Ironwood is like White Knight of Generator Rex: paranoid and willing to do anything for the ‘greater good’, no matter the cost. Only difference is that Ironwood has more psychological scars and didn’t have too many people in his organization to question him. White is always being questioned about his methods, even by his own right hand, though he doesn’t punish them, or at least not severely. Doesn’t mean he didn’t come to blows with them. Ask Rex, who even had to fight a mech piloted by White that was created to kill him in case the EVO teen went maverick or insane just because they disagreed on what was the best answer against an apocalyptic level sleep plague. Also helps that his substitute was worse than him. But at least, he will hear you out. Sometimes. Search for Generator Rex and you’ll see.

Oh boy... I can see that a vid like this could lead to more fandom arguments. I’m pro-ironwood simply bc RWBY is trying to add more realism, while still maintaining protagonist-centered moralism like some kinda Disney fantasy world. In war, you save all you can. Ironwood was paranoid, but not *irrationally* so. He Was Literally Right. About one of Atlas’ own being behind the Beacon attack. About there being an attack coming to Atlas. About Cinder gunning for the maiden and relic. About the attack on Mantle being a distraction for Salem’s arrival. I would have *some* leaning towards rwbyjnorq if they had told ironwood sooner so he could’ve come up with a different plan months ago, or at least stick to the plan and stop Robyn from stealing the parts For The Plan, or at the very, very, very least Have A Plan. They’re flying off with the winter maiden after losing the relic of knowledge, which can be used to find Beacon’s relic, or simply plan around any form of attack they now try to conjure up. If they didn’t have a better plan, it just made more sense to separate from Ironwood and remain down on Mantle than stranding the whole Kingdom. 👎🏾

@@rai4119 Yes, thinking simply getting Atlas out would be the obvious solution. But Salem and her forces are craftier than that and the obvious solution is always a trap with her. He should have realized this, because the only way he beat Watts and Tyrian was through teamwork and trust, and Salem's M.O. is dissolving trust. A good commander learns from his mistakes (Beacon) and his victories. Ironwood refused to, choosing to attack his own allies and act under fear, and Atlas nearly paid the price. Think about it. His entire plan hinged on Winter getting the Maiden powers, but even though he knew Cinder was in Atlas he sent Winter after her and lead her right to the Maiden, and had it not been for Penny's split second decision to defy orders and take the powers herself, Cinder would have killed Winter and Fria, claimed the powers, and had Atlas waiting for Salem. He ordered JNR's arrest even though they did nothing, which led to the seizing of the Relic of Knowledge by Salem's forces. If Ironwood's plan had been carried out, they would have ended the night with Salem having the Maiden and both Relics, while Penny's defiance saved both the Maiden powers and the Relic of Creation. And let's be honest, Atlas itself, because Salem would have just grabbed the Relic and crushed the kingdom.

The show could of gone on just a little bit longer in my opinion. I mean, you still have the characters like that artic overload evo guy. The one who sold nanites to van kleiss. If he got broken out by van kleiss to reactivate the nanites then they could of had a fourth season. Not saying the ending of the show was bad. I loved generator Rex while it was one tv. And who knows, there’s probably some kind of fan fiction about that idea out their somewhere.

Well, there's really only two options either team rwby is able to get through to him or he ends up dead because rwby and the gang can't fight Salem and the atlas military at the same time. If Ironwood doesn't change and is still in charge then Atlas is Screwed.

I think Ironwood is the most well thought out character progression in all of RWBY. Watts summed it up perfectly. “The tin soldier’s heart has cost him his mind.” He was faced with an impossible choice. He could have the risk of the giant Grimm invasion and try to save Mantle as well as Atlas, or he can take the safe(r) choice and raise Atlas to the sky. I say safer because we don’t know the capabilities of the Grimm or if they would be safe at that altitude. Not to mention the plan totally hinges on Ironwood/Atlas controlling the Winter Maiden, which they don’t thanks to Penny.

I was rooting for Ironwood for so dang long... If he'd had even one anchor to his humanity, one person that could've talked sense to him... Really, when you think about it, he basically fell in the exact same way as Adam... Someone who started with a perfectly noble goal, but who completely lost himself trying to achieve that goal. Cet amv est vraiment géniale montrant ses moments vulnérables mais aussi paranoïde. Et lorsqu'il y a le save me, il y a Ruby. J'ai beaucoup aimé Ironwood dans ce volume, la manière dont il a été développé ainsi que sa chute. Je pensais que c'était évident, je veux dire Ruby se questionne sur ses actions pareil pour Yang et Blake. Et Weiss on voit que ça la peine de le voir comme ça et du coup s'inquiète pour sa soeur. Vu qu'il l'avait empêché de faire une connerie lors du bal de charité au volume 4. Surtout que c'est pas la première fois que la team rwby a des conséquences pour leurs actions. Ruby essaie de s'interposer face à Tyrian ? Qrow se fait empoisonné. En veulent à Ozpin d'avoir caché la vérité ? Se retrouvent perdu et se demandent quoi faire. Leur pessimiste finit par atteindre Apathy (qui reste le grimm le plus effrayant de la série), Ruby et les autres qui doivent se rendre à Atlas mais le responsable ne veut pas, Cordovin sort les gros moyens, Ruby essaie de la raisonner mais ça marche pas. Ils détruisent le mecha et les grimm arrivent. Du coup ils refusent de partir en laissant la ville en proie grimm et décident d'aider. Adam qui s'en prend à Blake et attaque Yang ? Conséquence, elles le tuent et ce n'est pas un moment joyeux. Les récents volumes montrent clairement les conséquences des héros et ne sont pas toujours dans le vrai. Si on voulait vraiment parler du fait qu'elles n'aient pas de conséquences bah les premiers volumes sont un exemple. Team rwby attaque Torchwick ? Balayé par Ozpin comme si rien ne s'était passé et accède à une autre mission un peu plus élevé

Controversial Opinion: Everyone is always saying Qrow is probably the most tragic character due to his semblance...but they showed that his mental state is what controls his semblance...so in my opinion Ironwood is the true victim to his semblance. He literally cannot do anything to change it, any time he is backed into a corner, his semblance makes him bunker down in an emotionless state and make decisions he would rather never make.

RWBY VOLUME 8 SPOILERS AHEAD I finished Volume 8 a few days ago and shortly thereafter learned about Ironwood's semblance. That recontextualized a LOT. Heck, everything really. For those who don't know, his semblance is called Mettle. It's a passive semblance and it strengthens his resolve to carry through with his decisions, helping him hyperfocus. If anything stands in between him and his goal, his semblance helps him to swiftly take action to remove it from the equation. And although hyper-focus can be good, it goes hand in hand with tunnelvision, meaning you become closed off to anything other than your goal. Not to mention, swiftly taking what stands in between his and his goal out of the equation... In Volume 8, with all the shit that was going on seemingly kicking his semblance into overdrive and causing it to spiral out of control, his empathy ended up on the chopping block. And honestly, this is as much Ironwood's fault as it is Qrow's that he brings bad luck where-ever he goes. Why did no one realize that this was happening? The way he behaved was completely out of line with the Ironwood we and the characters know. There's no way Ozpin and Winter didn't know about his semblance, maybe others too. Why was it never brought up? Why did everyone just condemn him for something that was out of his control and give up on him rather than try to help him? It's so friggin clear that the Ironwood in Volume 8 is just COMPLETELY unlike Ironwood before Volume 8 yet no one even questioned it. And if it was his semblance pushing him to do those things, shouldn't breaking his aura have caused him to snap out of it? Seriously, this man has been done a great injustice both by those who were supposed to know and care about him and the writers at RT. Edit: spoiler warning

@@Apotheosis Yeah, can get that. Don't blame you. I'm just really unhappy with the writers about this tbh. I really think this had a big impact on how they wrote him and failing to mention or even hint at it in the show is just bad writing. And Ironwood deserved so much better.

Hmmm... I wonder if anything could be done with game series like Metro or S.T.A.L.K.E.R.? Cause they are quite great and atmospherical, the way they can affect you is amazing, to be honest, I'm even trying to make a fanfic about a RWBY /S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Crossover, but unsure if I can do it properly.

@@Apotheosis yeah, they are, since you need to make sure that both parties can operate together without breaking each other. For example, the idea for my crossover is all suited with the fact of what type of potential the Zone from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. has in it's own way starting from Spatial Anomalies - basically a closed pocketed dimensions, working like Mebious Line in which no matter where you move, you'll return to the same direction (though, there is a certain exit, but it is unknown where exactly it could lead, opening one of the possible directions, as also things like a certain artifacts that can be created in those anomalies due to having different side effects and varieties of usage are open to give different things, giving a great potential to literally throw a person from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. verse of Earth to literally any verse and any world, which is why I was thinking of making a fanfic in a first place, as also due to a fact of how unique some characters from S.T.A.L.K.E.R., even if they are nothing, but a side ones are and due to what can be used as a tool to point New opportunities and affect the things differently, if dropped well.

Got to be honest I love RWBY but I was team Irondaddy all volume. All Team RWBY did was complain about everything instead of giving alternative plans. Ironwood was being realistic you can’t save everyone. RWBY wanted to do that yet never provided anyway of stopping Salem in order to save them. In fact by the end of the Vol NOTHING changed and no one accomplished anything. The writers made it seem like if you don’t agree with team RWBY (a bunch of inexperienced teens) then you’re the bad guy. So to be honest after Vol 7 I’m #teamirondaddy or #teamsalem 😅 Great AMV 10/10!
