm and crush ore at the same time so you so you helped me out with this problem lol.
@TomandJulieMineExploring5 жыл бұрын
That would be perfect. Lose the weight while you crush the ore. Let me know when you get it running lol. Thanks, Jack

Hi, May a use a a little bit of this video in one of my videos? I am working on a mining documentary and the history of the mine references this type of mill? Thank you

Yes, you can use it. We have run across arrastras several times over the years and have videos of several of them.

Boy what a tedious job that would have been. I would be praying to find gold so I could buy a mule ..
