All those 400's were brilliant !! I had a Kawa ZXR400R with the racing carbs.....man ! I revved, screamed forever !!! Fantastic ! Spares were the problem.

Heard a bike in a parking lot once that sounded unlike anything I had ever hear. I didn't get a very good look at it but I'm 95% sure it had to be the 400cc V4. So freaking cool. What a sound.

I know not all V4s are the same, but every time I hear almost any of them I want one. And I admire the aesthetic of older bikes being more rounded. Some modern bikes look like they'll cut you if you sit on the wrong (looking at you, Kawasaki Ninja 400).

I had the RVF400 and loved it especially as mates had the standard VFR400s, I thought it was the king of the pocket rockets, until I bought an NSR250 MC28 (the smart card model) and as well as the standard card it came with the production racing card, which gave a genuine 70bhp at the back wheel as opposed to the standard 45bhp, from a bike weighing just 157kg (345lbs) wet, now that was the king of the pocket rockets.

In the UK I remember the NC30 got officially imported and cost thousands more than a CBR600F (same with the FZR400) Really only became appreciated and bought in the following Grey import boom here. BROS650mk2 owner here. Can’t beat making a slow bike go fast. More satisfying more of the time! Nice vid!

I had a Honda VF400F in 1986 - 1991. It was then my only vehicle. Also a 400cc V4, 4 carburettors and 4 valves per cylinder. Way ahead of its time, looks, handling, acceleration, everything. I did at least 2 trips from Pretoria to Cape Town and back. It Honda bring back a 400cc 4 cylinder bike, well I'm in!

Bought one of these about 5 years ago It is dressed in R R 600 R clothing So I have the best of all worlds 90's bike with up to date fairings etc The thing that shocked me the most was how it reved its like a 2 stroke and just as smooth no vibration I love this bike to bits I love riding it and it will be by my side for ever what ever is ?????????????? Whilst the power is down on modern stuff it makes up for it all with its handling I can keep up with most super bikes in the twists well unles I ride with a few nutters "which I always try not to do" To date I have not heard a bad word agains these little rockets ??????? Thanks for the up load made my day !!!!!

Fantastic! 20 odd years ago my first bike was a GSXR-400 then a ZXR-400SP and I don't think any bike i've had since was as much fun as they where and i've had R1's Blades and Ducatis etc over the years. I really regret not buying an RGV250 back when they where affordable....

Unless they sprocket to kill their acceleration, RVF and VFR won't keep with CBR in the straights but an RVF should crush them all in the corners. I found the GSX-R400 (slingshot) to be the fastest in a straight line though, by far.

Great vid & a beautiful bike. Honda were so so ahead of the times back then. I loved the 250's & 400's of that era. Had a '94 RGV250 back in the day & very nearly bought a GSXR400 or ZXR400 but it was head over heart as needed something more practical so went for a far less cool 250 commuter. Desperately hoping the new ZX4R ushers in a new era of pocket rockets as I'd be first in line!

The fact that I still lust over one of these ancient things is a big sign to Kawi to make that 400cc that is being rumored in two flavors. One for the budget conscious and an SE model for the dudes that would rather do a track day on a fast 400 over a brutal 1000cc sport bike.

People just don't know about that bike. I wouldn't prefer it in the corners without swapping out the front forks but damn that bike could be fast. Dusted a 600cc CBR with mine when it didn't even have a proper throttle, I had to pull on the knob at the end of the cable and it was raining.

Depending on tests, i might be iinterested in that kidney. Those were the days.. Where i lived i don't think we saw the Honda, but we had a guy with a very angry Suzuki GSXR400, from memory i believe it was a RR-SP, and i still remember hearing him punish that thing. Later on someone bought an also angry Kawa of similar size. Those, and all the really angry two stroke bikes were SO much fun. Great memories for sure.

yea have a nc30/nc35 hybrid all the nc35 bits upside down shocks body lights except for the carbs and 17" rear wheel also have a spare engine in storage for if this one ever fails the tiny size makes lane splitting a breeze and naturally only 59hp + high revs means you hear the screaming even when going slow love it wish i had a spare tank, have to sort out epoxy coating/rust repair , the only gripe with old

I've got an 96 RVF400 & 88 CBR400 in the garage. 88 FZR400 & 91 GSXR400 just sold. While the FZR was the best handling, the RVF has a brute strength that stands out in the 400 world.
@philonetic3212 жыл бұрын
An FZR handled better than an RVF? That's uhh, unlikely. V versus inline, and the RVF had inverted shocks.
@brianparis86012 жыл бұрын
@@philonetic321 RVF power band is much better, but my fzr was also better geared for a track. The FZR was a better cornering bike and handled tight canyons better.

lowering centre of gravity for sportbike is not necessery better it depend where on track and how much low it is 👌🏻 on fast changing corner one be another like in slalom yea it give some advantage driver can faster change lean from left to right to left etc without to much effor however the point is with lower centre of gravity you need to elan more especially if you have wider tire and here comes one issue if we are somewhere else than on slalom test 👉🏻 lean angle if you achieve lean angle limit before tire achieve its grip limit because you have to low centre of gravity and to wide tire now your bike is slower in corner than could be on this tire compound 😂😎 but i quees in this egzample its not so low for limits its cornering capability 😉👌🏻

1:15 and with nc35 intakes don't work? they are just makeup and actually don't provide air? can you explain please?
@rbfclaboratoryandstudio Жыл бұрын
The ducts work, but don’t feed air directly to the intake. It’s not a ram air like the RC45, although I wish it were! What takes place instead is that the front of the tank enclosure gets pressurized with cold air, which i guess is close to where air box snorkel is, but it’s not at all a direct path.

Frustrating that Honda doesn’t make a modern V4 Superbike. Give us the bike we all want Honda!
@V7422 жыл бұрын
Economics of scale, demand for affordable bikes, etc etc. You know why. But the true question is why not? If you indulge the practical reasons for not making one, we ought to go further and say why don't we use scooters? They can carry more stuff by default and can go fast enough for traffic, not to mention the fuel economy and weather protection. And that ALL flies in the face of why we ride motorcycles. The feeling matters. Yes Honda, you make very nice parallel twins of various sizes. Can we please have SOMETHING else?
@michaeldobson88592 жыл бұрын
From the glances i can see. The bike has or has a fuel leak. Maybe what you smell. A leaking fork seal and body panels that do not align. Looks like the owner needs to do some work here.
