really? its the simplest one out there. all of the others have multiple lights indicating different things. This one lights up white if everything is good, red if something is bad. when something is bad, a code shows up on the screen, and the key to the code is on the side of the module. its doesnt get any easier than white = good, red = bad. you just plug it in and wait for the white light.

I bought a new Forest River Vibe from Camping World. I had most of the essentials before with my old camper. Some of the high dollar items can be added in to the cost of the camper “out the door” cost. I racked up $4k worth of extras on top of the camper price. It doesn’t sting so bad if you extend it out over several years.

Just right off the bat - I carry my drill with the bit for the jacks, but, when i bought the drill I also got a SAWZALL. I bought a pair of PRUNING BLADES for it. You would NOT believe how handy that has become. I've cut firewood, I've cut panels in my RV so I could install or fix something. Heck. I just cut stuff to cut stuff to whittle. ;-) ... Just don't cut a down tree that has a yellow jacket nest in it like my buddy did. hahahaha. A DeWalt Bit set, and Drill Bit Set are VERY handy as they have the square bits and the star bits in them. Other than that - you covered about everything I carry. Have a great time out there and see ya on the road.

First off GREAT VIDEO! Here are a few more things depending on your viewer's skill level. Keep in mind I have been camping my entire life and mostly boon-docking so you have to be self-sufficient. At least 75% of the repairs are done on fellow campers rigs. If I do not have what you need, it will be in my rig on the next trip! Yes, Even a 110 or 24V flux core welder. Needless to say, I have issues. -Spare wire, crimper/cutter/strippers, and an assortment of electrical connectors even wire nuts. -Overalls, Magic Creeper (amazon), or a large cardboard box you can open up. Beats lying in the dirt, gravel or on hot asphalt if you have to under your rig for a repair. -Consider a CO2, halotron, or fire blanket. The first time you use a standard ABC extinguisher, the powder gets EVERYWHERE. Definitely have an ABC if you need it. -Super glue (my personal fav) -Gorilla Glue -SM or MED tarp -Brake/carb cleaner -Spare spark plug for generator -Starting fluid -Can of coil cleaner for refer or a/c -Kindling Cracker Firewood Splitter (amazon) with short handle sledge hammer (3-5lb) -Clear safety glasses -P-Cord or small diameter rope -Tub O Towels TW90 Heavy-Duty

You mentioned the JumpPak to jump your tow vehicle if needed. I suggest looking at some that are built with a compressor. If you don't have power, using this battery-powered compressor will be easier than the hand pump. Even if it doesn't fill the tire completely, any help is better than needing to do it all by hand.

I might suggest putting the water regulator before the filter as some of these water filters can not handle anything higher than 60 psi such as the Clear2O filter. I discovered this after getting the new 10 micron stage 1 filter. Also, try a 90 degree water connector with a shutoff. I have found this very helpful at times where I can shut off city water as I am flushing my black tank to get full pressure during the flush out.

Great video! Another item I have added to my RV is pool noodles! I cut a slit down the length of each noodle and push them across the top edge of my slide until the whole length is covered (Took 2.5 noodles) so when my awning is down it is not rubbing against the top edge of slide causing possible wear and tear over time and keeps my awning in great condition😊

0:13 0:13 We are in the third year of our first travel trailer. Two trips ago our front slide would not extend at the campsite. Turns out the shafts to manually override the motors on each slide were never installed, regardless of the manufacturer’s contention that they both either fell off on the road, or even better, were stolen by someone who happened to need them. Being newbies two years ago, not something we would have wondered about. We got our exercise that trip going out the front steps and in the bedroom steps, and vice versa. Just a possible reminder for first time buyers, before it goes out of warranty.

Excellent presentation. After 6 decades of RVing I think you've got a comprehensive list of what's needed. The only thing I'd change is get rid of the junk wheel chocks and plastic squares and stick with wood in 2X6 or 2X8 pieces in one foot lengths. They are so versatile for many needs.
@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS4 ай бұрын
where I camp even treated wood gets a little soggy over time, especially in the damp and rainy mountains of PA, with all that pressure against the ground, but I wont disagree with you some wood boards are always good to have. The wheel chocks I mention in this video definitely are nice, they are heavy duty solid rubber chocks... I'm not really sure how wood blocks are going to do a better job at chocking the wheels. Thanks for watching George!

Hughes autoformer is the best one for sure. Especially because you can replace the inside unit if it sacrifices itself. More bang for your book. Although it's not essential, a digital thermostat is a must in our situation. We got the micro air easy thermostat. You get better control of your ac and with Wi-Fi you can have alerts if it gets too hot or too cold inside. We're at our 4th year camping and with videos like these it feels like I've been doing it for 10. Thanks

I love your videos. So much information and all useful. Along with everything you mentioned I would like to add some safety tips. A safety vest and triangles are great, (being a retired trucker, I carry mine), but you can also carry Red Flashing LED Breakdown lights that you can mount to your truck or trailer. Most are magnetic and most have hooks so you can hang them from your rear ladder or somewhere else if you don't have a ladder on your rig. I also carry a Battery powered weather radio for those times when power goes out for whatever reason. Great for tracking storms coming your way. Lastly, I carry a battery powered, hand-held VHF Marine radio but I actually have a 12v VHF radio in the 5th wheel and in my tow vehicle. Don't let the name fool you. It's not just used on a boat anymore. Lots of hunters, and Game Wardens, use VHF radio for communicating with each other. It has a "line of sight" reception/transmit, meaning it has a reception range of almost 26 miles. Of course, a battery powered unit will reduce the reception/transmit distance, but it will also work as a weather warning system when needed. Thanks again for all your videos. Keep up the great job you are doing for all of us. See ya on the road.

i would also suggest getting a set of quick connects for your hoses :) and as far as for your holding tank can i suggest this recipe and comes from a professional source with over 30 years in the business .Mix 40 ounces of Pine-Sol with enough water to just about fill a gallon jug. Top off with a one cup or eight ounces of Calgon Bath Beads. Use eight ounces in each tank (or more in especially hot weather or if your tanks will be filling up slowly over time).also besides tire sensors you should go over how to read tire dates and manufacturing codes . for tires must be swapped out every ten years . How do you decode a tire code? When the tire was made: Every tire has a Department of Transportation (DOT) number after the letters on the sidewall. The last four digits determine the week and year the tire was made; for example, the digits 2321 would signify that the tire was made during the 23rd week of 2021.I agree on the battery organizer but i would also suggest getting a good battery charger as well for you AAA thru D batteries that also will do alkaline batteries besides the normal rechargeable as well as if they will cover special batteries such as the 18650 for and example . As for as light bulbs they do make LED replacements that dont need any special equipment to run the and will go into the regular sockets, yes they cost a bit more but saves on battery draw :) .also a separate Co2 and Propane detector that has a battery back up i would also suggest besides the one in the camper cause they do go bad over time .

It has the Thule awning and the trailer is in beautiful condition. Got it for 10,000 dollars. Can not wait for camping season. And another one that you should do is change out your suspension to independent suspension. It will make the ride so much smoother and you won’t get that something when you go over speed bumps. It also smooth out the rough rows that we have in the states the vibration started the wheels and worked their way up to the top of the RV and cause roof damage leaks around the AC units and inside damage slide damage all that stuff highly highly recommended.

ESPECIALLY if you are a full timer or ever out in the cold a MUST is a heated water hose or heat tape and insulation to make you own. An inlet hose will freeze way quicker than one thinks. Also a hair dryer in case you get a poopsickle, a frozen valve, et cetera. Basically in the winter a gentle source of warm air can help in a lot of places. I once had road spray completely coat my hookups and the hair dryer was a lifesaver vs forcing something and breaking it.

I am retiring into an RV in a few years, so I watch a lot of these RV videos. I love this very comprehensive list. I will be saving the entire list in the description to reference when I do buy my RV. You mentioned the fire extinguisher that comes with a new RV. I have seen and read in several sources that the OEM fire extinguishers are totally inadequate. Many experienced RVers recommend getting several larger capacity extinguishers and place them in several locations. The OEM extinguisher is almost always mounted near the entry door. Safety experts say besides that one, there should be one in the kitchen and another one in the bedroom. That makes sense to me.
@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS Жыл бұрын
First, good luck with your retirement! Also, I agree on the fire extinguishers. I keep a 2.5lb model in my bedroom. Since my camper is so small, you're pretty much always by the door, unless you're in the bedroom.

I have never done it, and while I could probably put a list together with some research, I would want to personally do it myself before I felt I could give advice on it. I dont pretend to know everything, but I'm glad this list helped you. Thanks my friend.

We use the Trailer buddy instead of a bottle jack for changing a tire. It is a game changer if you are dual axel. You just drive the trailer up on the trailer buddy with the good tire. It pulls the bad tire off the ground. We also carry two spare tires. If you blow a tire it often damages the other tire. In the next 30 miles or so it blows and now you are stuck. Ask me how I know and it was on a holiday with nothing open.
@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS3 ай бұрын
we have the trailer buddy too. I've never had to use but I know it works on my RV.... the reason I dont mention it here is because there are some RV's that it wont lift high enough on... there are a few factors, the type of the suspension, the height of the suspension, the road conditions, etc.... so I didnt think it should be something I tell everyone to get because of the varying factors between the 10,000 different RV's on the road. I do agree with you though thats its nice to have and makes things easy! And thanks for sharing about the 2nd tire. Glad to hear you got it all taken care of even on a holiday!

I would something else. Watched a vid where a fellow owned a biz flushing out rv tanks. He said to put a bit of water in the black tank. Not to keep the gate valve open and never use the tablets. Rv tanks weren't designed to be septic tanks. Put enough water and wait to flush the tanks and you won't get build up. Made sense to me.
@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS10 ай бұрын
In this video i linked below, I provide video proof that solids are left in the tank, even with lots of water: you liquify waste to move it out of the tank, its not the same reason a septic system liquifies waste, which is to separate solids from liquids from scum (top layer). see for yourself: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmaToJSjrZycrMU

Excellent job at creating this video. I’ve watched this video more than once and took note both times. I added double sided mounting tape. Recommend how to use Pex crimpers and maybe add Pex tubing cutter, strait union and 90degree elbow. My flush mechanism developed a leak while on the road and had to stop in and buy a shut off valve to put in line. I have watched at least 15-20 of your video in the last 3 days. Always well done and informative. Thank you b

Also, it’s good to stop by a fire station that has a hazmat vehicle and they can use their propane leak detector to check all your lines and connections, especially in older RVs. If you have a leak outside, your propane detector inside won’t pick it up and it has to be a higher concentration to set it off.

@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS true but why spend the money when you can have it done for free? That’s how I look at it.
@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS2 ай бұрын
I would argue its not free considering you have to spend time hooking up and then gas money and wear and tear on your RV to drive it somewhere to have checked. Additionally, if you suspect a leak while you're camping, is it worth saving $20 to pack up your entire rv and drive it somewhere, then drive back and set up again? I would have to argue $20 is a fair price for your families safety, but I do agree with you that it is something you should be testing. Thank you for sharing!

I really appreciate the time you put into the videos you release, you have a lot of invaluable advice that's been really helping me as a first time RV owner. I do have a little tip though, because some of the things you mentioned really seem like they're advertisements, it's important legally to disclose any paid sponsorships when you're making videos. In any case, great video, thanks again for sharing!

K E, the paid promotion alert is turned on for this video. Some products in this video were given to us, but the majority of them were were not. I wouldn’t recommend a product just because it was free. I always let our sponsors know I need 3 months minimum to test a product. There’s a lot of videos that weren’t made because I couldn’t endorse them. Thank you for watching my friend.

@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS "To be within FTC guidelines, KZbinrs must disclose who they are working with when they post sponsored content. If KZbinrs participate in a brand deal, product placement or receive a free gift, they must clearly disclose it to their viewers within the video’s description. Simply including #sp or #partner is not enough. It has to be clear what brand sponsored them and must include specific language to denote the nature of the sponsorship. "
