Everything about RWBY Vs. the Nevermore is just so wonderful. The choreography, music, and and buildup all come together so perfectly to make a scene that remains one of my favourite scenes in anything, ever.

YOUR FACE!! When Ruby "decapitated" it, oh my gosh your face! I so love your reactions! Yeah, I was looking forward to your reaction to this all day. You did not disappoint, at all. And yeah, this episode is kinda like "The Avengers" of RWBY. The first time both teams come together, kicking ass as a group. The first of several unbelievably great action sequences throughout the series, but possibly the greatest, both because of the content and execution, and that fact that, well, it's the first.

Also, yeah like you said, they didn't necessarily pick the strongest of the four, but rather the one that takes charge in battle. Jon/John was giving orders in battle, and Ruby came up with the plan to defeat the Nevermore. A leader is more about your personality and ability to make calm and precise decisions in battle, then about your power.

They pick the most strategic people as the team leader, Jaune came up with the plan for the deathstalker and Ruby came up with the plan for the nevermore.

So yeah, one of THE best episodes of the volume 1. A cool fight scene combined with introduction to Ruby Rose's themesong, *Red like Roses Part II*. While song certainly is something that fires you up, it also has very relevant and quite dark lyrics about Ruby's character, her motivations for wanting to be a huntress and emotions of grief hiding behind playful and airheaded personality. Its essentially a metaphorical conversation between Ruby and someone she lost(hence the gravestone in her trailer). And it certainly helps to explain why she tries to stay positive, yet pushes herself so hard or can be somewhat reckless in proving herself. Talking about teams we now have *Team RWBY*(hence the show title) and *Team JNPR*. JNPR is interesting in that *all characters in that team are mythological cross-dressers*. You have *Lie Ren*(*Mulan*, who pretended to be a man to get into army), you have *Pyrrha Nikos*(*Achilles*, who in one of his mythos pretended to be a girl), you have *Jaune Arc*(*Joan of Arc*, who led armies under disguise of a man for awhile) and *Norra Valkyrie*(whose identity now is obvious with thunder-causing hammer and cross dressing theme - *Thor*, the norse god who in one of the legends pretended to be Queen Freya to fool a giant ) It kind of makes sense that Jaune and Ruby would be the leaders since they were the ones coordinating their teams during the fight and Ozpin was shown to be observing them last episode. We also got official names for the grimm types we encountered so far - a bear-thing that nora rode in on, *ursa*, a giant scorpion type, *deathstalker*(like the real life scorpion type) and a giant bird type *nevermore*. Its in no way the only Grimm types that exist, some are weaker and some are way more dangerous. Its a very very deadly world.

Yess!!! - We've finally arrived at the Greatness that is *Episode 8!* :D :D :D Also, Ruby and Weiss hitching a ride on that *Nevermore* (aka the birb-Grimm - one of my absolute favorite types of Grimm in the show) is always just so fucking priceless! xD Gotta love Nora, her enthusiasm never fails to put a giant grin on my face! The animation and choreography in this episode never ceases to amaze me, it's just so fucking amazing and truly beautiful to behold! Really love all the teamwork being displayed here, especially that moment where Pyrrha and Jaune use their shields together in order to block that Deathstalker's Claws. Speaking of which, I think that Jaune really held his own during this fight, and his leadership skills on making that call during mid-battle was pretty damn impressive as well. Though, I think my favorite moment had to be when Yang was blasting that Nevermore's beak in mid-air and of course the Badassery of Ruby dragging that same Nevermore up the cliff before decapitating it was just fucking phenomenal! x) But anyways, it sure looks like you're really starting to get into the show - But trust me this nothing compared to what lies ahead for you in the future haha x) Oh, and I LOVED your Reaction, it was fucking Brilliant! xD

Those cards at the end are the money in the RWBY world, called 'lien' (*lee*-in). Basically, from what we've seen, they don't use cash at all; they use money cards instead. Later on, you'll see that some characters have a bank card as well.

Something that most people don't pick up on when you first watch this episode, but becomes somewhat important if you catch it later in the series, is what each team collected as their chess piece and the roles they play in the series. I know I didn't catch it the first time but looking back at it now, oh my.

That's Monty. He defined this style. He did animations like no one else. Non the less, Vol. 3 is amazing. Rooster Teeth really honor him by doing his life's works so amazingly well. Also next really good fight scene is Ch. 16 I think. But vol. 2 and 3 have a higher quota of awesome action scenes (and a higher budget).

The "fake credit cards" is just the money in this world, called lien. The shopkeep in the first episode makes note of it saying, "Just take my lein and leave." But Torchwick assures him that he doesn't want his money. This was just the first time we get to see it. It's sort of hard to pick up on, and we aren't really even sure how it works or what the colours represent.

Would you believe, at this point in the series, Monty was animating the action sequences pretty much by himself? One person! Doing what you normally use an entire team for. In the storyboards they would just have a card at those points that said "Monty Action!"

I love Jaune, but it's still arguably the worst arch in the entire series. I can't think of episodes I like less than his whole Cardin thing. The development is the only reason I don't skip them every time I re-watch RWBY. But on a positive note, the worst arch being mid volume 1st volume with the following volumes being more and more intense is a good thing.

+Sephlyn I think the Jaune arc is not just character development, its utilized to remind everyone that these ARE just high schoolers. That there is a lot they have left to learn regardless of how well they fight or how mature they might act in a given situation. Volume 2 does the same thing with the characters for at least half the season. The Jaune arc is just particularly...cringe worthy if you've been in a similar situation which most have so its difficult to watch.
