Cool wagons to help show what people road in and took all they owned and used in business used back in the day

If you ever get a chance to see these wagons in person you would be impressed. Very well built. Thanks for the comment, Ronnie!

Jay is really passionate about this museum and it is great to hear him talk about these wagons and their history. It must have been a sight to see the mules pulling these wagons.
@TomandJulieMineExploring5 жыл бұрын
Yes, he is. There is a local celebration in Bishop, California called Mule Days and it is probably the biggest event of the year there. You might have heard Jay say these replica wagons are part of Mule Days in the parade. Mules did so much work in the mines back in the day it really is something to behold and the reason for the celebration. The borax wagons traveled a very tough route across Death Valley going from spring to spring so they could have water. The old photos are really fun to see and I hope they came through okay in the video.Thanks for watching, PDaz!

@@TomandJulieMineExploring Were the mules actually in the mines? Aren't they quite tall? (I am showing my ignorance about animals here.) The old photos came through very clear. I need to go back and read all the text with them.
@TomandJulieMineExploring5 жыл бұрын
@@PidasianHippie I'm not sure about the borax mines but in many mines they hauled ore right out of the mines pulling a small string of ore cars running on narrow gage railroad track.

@@TomandJulieMineExploring Don't forget the ruffians and cutthroats along the trail. There were even dastardly competition financed by banksters and other swells who hired less reputable men to make sure a load 'got lost' along the trail.

@@PidasianHippie Not just mules but horses too which worked in the mines, in some cases never having seen the sun.

I enjoy looking at museums but its always nice to have a guide that that give you that extra information. I think its also important to keep history alive and places like this do exactly that. I agree with Julie, it's not cool - it's awesome! Cheers Alan

You definitely get more information with a knowledgeable guide. This museum is pretty cool... I mean awesome. Thanks for watching, Alan.

It would be cool if Disney made up twenty mules and set that up as a complete display . Then the visitors would get just how big it all was 😉👍🇺🇸
@TomandJulieMineExploring5 жыл бұрын
That would be cool.

I'm sorry I most disagree they are NOT replicas, Mr Engel built the actual wagons! They were not built in the 1800's just in the 2000's, please stop referring to them that way!
@TomandJulieMineExploring5 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure to whom you are directing your comment nor am I understanding your point. Also, if you scroll down a few comments below yours, Mr. Engle seemed quite pleased with this video. Thanks for your input, Marshall.

@@TomandJulieMineExploring It was for the guide I guess just venting a bit. I've said the same thing to Mr. Engel, I don't see him as a recreator but a craftsman building the same wagons they did back then.
@olivei24845 жыл бұрын
@@marshallmoneymaker8322 You raise an interesting idea. When does a replicate become an original? If one shop, say abbott-downing made all the coaches, then any new coach would be an replicate. If these waggons were made by several shops in the area, then Mr Engels would be a family member in production. Perhaps it would be intent. The new waggons will never haul ore even though they can.
