While I don't see them becoming a couple, I do see them having some kind of friendship bond. I think Jaune may become to Neo what Roman was to her. A mentor and someone she will protect and trust. There still needs to be a talk about Jaune eventual trauma over killing Penny

The way I see Jaune's character being utilized in volume 9 is like this; Neo will need Jaune to help her with her trauma, sympathizing with the lost of someone they cared about, and making her see the light of day. Roman may have had her best interest at heart, but he was a bad influence. Anybody that hangs with him is gonna become a targeted as a criminal, not that she cared, but no one should be about that life. Unfortunately, Neo should of known, the life he chose was gonna either get him throne in prison or end up dead. The ladder happend. Pent up with all of that anger and wanting to take revenge on someone that had nothing to do his death, was a prime target for Cinder to use and exploit, and got her to where she is now. Jaune will be what Roman was; an ally she can trust. But Jaune will also be something that Roman wasn't; a good influence. Jaune has seemingly let go of his anger for Cinder, it's time she does the the same with Ruby. Ultimately, Jaune will be that someone Neo can rely on and a shoulder to cry on. A true bond, built on the foundation of love lost. Meanwhile, Jaune will need Weiss to help him deal with the fact that he killed Penny, and she is the only person that can defend his actions when he breaks the news to the others, because she was the only one there when it happend. No matter how you spin it, Jaune will be in a world of hurt next volume. Weiss will be the only person that can get him through it, and to finally have those two just talk about anything. Who they were before and how they've changed now, both will show who they have become, and it might take them by surprise by how much the vision of themselves back at beacon has drastically change their opinions and maybe even feelings about each other. Ultimately, this unfortunate event could lead to something greater for those two. In the end, either way, whether this leads to a White knight or a Silent knight endgame, there is no doubt in my mind that Jaune (assuming he survives the volume) will leave the island with a new strong bond or bonds; platonic or romantic. Just give the boy a break!

@@ryinreyner3782 While I agree with everything you said about Jaune and Neo. That would be a great part to happen, there is one small problem with the Weiss and Jaune part. Most people assume Weiss knows Jaune killed Penny, but in actuality she doesn't. She was knocked out when Jaune killed Penny, so she didn't see it happen. All she knows is that Penny is dead and her sister is the new Maiden. What would you believe, that your friend was killed by your enemy or by another friend? Other than that, everything else you said about Weiss and Jaune would be perfect. Her being the one to help Jaune through his trauma, them remembering how they were at Beacon and how they changed, plus Weiss finally thanking him for saving her life back at Haven. I think this next Volume will take a giant leap towards White Knight. I don't think it'll be canon, but it will be driven in that direction. There are too many clues not to think White Knight is going to happen

@@ryinreyner3782 More likely a White Knight given that Wiess did see the events and she would likely be the only one that can vouch in Juane's defense well Ruby and Yang tries to rip him apart. Blake may or may not interfere given she is likely the only other person that could see the bigger picture but I could see her seeing Juane as another potential ironwood or just siding with Yang if only to insure she doesn't lose anyone else. It would be the perfect and really only time for Wiess and Juane to actually talk and there has been hints of Wiess interest in Juane since they were reunited initially. So a romantic relationship between the two might actually form. As for Neo. Honestly I see her becoming something of sister figure for Juane. The girl doesn't need a romantic relationship she needs a support figure like a father figure or brother type figure. At this point she's bound to be a emotional wreck like Ruby will be and she likely would go to anyone that will be willing to deal with her. Especially when she finds out Ruby didn't kill Torchwick and pretty much the whole fiasco was Cinder and Salems fault. Wiess doesn't really have that many issues with Neo as much as Ruby or Yang and Blake has and if the groups seperate until they find a way out Neo will likely join Wiess and Juane. Both whom are likely to be closer to parental figures or support figures than the two sisters and the cat would be and then we can see how good of a brother figure Juane can actually be given that he was supposed to be the only male sibling with around 7 sisters.

Jaune and Neo are so different with almost every aspect of their characters and yet, as you said, have some shared experiences, they make great foils to each other . Jaune is a tall and well built young man with blond hair and blue eyes / Neo is a very short and thin more mature (a little bit) woman with heterochromia and dyed hair. Jaune wears very casual cloth and act with clumsiness / Neo's cloth and manners are very elaborated. Jaune is easily talkative (maybe to much) / Neo is mute. Jaune comes from a huge familly (10 people in the house) from middle class (Jaune doesn't seem rich, but his parents could afford journey far from home) with a fighting background / Neo is a unique child from a wealthy familly with a buisiness background. Jaune's weapons are a iconic combinaison (sword and shield) and he relies on defensive combat stances (he's a paladin) / Neo uses a customed fashion accessory and relies on very acrobatic moves (she's a rogue/assassin). Yet, the two tend to rely on counter attacks, when they attack first they tend to be not very efficient (Jaune vs Cinder at Haven, Neo being trapped to her fall by Ruby). Jaune's semblance amplifies what already exists and he uses it to help people / Neo's semblance creates from nowhere and she uses it to lure people. This kind of very contrasting character tend to lead to interesting interaction in fiction, so it's very likely in the context of season 9, they will have meaningfull interactions Also every D&D player knows Rogue + Paladin is a hell of a killteam.

Sure, but it wasn't Ruby's fault. I wonder what's going to happen if/when she realizes this. But with these writers? I doubt they'll even touch on that. They're too busy with hooking Blake up with Yang, and meaningless character additions that only last a handful of scenes before they're forgotten entirely.

Jaune was present when Yang went over and Blake yelled out "YANG!" Recall her scream got everyone's attention. It drew Penny back into the fight, and Jaune's response was to refocus Nora, reminding her that getting the people out was priority one but also telling her to get help which is why Nora went through the portal instead of staying to throw hands against Cinder and Neo.

Jaune helping Neo redeem herself does sound a lot more possible now. It would be interesting to Jaune help Neo and Team RWBY get along. I can see Neo getting anger with Jaune when she realizes he still someone to rely on.

Ive got a specific scene in mind, but I think something like this could work so bare with me. Also this scenario I came up with could take place after Neo and Jaune's possible bonding. Neo runs into Team RWBY and they are NOT happy. Obviously they dont trust her, so they ready what little weaponry and strength they have and begin a brawl. (Whether Neo's and the others' semblance work is debatable so I'll just assume it's Team RWBY attacking Neo while she just dodges with little room to counter attack) The fight carries on for a while due to Neo's experience and Team RWBY's coordination. Neither side being able to have an edge until Ruby gets a lucky shot in, knocking Neo down. Everyone is surprised that the attack worked. But before anyone can react, Blake, in a flying rage, attacks Neo. Neo braces herself, but she looks up to Jaune taking the punch directly to the face, knocking him to the ground. Everyone is EVEN MORE surprised! Jaune then explains how Neo is the same boat as them and that they shouldn't be fighting a place where survival and teamwork is currently key. Obviously no one likes this idea, but Jaune insists on it. No one lowers their guard, and Blake is angry enough to suggest that Jaune is just an illusion of Neo's, but Ruby clarifies that Jaune was smacked dab in the face. If he was an illusion, he would've shattered on the spot. Blake tried to come up with something to say, but can't deny Ruby's experience against Neo, so she instead yells at Jaune, asking why he would defend Neo. Jaune states that he knows she has done bad things in the past, but he believes that she was just in the wrong crowd for a time. She was a pawn just Emerald. After Jaune finishes, he gets up and helps Neo to her feet. Blake is still angry, but Jaune suggests that they need to get anyone they can and stick together for as long as they can. For they don't know how long they'll beat trapped down there. Again, Blake questions Jaune's place in trust. Jaune then yells at Blake, saying how he's done the exact same thing but in a different way. He says that he lied to everyone at Beacon, that he cheated his way into the school, and that by hanging out with the wrong crowd he almost made a big mistake. Everyone is silent. Neo looks almost confused, yet impressed. Jaune then says that because people believed in him, he became a better person. Jaune then decides to start walking, and asks if they are coming, because it was his decision to take this path, he just needed a little push. He believes the same can happen for Neo. Soooooo yeah. First off: How long do you think it will take from when they wake up till they realize they’re not in the land of the dead? Second, can definitely see the fight with Ruby and Neo going in the line of Ruby immediately going on the attack while Neo being at her lowest point as you say just sort of standing there accepting her death and seeing her mood like that Ruby immediately stops. Also, I don’t think Neo ever actually trusted Cinder more like she was just a means to an end.

Once they are able to leave the other world, Jaune could help her Neo become Trivia Vanille once again. His ability to supercharge others semblances could help kick start Trivia's semblance to allow Neo to be a separate person; even if she ends up in jail for what she's done, it would allow her to not be alone.

The only difference is that adam was trying to kill blake the entire time cause he felt petty when blake betrayed him and that forced blake and yang to kill him out of self defense while jaune had to mercy kill penny in order for cinder to not get the winter maidens powers (and for the fact that he didn't have a choice in the matter. It was more like an ultimatum to be honest) but it will be interesting to see jaune and blake to interact with each other since i don't recall them having interacted through the whole show

@@PrincessLockette i actually think that everyone even blake might be mad a jaune for killing penny. remember they were trying to prevent penny from dying throughout volume 8 and with the whole cinder fucking everything up and injuring penny that kinda screwed everything up makeing the whole saving penny from certain death worthless in the end which sucks. also even though i believe that jaune semblance is more than just being a support semblance like everyone says he uses it as a support for his friends and team RWBY might blame him for not only healing penny but taking her life too and also since cinder is not in the other world with them they're gonna take there anger out on jaune (to be frank his semblance is like salems immortality a blessing a curse) the only person i can see who might understand his choice is weiss but im not even sure if she knew what was going on when jaune decided to kill penny or if she was conscious during it since she was fighting cinder.

I would love to see Neo and Jaune vs Cinder. I don't want Jaune to be super angry (and therefore sloppy) like he was in volume 5 though. Not a fight of revenge, more like justice. I think it would be the best way to wrap up the stories of Neo/Roman and Jaune/Pyrrha.

I feel like there is so much to unpack when the next volume starts that virtually anything could happen in this other world. Though the more I listen to this video the more I think that this theory makes sense. Why have Jaune go through all of this suffering unless it is going to lead somewhere? With his weapon and spirit broken there is some reforging in order. I just wish that we had even a hint of information to go on here.

I think for a while that Jaune will be a support for Neo too, maybe he'll have to evacuate himself about what happened and Penny's death before, because he might also be in a weird state of mind right now. But I definitely can see him later open up to her and the two of them over their past and the people they lost ! I really enjoy your videos, I love watching them waiting for Volume 9 :)

The way that I see a possibility of Jaune and Neo being friends is that when they fight off against each other, he would try to calm her down and offer to teach her American Sign Language (ASL). I'm saying ASL because the show is of American origin; so, this possibility is not far off due to Jaune having seven sisters, with the possibility of one of them being deaf or hard of hearing. This could lead to a new understanding of the character and help flesh out Neo and Jaune.

It will be interesting if Neo finds Crescent Rose Weiss Ember Shroud Blake Hush And Ruby Myrtenaster Everyone getting weapon shuffled and needing to get accustomed to drastically different weapons Neo getting use to the mass of C.R. possibly also the recoil from shooting a gun that big and powerful. Blake the lack of versitilty of Hush Weiss the limited storage and different complex forms of E.S. And Ruby the light weight limited range I think without the Glyphs the dust would not have the same range of attack she's seen from Wiess so she can't just imitate and dust options of Myrtenaster could be more extensive then she's use to not beimg a dust speacist. Jaune and Yang still had their respective weapons in hand as they fell so they would be harder to convincingly shuffle. And going with the semblance theory if that does come to past and if they get their weapons shuffled then they suddenly have a much bigger arenal of weapons to be skilled in and Jaune needs a new sword and I can see the arm needing maintance which she's not qualified to do from water sand or both.

While I am no shipper of, well anything really (I just don't like the concept of shipping) I can still see the possibility of a, well not quite friendship, but mutual understanding forming between the two. or at the very least he could get her off the path of vengeance, or failing that, turn her vengeful sight back onto Cinder and Salem. Neo has too much of Roman's cynicism and jaded world view to ever really join the good guys, plus she is the happy-go-lucky psycho ice cream gremlin.

I'm calling it, Jaune helps Neo, Neo gets big development and when the gang gets out of wherever they are, Neo sacrifices herself so that the gang can defeat Cinder once and for all and as she dies in Jaune's arms, she whispers something into his ear that we don't get to hear and it's a whole dramatic scene

At the very least they'd agree to partner up in order to avenge the red heads that they loved and lost due to Cinder. After that well, Neopolitan was Roman Torchwick's partner, Trivia Vanille(Neo's brith name) on the other hand could a friend in Jaune Arc.

If Neo gets a redemption arc, it will be in Volume 9. She does not know that Roman was killed by the Grimm, and Ruby can use the argument that Cinder sent the Grimm to Beacon, so it is her fault that Roman is dead. Ruby actually gave Neo her revenge by killing the Grimm, so Neo should be thanking Ruby instead of trying to kill her. Jaune could convince her that there are healthier ways of coping with the loss by telling her about how he learned to cope with losing Pyrrha and how he felt happier fighting by Oscar/Ozpin's side instead of having a consistent grudge.

it would be interesting to see if her semblance doesn't work, because if that was the case, i have a Feeling Jaune wouldn't catch on to who it was he met. after all having been thrown into an unknown environment sets off ones survival instincts. Neo would get an honest and unbiased treatment from Jaune, who is naturally good. only when he realizes who it is he looked after will he truly wonder if Neo can be trusted. and depending on how long neo is without her semblance, maybe long enough to trust her to not stab him or ruby in the back.

Neo's going to get help from Juan and learn to trust again. It's going to take a LONG LONG time but I believe it's possible. I also have a feeling that Jaun that will be able to connect with Neo because they've both lost someone important to them. As for Emerald I'm going to hope for the same outcome.

I honestly think they all will have a bone to pick with neo, since she aided in the death of penny. The only likely chance is that she is placed into a corner and one for the characters decide to sympathize with her and the best likely option would be Jaune.

Jaune and Neo lost the only real person that truly believed in them from the start of their inital meetings because of Cinder. Roman accepted Neo while Pyrrha trained Jaune. Likewise Neo probably helped train Roman a little while Jaune accepted/ never cared about Pyrrha's celebrity status.

Once again I ask, What happened to Roman!? We need to know. The man was a criminal mastermind and still had his weapon when he was attacked by the gryphon grimm at beacon. Surely he's going to show up again at least for the final battle? I think it would be poetic for him to be the one to end Salem, especially since if it weren't for him and his delusions of grandeur that Beacon wouldn't have fallen so easily.

I have the feeling Jaune is going to be the mediator between Neo and Team RWBY. Jaune will probably realize that fighting amongst each other won't solve the problem of being stuck in a tropical setting with no clear of escaping, and begrudgingly working together is the only chance they have.

I'm thinking something. The last we saw Neo's growth in semblance, she transformed an entire ship to look like another. If she and Jaune partner up. His semblance being to enhance others semblances. What do you think might happen?

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Jaune's boost could allow Neo to mask an entire small town in an illusion. To hide it from enemies or something like that (maybe the red queens forces in wonderland even)

I was and still am against Emerald getting a redemption, but I'll give it a pass if they give the same treatment to my boi Mercury. I think the volume has been set up perfectly so that Jaune and Neo could both be at their lowest point, and rather than Jaune acting as a guide for Neo, I think we'll see the two of them walking a path of self discovery and recovery side by side together

Still agree that Jaune is the most likely to help Neo. But first, I think Jaune himself will need some help because of what he did to Penny. And here, Ruby would come into play. It would be a very difficult discussion between Ruby and Jaune but in the end, it would help Jaune in his grief because Ruby would eventually understand that Penny made the right choice by asking to be killed and Jaune made the right choice by killing her... The characters' interactions in V9 will be very interesting and will very much depend I think about in which order the characters meet each other.

I love Neo but it’s gonna take a miracle for her to get any sliver of redemption and I just don’t see how they can pull it off in a believable way. I don’t want them to force a redemption arc for a character just because she’s popular. Emerald was different. She was on the wrong side but she didn’t really do anything that bad. She was kinda just there. Neo on the other hand stole a potential world ending relic and actively tried to murder them multiple times with a smile on her face. I don’t see any realistic situation where team RWBY plus Jaune would be willing to talk things out. Especially because they all just went through a horrendous ordeal and on top of that Neo is still trying to kill Ruby in the v9 sneak peak and on top of THAT they literally just watched her “kill” Yang. Not to mention that communicating with her in general is gonna be difficult because she can’t speak.

I like your thought process. 😄I can certainly see how you came to the conclusions you have and I would have agreed before the end of Volume 8. Now though I just don't see how it could happen. Before he was forced to end Penny's life? Absolutley, yes. Now and with one of the people responsible for putting him in that situation? No. I get the thinking though, I mean why else is he even there if not to connect with the other extra person? They have so many similarities, surely they will be friends? I still don't agree though. I think that their similarities will instead be used to show team RWBY, and the audience, the message that runs through the show while the girls grapple with news of Penny's death. That we have to keep moving forward, in spite of our hardships. They will be used to show what happens to people who obsess over someones death, like Neo is, instead of accepting it, like Jaune has. It's a shame, but as far as Jaune and Neo interaction goes, the best we will probably get is Jaune interrupting a fight between Neo and RWBY because he can't stand to watch someone else die. Now if they all get back to Remnant, I can see them warming up slightly to Neo, but it will be a long and hard road I think. The thing about Emerald is that she and Mercury happily murdered Tukson at the beginning on volume 2. They worked as a team to build up the anticipation of the kill and then executed him. Then they bragged about it to Cinder in the hopes of headpats and to get Roman in trouble for not doing it himself, since Cinder had given that job to him. The best you can say is that Emerald deserves her redemption because she regrets some of the things she's done. Neo won't deserve redemption until she feels regret and attempts to do the right thing, though her sins are lesser than Emerald's. She has consistantly failed to kill the person she's intended to. Yang? Raven intervened. Cinder? Maiden powers intervened. Maria? Penny intervened. Ruby? Yang intervened. Ruby? Ruby outwitted her and then Cinder backstabbed her. Ruby whilst falling through the world? Ruby broke free and used gravity and her larger mass to her advantage to save herself. The worst thing Neo's done so far is harbour killing intent, which she absolutley doesn't regret. I think that's going to be the hardest thing to overcome and will be the deciding factor on if she ends up the villian of the volume or not. I'll end this rambling mess of a comment with a small side note. 😉 I still agree wholeheartedly that Roman is alive and I hope you have some theories about what he's been up to all this time!😃

Here's what I think would happen between Jaune and neo, after Jaune talk with ruby and wiess about panny ruby would for the first time want to kill and she goes after Jaune wiess trys to help Jaune out and neo shows up for revenge but she is ignored but she joins in anyway, wiess would use her semblance to stop ruby and neo fights. She picks up Jaune up neo gets jealous and escape so Jaune splits up with a girl's going after neo and they have that big heart to heart and travel till meeting up with the complete team Rwby (depending on how ruby is till the halfway point) and that's it.

Come to think of it, since the show seems to show team RWBY telling team JNR stuff off screen *Blake being a faunus, Raven is Yang's mom, and Neo herself,* Do you think Jaune knows how Torchwick died? Think about it for a second. Imagine Neo is attacking Jaune and while Jaune is using her shield to block, he starts questioning her on why is she attacking them, why did she team up with Cinder after she got her partner kill by being eaten by a grimm. Think of the gut punch that will be for her as Jaune tells her they Ruby would have died if not for that grimm that ate Roman. The grimm the Cinder got to come and attack the kingdom. Neo will realize she got played by Cinder. Plus, Jaune could tell her about how cinder killed his partner and the two team up to later to kill Cinder.

Phoenix stick to theory crafting, your not much of a scene writer way I see their meeting is Jaune wakes up searches around finds neo’s weapon holds onto it later on neo finds jaune wait for an opportunity to retrieve her weapon gets careless and jaune gets alerted to her but they either find themselves in a “quicksand scenario” or their ambushed by possible residence in witch case they have to put their trust into each other to survive, hec if you want to you can have jaune vouch for neo when reunited with RWBY

There is zero question on if Neo has killed people or not. She helped Cinder and Watts massacre an entire room full of innocent people in the Atlas control room. And she killed an entire ship worth of soldiers in Volume 3. Honestly, her body count is very high lol. Redeeming her is going to be A LOT harder to write than Emerald. Whatever happens though, I just hope she gets some real development like the book gave her.
