Notice how pretty much all of the GOATs of any era of 1v1 in rocket league's history have all been strong counter-attack focused players. Scrub & Kux (the OGs), Rw9, and even Fairy Peak (a little bit).

@@faraz.j633 True, they weren't totally focused on counterattacks (though I'd argue an early version of Fairy played similarly to that), but the rest of the best during their time period (Kuxir97, Scrub Killa, Rw9, and in a way oKhaliD, in the sense that his potent bounce-dribbling allowed him to quickly transition from defence to offence in a counterattack-y style (when the situation allowed for it). It's just an observation that reinforces one of the most important aspects of 1v1, in that mistakes are very costly and a player that can effectively punish those mistakes consistently will find it easier to rise to the top.
