My daughter lives in Vermilion. Great town Enjoyed your visit to Lake Erie and Vermilion Lighthouse. There used to be a museum right next to the lighthouse. We were surprised to see it was torn down. It was there the last time we visited last year. We were also at the park where you stopped. On a clear day you can see Cedar Point from the Lighthouse. Thanks for the great view of Vermilion. ~Sue from Lucky Dawg Productions.

Came across your channel by accident. I have vacationed in Vermilion since i was 18 mo. old to the present (am 82 now). I am presently in Vermilion from my permanent home in FL. We had some "gray/rainy" days the week of 6/27 . As your post was 7/1, i am assuming you were here last week? Sherod park, where you stopped for lunch is about 2 miles east of where I am staying. Hope you get to see see the lighthouse in Huron & Sandusky, Marblehead & Perry Monument. If you are still along Lake Erie Fri.7/2 you will have witnessed first hand how windy and rough it can get quickly! Have a safe trip!

This is such a wonderful treat to be able to see Ohio. Vermillion is a nice quiet place. Loved the drone footage over the lake seeing the homes from above. I liked the Muriel on the brick wall, loved seeing the lighthouse, the beautiful Geraniums, the lakeside homes. Yeah, I would have to agree, it would be neat to dock a boat, run in & grab a homemade Chicken Salad sandwich on wheat with a slice of provolone cheese, slice of a big meaty tomato, some lettuce, a few slices of cantaloupe, & a sweat tea. Winter is like you said harsh. This town will be celebrating 200 years in 13 years from now. Maybe you can come back? So peaceful & relaxing looking seeing the Geranium filled planters & benches by the lake. Like they actually want you to visit. Have a safe 4th of July. I love seeing fireworks.
@kimberlyshalaby11343 жыл бұрын
all I could see is ice forming on the houses by the lake. Sure wouldn't want to find out what winter would be like there. Maybe it isn't as bad as they get in the New England States by the Ocean?

Had me going there for awhile, Russ, with your opening shot. The Pennsylvania Railroad branch through Killbuck was long gone, so where'd that train come from? Why Vermillion, of course! Nicely restored railway depot in Victory Park, a close-up would have been nice. Your comment, "...looks like the ocean almost" is truer than you know, Russ. They're called the Great Lakes but in reality are vast inland seas. Calm today, but they must be respected beyond any ordinary lake. After all, they did sink the "Edmund Fitzgerald". Good thing I wasn't driving, it may have proved too tempting to find out if The Beast is amphibious! Thanks for the ride, Russ, see ya next time.
@billharris72353 жыл бұрын
As a rule, seas are salt water. Lakes can become seas if salinity rises due to changes in inflow. Also, some bodies of water were just misnamed by explorers and the names stuck. But the Great Lakes are just that, lakes.

I was taught Lake Erie is a mean old lady. I live on the shores of Lake Erie and when she gets riled up it is beautiful to me if I'm on land. Love the winter season the most. Lake Erie in its deepest point is only 40 feet deep. So a little wind and gets rough quick.
