Actually the swords come out of Penny's backpack, which is ridiculously easy to miss. I didn't spot the backpack literally for the first dozen times watching the episode, but now that I have spotted it, it's easy to recognize. Great reaction!

This is a PSA for all the commentors on this channel, not just on this video or series. I've noticed recently that we as a whole haven't learned from the near-miss with Pyrrha that got Torchwood understandably pissed off. Without calling attention to any specific comments, let's just say I have concern that in the future, plot elements will be introduced that will culminate in big reveals, and we'll say things like "Looking back on ___________, I'm sad/happy/angry that ____________ happened" or "Don't worry, __________ gets resolved soon". I'd like to remind everyone that even if something is not explicitly spoiled in your comment, the way it is said can lead the reactor's thoughts to make predictions they would otherwise have no precedent for. That ruins the surprise of the reactor and, as a result, the enjoyment of the viewer. So please, in the future, can we discuss events that have already happened, and not events that are to happen? Even something as simple as "Nobody spoil ___________ for him" can cause unexpected harm. Thus far, I think nothing in the comments is particularly dangerous, but that could change at any moment, so let's please allow a great KZbinr to continue having fun uninterrupted I've done my best to stay vague and innocuous throughout this comment, but it's still possible this will spoil something. If anyone, be it Torchwood or another commentor, sees something that could potentially tip someone off, let me know and accept my sincerest apologies.

I love Son's weapons, he has 9 in one The Staff(1) splits into 2 smaller sticks (2 and 3) each small staff splits into nunchucks, (4 and 5) each piece of the nunchucks is a gun (6,7,8,9) How amazing, I love it.

Character development and animation both get a major boost in season 2. Season 3 is just stunning in terms of animation and story. I can't even imagine how good season 4 will look.

lol what you see in that fight scene isn't Blake's speed, its her semblance in play. She leaves an after image of herself behind to take the hit. Ruby's semblance is speed. Not sure if this counts as a spoiler considering this is the episode its highlighted in but I'm sure someone will jump me if its considered one...

+dragonflywhisp Errr. Yes it counts as a spoiler. Blake's semblance is explained WAY WAY latter. You are in no way in hell supposed to knwo that NOW. That's no different than explaining something like weiss semblance in detail. At this point in series people were speculating like crazy on what Blake's semblance is based on what we see. So yeah, its a spoiler.Congrats....Oh well...AT least its something relatively minor in grand scheme of things.

See I don't get that mindset at all. I see it as the same as having the info as Monty, the king of twitter hints, released it if you were following this show when it premiered. By this episode everyone knew that semblance, as well as MANY other things that alot of reactors are for some reason not being told about that are basics for the characters. Its like knowing an inside joke and not letting someone in on it. Next you'll be saying telling the fable/fairytale/legend any character is based on is a spoiler. Aside from that this semblance doesn't affect storyline in the manner you're talking about, knowing what it is says nothing more than "This is what you're seeing"

dragonflywhisp Except that at the time this aired nobody knew what her semblance was. Again its nothing major, but still. The speculation that its agility based was quite common back then and I don't exactly remember when monty himself talked about the semblance. Hell, figuring out it has something to do with dodging is possible, but the exact mechanics is a minor spoiler. Monty hinted at a LOT of stuff. Does not meant hat those hints need to be interpreted now as "obvious" with future knowledge. As for what fairytale characters are based on - how big of a spoiler it is, it matters on case by case basis. Stating that someone is based on something is nothing big(as long as there are enough hints there), but stating HOW and IF those fairy tales connect to upcoming story plots is a spoiler(and yes it is relevant, only complete newbies to this show claim that the fairy tales don't matter. By this episode we already see a lot of it matter in terms of Blake's characterization, Jaune's interaction with cardinal of winchester, etc already) Again that's *only* a very minor spoiler. Its on the level of dumb "look out for character x, he/she will be back!" Kind of spoilers but speculating things like semblances is half the fun about this experience. Especially in this case where it is very clearly revealed latter on. And at this point we only have confirmed Weiss Ruby and Pyrrha.

They did know. When it aired it was asked and answered in the comments immediately for those that didn't catch it. And no it doesn't matter case by case who is based on what. The base doesn't define the character in this world that's been created. While I get there has been a RASH of trolls when it comes to spoiling the reactors when it comes to this series, my having pointed out Blake's semblance in no way leads to anything but saying "The blur is an after image". This IS the episode it was highlighted in. You're splitting hairs on the spoiler aspect without taking into account it spoils nothing. Knowing its an after image does not in any way have anything to do with the storyline. You're being abrasive over character development that comes later on and that would be spoiling. Its the same as saying Weiss uses glyphs. That Ruby has speed. Its semblances that are seen. He mistook it for speed so I corrected it. Not sure why allowing him the knowledge so the next fight he can pay attention and see it causes anything to be spoiled.

Loved your reactions to the last two episodes! Personally some of my favorite episodes of volume one. Also quick tip, the swords didn't come out of Penny's back she wears a back pack and that is where they come from. The back pack gets more defined in later animations cause it is easy to miss especially in this episode. I'm glad you're enjoying RWBY and I can't wait for future reactions! Also don't forget to watch the World Of Remnant videos! They give you a better knowledge of how some things work and better back story of specific things. Finally PLEASE PLEASE avoid spoilers!!!!!

So now you've been officially introduced to the mystery woman from the first episode. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say her name, because I can't remember if she's credited at the end of the volume or not. The other two would definitely be spoilery to talk about, so I won't say anything about them. As far as what to expect from volume 2, the animation, fight scenes and voice acting take a big step forward. Thank you for the treat of two reactions in a day and I can't wait to see you react to the rest of the series!

Hmmmm, a girl named *Penny* who does not have many friends and uses swords(that come out of inside her back no less) on strings to fight. Hmm. I guess we got our *Pinocchio*, which is kind of ironic since Roman Torchwick is based upon *Candlewick* - a redheaded child thief who bullies Pinocchio in his story, so it is hilarious to see Penny ruin his day a bit. Well, this Pinocchio certainly has strings on her, as Pinocchio's song goes, but they are not holding her down - they are making her a badass. At the same time, we get to see Weiss character development as her worry for her team mate and her anger for her having running away, outweighs her prejudice against terrorist group that made her childhood hell. We could have seen her going towards that thought when she said her "innocent never run" line, as it clearly indicated that Weiss is hurt about the actual running away fact more. And at the same time, via Penny's talk with Ruby we see narrative not exonerate Blake for her lack of communication and for her running away instead of trying to solve the problem with her team. In the end both Weiss and Blake have to actually face each other and put behind their pasts to work together. Via Blake side of story we also get more insight into the white fang - as much as Blake was in denial, the White Fang does seem to be responsible for dust robberies and does seem to be working together with a human(nice racist "you animals" slurs Roman, btw...). Its clear that she was unable to let go the idea of the organization she grew up in having changed so much. She runs away from her problems to deal with it, but here she is, facing the White Fang again and being forced to realize that it is no longer the same organization that fought for equality and coexistance. Running away seems to be kind of a theme with Blake, since that's the main aspect we see of Blake in her Black trailer - and her monologue makes it clear on WHY she ran away in that scene - that was her leaving the white fang. Hell, even wearing her ribbon to hide her heritage IS kind of all about running away. *What's ironic is that Jaune's story arc helps to explain Blake being here* - We know from Jaune's arc that Jaune got into Beacon with faked documentation and transcripts. And if a guy like Jaune can do that, obviously Blake, a former member of a terrorist organization, can do the same. It continues the theme of unconnected story arcs building up upon each other that I mentioned before. But as it is usual for end of seasons, not everything is tied up neatly - The mystery of what is going on with Torchwick, White Fang and so on is not solved, Penny leaves in a car of someone we don't know, Roman receives visit from the woman who fought Glynda in the first episode and Ozpin receives an ominous message from Qrow, Ruby's Teacher and Uncle that Ruby mentioned in the first episode.

Penny gets a lot more screen time in season 2. You learn a lot about her past. Not as much screen time in season 3 unfortunately, but that is mostly due to the story focusing on other characters.
