Fantastic Documentary. Great job and congrats to the owner. I followed the build on IG. One thing I love is that it's only a handful of close family/friends gathered to witness. Compared to all the other RWB builds where it's a spectacle. If were to have an opportunity to build an RWB I would do the same.

definitely one of my favourite aspects of the new 993 kits. The beautiful part of this entire thing is that each kit is refined over and over. New experimental cuts are made and then those make it to different kits. The original 993 kit is vastly different than its current iteration, and it will continue to evolve based on Nakai’s vision. And *that* is what is so special

@samhulk318i9 ай бұрын
homie flew in to mount a body kit and everyone is shocked!!! I guess people don't realize there are kids getting paid minimum wage to do this with better care, precision, and finish than what is shown in the video. Not trying to be a hater but when I look at this from a very realistic point of view it is hard to get behind, especially with all of the great companies who not only mount body kits but also drastically increase performance mechanically. That's not even mentioning the coach builders and metal shapers who design and build one off masterpieces. They deserve the "artist" title imo, but most of them would never accept such a flamboyant term.
@RwbDave9 ай бұрын
Nakai also makes the fiberglass kit as well. So its born from his shop in Japan and he completes your build. Its ok if you dont get it, not everyone will but thats “art”, its beauty in the eyes of the beholder.
@samhulk318i9 ай бұрын
@@RwbDavethat I can understand. I would love to see him designing and creating the molds for his fiberglass body kit in his workshop. I would like to hear him explain how aerodynamics play into his designs and how he works around clearances. Unfortunately all I see in this video is a group of guys drooling over a dude smoking cigarettes while installing a body kit. I’d like to ask, is there any footage of him actually designing this kit so that we can further understand this art?
@DMRKing_9 ай бұрын
I appreciate your willingness to have an open viewpoint. RWB Chicago has a very unique position in that we have a direct contact with Nakai himself because we take care of his personal USA car. There are several documented examples of him modifying and creating the kits online by Speedhunters, several independent journalists and Larry Chen. Each build that he does, he is still changing the kit, based on the car and the owner. Each comes with its own unique set of problems, which is rarely showcased on video. He has to adapt to each issue on the fly, as he completes one car within 16 hours globally. On top of his travels to go build the kit, he only goes back to Japan a few times a year to create more kits in his warehouse and ship them out to customers worldwide, also by himself. He only has two other employees who help assist him. If you dig for some information from the above named resources, it may give you a different perspective and appreciation. Again, I do appreciate your willingness to be open minded and hope that this has helped you gain a better understanding of RWB.
@Ben_Z339 ай бұрын
@@samhulk318iAs you said you don't get it, The "art" behind this was that Akira Nakai designed these body kits and his kits were inspired by the bosozoku cars....and those don't really have any functionality to them other than to look cool to some. Not everything has to be "fully functional aero" like an true gt3 cup car most of the owners do rwb kits to make there cars look cool for there own personal taste as well once you buy an rwb kit only Akira Nakai is authorised to install the body kit himself onto your Porsche I think it is because Japanese people have a lot of pride in there work if you don't like the workmanship dont bother looking at rwb kits anyway Akira Nakai is an expert at what he does and even companies like Liberty walk follows the same type of style in there wide body kits it isn't always about being a functional race car for the track but more of an passion as personalising there cars to there taste. Another thing maybe go look at some true authentic gt3 wide body kits close up those have no attention to detail with misaligned body panels and all types of gaps and shortcuts taken all in the name of competing with other manufacturers and competitors around a race track they don't care as its an race car not an show car like the RWB builds
@kevinbowers39178 ай бұрын
Your ignorance on the subject is blaring,, these are bespoke and only for chosen few cars and people that represent his quality of build. Also he was the first and only guy who designed, produced, and installed HIS product while making the cars more desirable and valuable as each is one of a kind. It's actually artistic marketing genius.. That being said, nyaa nyaa. Cheers,ed

Title should read: How to destroy a 911/964 in a few quick cuts with a saw. Go get a singer if you want a tasteful modified car or just go RUF BTR/ CTR for the whole package
@DMRKing_9 ай бұрын
Taste is personal opinion! RWB for me has a more personal connection than other restomods. While I appreciate Singers and seeing Guntherworks cars, each is beautiful in its own right. But RWB is rough, and that’s my style. Thanks for sharing your opinion!
@SF_Native9 ай бұрын
Ruined such a beautiful 964...yeah RWBs are cool, but in 10 years everyone will wish they didn't cut up those beautiful fenders. I preferred RWB when there wasn't 1000s of them all over the world. Ah well, to each their own!
@RwbDave9 ай бұрын
Doubt that people will regret it cutting them. In 10 years if Nakai retires from building, these RWBs will be prized collectibles worth even more.
@SF_Native9 ай бұрын
@@RwbDave heavily doubt that. No one even buys used RWBs now. The ones I know of in my area have been for sale for years. Super wide is a fad, just like Veilside kits and the Fast and Furious look. Singer and Gunther will remain timeless.
