Most people seem to ignore that Team CRDL is actually fairly skilled. Each was able to hold their own for at least a couple of strikes, and Russel (Mohawk) and Cardin showed enough skill to block bullets

Even with Team CRDL's numbers advantage, it's clear Pyrrha is in another league altogether. Maybe if they weren't fighting the RWBY equivalent of Muhammad Ali, they'd stand a better chance.

2:20 This is the one scene where I had to watch slowed down to 0.5 to really appreciate all the frame by frame work Monty put in to it. "A labor of love" is putting it mildly. After this one I went back to the RWBY trailers and watched them at 0.5 speed...holy crap. 😯

Something people forget about romance in fiction is that people aren't rational, while we do feel emotions for reasons, reason isn't the cause of emotion, it's a tool we use to interpret it. Jaune is, at this point, attracted to Weiss, and has shown no indication that he's attracted to Pyrrha. He comes up with reasons why he's attracted to Weiss, but those are rationalizations, post-hoc. Most of what we feel is caused subconsciously, and we're often wrong about what caused the emotion when we guess. So far, Jaune can rationally recognize that Pyrrha is attractive (note that I'm not exclusively referring to physical features throughout this when I use attraction), but he is not attracted to her, or at least has shown no indications that he is. Pyrrha liking him is not sufficient justification for him to be interested in her, and if he's not interested, there's no obligation for him to try dating her just because the girl he's interested in doesn't like him. Imagine if the gender roles were reversed here, Achilles likes Jean, who likes... Albus (preserving the meaning of her name). Albus has repeatedly turned Jean doen, Jean has shown no interest in Achilles. So Jean should go out with someone they've shown no interest in because they're interested in her, the person she's interested in has turned her down, and Achilles _is_ interested in her? If no, this is what is called a double standard.

the reason why their necks don't fully match their skin tones is because they're shaded. In traditional anime you'd typically see only half of their necks shaded or the triangle shadow, but since this was created with 3d technology it seems to be a permanent shadow to let you focus on the face more.

12:25 It is supposed to represent the difference in shading due to the shadow of their head. It doesn't always work out.

That and the models are a little mixed match. So the body, the head and hands paste together from different parts from different models. Example: Glynda and Ruby share the same face/head.

I hope you keep up the trend of listening to each season's soundtrack after finishing that season, because RWBY loves to do a lot of show don't tell with its character's feelings, but the songs lay them out pretty plainly most of the time. The opening fills in the situation for the season, then every song is connected to a character and how they feel during the part, or their response to another character or event. It gives a lot of insight more than just what you read from the show

never really thought about jaune's crush on weiss as something he felt necessary to complete his "ideal self" image, but it does make perfect sense. he barely knows her personality, but is head over heels for her. also about what pyrrha sees in him i'd say whenever he is not playing hero he's really kind and sweet haha i feel like his approachable personality (like, he was the first to approach ruby as well) was probably a breath of fresh air not only for pyrrha, but for ren and nora as well, who are probably too used to living in their own world. great post episode discussion!

One of several favorite favorite episodes of mine in V2. Pyrrah, best wing-woman. Best Girl. I always get a chuckle from Emerald's reaction to Ruby about her "friend" being "pretty good". That look is one of 'boring. you have no idea.' And yeah, Mercury was just trying to discovery her quirk that makes her so good.

One of the better chapters in this volume. Pyrrha shows off her badassery in a Monty-coreographed fight; I'd give Mercury kudos for his ploy if he was just a student; and Blake is getting some development. It's hard to tell, but Cinder is sewing in the final scene... and the neck thing? Shadows. Lighting. Assuming the light source is above, the head would shadow the front of the neck. The animation improves in volume 3, but I think the lighting doesn't, until they switch to the new engine for volume 4? It's been a while...

If you're curious about Mercury's weapon, I suggest you take a closer look at his boots, and then try and work out who he may be based on (Hint, think about his name too). Also, it's blink and you miss it, but we get a brief shot of the rest of Suns team right before Sun asks Blake to the dance. This is the first time we hear the name of a team "coffee" (or rather, CVFY). We may or may not see them later. They also may or may not be total badasses.

Fun Facts: Fact 1: Some of the first scenes of the fight are the same ones used in the Volume 2 Opening. Fact 2: Cinder's comment about Pyrrha being fated for victory is possibly a reference to the root of her last name, (Νίκος), Greek meaning "victor of the people". Fact 3: Emerald was originally meant to be wearing her uniform disguise while spectating Mercury sparring with Pyrrha, as evidenced by early images. Fact 4: The fight between Pyrrha and Mercury was animated by Shane Newville. Shane took motion data used from his "Megaman X Fanimation" for when Mercury springboarded off of Akoúo̱. Fact 5: RWBY Rex can be seen in the background of Pyrrha and Mercury's fight, sitting in the back row.

Still, 11 hours of holiday pay of literally just sitting there watching KZbin (I work security and when the holidays roll around, our site shuts down so it becomes pretty lax/chill for the guards.) So I’m new to the channel. I’ve almost caught up on the dbza reactions and I see you’re doing rwby now. I have a great show for you two if you okay with some more adult language. I very very highly recommend rooster teeth’s first show, red vs blue. It’s my all time favorite show and I’ve watched at least 5 other channels react to it all the way through, so it’d be great to see someone else new to the series. I can even make a quick watch order for the seasons and miniseries if you’d like so you can watch all the content how it’s supposed to be viewed. I own the first 13 seasons on Blu-ray and I’ve watched the whole series at least a dozen times so I can quickly make you a guide if you’d like to watch it. Another great episode. We get to see a little more into some characters like Weiss and Jean. Jean doesn't realize how epic he is. So much untapped potential that can be awakened if he puts his mind to it. I love his character

He is a great up and down character. Sometimes we love him and other times he disappoints. But that makes him relatable character because it’s not often someone just instantly turns the corner and overcomes all their flaws 🙂
