Something to be noted about Cold is that Jeff and Casey Williams made that song as tribute to Monty Oum, creator of the show who sadly passed away due to an allergic reaction. They said (paraphrased) that while they know it could apply to Jaune and Pyrhha, Cold was primarily their farewell to Monty, and it describes how he helped them. Always brings a tear to my eye. Love the reactions. I'd recommend a healthy dose of RWBY chibi to recover.

Adding on to this amazing explanation, there's a line that goes "but your star's still in the sky, so I won't say goodbye." This is a reference to the fact that a fan of the show bought the rights to name a star and they named it after Monty. This fan then gave the plaque to Rooster Teeth as a gift.

@@SebasTian58323 that is certainly an opinion. To clarify, I certainly don't claim Salem is good, jokes aside with council of justice, but Oz to me wants to be the good guy and chooses not to be. He is training new adults so they can die. Knowing the only result is their death.

Is he supposed to just let Salem do whatever she wants while he just actually sits back and gives her the relics? Or is it better to try to bring mankind together, and keep fighting against the Grimm and her? He's one man, many times weaker than he was when they first fought, and she has control over the Grimm. He literally cannot fight her and the Grimm by himself. He fought her at the peak of his power, and while he did briefly destroy her body, it nearly killed him in the fight and then she regenerated completely and killed him. Since then he's spit his power into four, given it to the maidens, used some of what's left to let qrow and Raven turn into birds, and he's also said his remaining magic is getting weaker. So what's exactly is he supposed to do, other than train people to fight back against the end of the entire planet? He's clearly been trying to bring humanity together. He stopped the great war, created the huntsman academies, no doubt he was involved in the creation of the vytal festival, which lets all the kingdoms interact with each other every couple years... I'm really not sure what else he could be doing.

However, outside of creeper stalker tendencies, he no longer cares about any of those he's supposed to be teaching/leading. Ironwood also sees the people as components, as a leader of military needs to, but he still cares about the people. Not going into spoiler territory, but even back to volume 1, you can see he no longer cares about his pawns. At least until a "useful" one comes along, then he'll stalk.

My favourite song from this volume must "I'm the one". The lyrics are Just so badass and it touch on Mercury and Emerald backstories and it kinda makes me sad for them because if you think about it none of them are with Cinder because they are evil, Emerald was a homeless street rat that Just didn't want to be hungry, Mercury was abused and beaten by his father since he was little and when he killed him he didn't had anywhere to go

The most interesting thing about "Cold" is how it pertains to the real world. In the middle of production for Volume 3, Monty Oum passed away. Jeff Williams wrote this song in memory of Monty; they were very good friends and the general consensus is that Monty could have pulled Jeff out of a situation with no hope, helping the song take form after he passed. The other interesting fact with the song is the line "But your star's still in the sky". After Monty passed, the members of RT named a specific star in the night sky after Monty - it's one of the brightest ones if you look up in the summertime here in America. It's an amazing tribute to a man we lost so early in a life that could have been filled with much more prevalence.

A nice thing to catch is that the beginning of "When It Falls"'s bridge (2:41) echoes to Cinder's speech to the world in chapter 9, starting with : "This is not a tragedy. This was not an accident...". I love these kind of easter eggs. That also justifies Cinder as the singer of the song, so that was a nice guess. However, "Mirror Mirror (Part II)" is indeed about Weiss and not Winter, since it's the continuation of her theme song, "Mirror Mirror". My favorite song would be "Divide". Try to keep the lyrics of that one in mind as they'll make more and more sense throughout the show!

I feel like Volume 3 is about coming into your own person, discovering who you are. And the biggest example of this aside from Pyrrha is Weiss. Both "It's My Turn" and "Mirror, Mirror Pt.2" help us to understand a little more of Weiss's home life and how oppressive her father was on her. Weiss constantly talking into the proverbial mirror is her want to be her own person, but being constantly haunted by her father's seemingly inescapable shadow. And to help you guys understand, her father is Jacques and he married into the family in order to run the company after Weiss's grandfather Nicholas became sick due to dust poisoning. But ultimately the dichotomy is that even after everything she did to try and leave to become independent, her father comes and takes her back against her will and wishes at the end of the Volume. But don't worry, this is definitely not the last time you'll hear Weiss singing about her dyfunctional home life.

A couple of notes about some of the tracks: When it Falls refers to a line “this is not an accident” which is exactly what Cinder said in her speech. Mirror Mirror Part 2, the second song in the vein, is not actually about Winter, but it is another Weiss song, examining her inner self doubt and is a sequel to her original track from the White Trailer. Cold, the final track, is a dual reference - obviously it’s from Jaune to Pyrrha but it’s also a tribute to Monty Oum, the creator of the series, who unexpectedly passed away during V3’s production. The line about moving forward is a reference to his slogan, “keep moving forward,” which CRWBY uses even today. The line about “but your star’s still in the sky,” is a reference to an actual star - a fan named a star after him and sent the certificate to Rooster Teeth. Now that we’ve gotten all good and depressed, you should watch S1 of RWBY Chibi as it came out now before V4 aired. Use the RT website for this show, as KZbin doesn’t have all the footage. I recommend four at a time. As I’ve mentioned before, after that there’s 8 WORs and 1 character short to check out before starting V4.

Fun lyrical fact about "I'm the One" that i'm not sure was intentional or not, but "i was ripped from the earth and exposed to the sun" tickles the chemistry nerd in me because elemental mercury only really becomes a danger when taken out of the earth and exposed to air/water/sunlight as it becomes liquid at room temperature and can evaporate into toxic vapour. Thus it signifies (at least in my mind) that Mercury's father abusing him and violating his innocence and exposing him to the reality of what people can be is what turned him into the dickbag we all love to hate. Pretty obvious now that i'm typing it out but i always appreciate nuances like that instead of falling back on "they were born evil".

Alright here we go: - When It Falls - The V3 OP and honestly my least favorite of the openings. This whole soundtrack is actually the one I like the least. The songs are fine just not my faves. - I’m the One - This one appeared in episode 4 during the Em and Merc vs Coco and Yatsu fight. Basically giving us an Em and Merc song. - It’s My Turn - Appeared in episode 1 during the RWBY vs ABRN fight. Yeah, really getting a look into Weiss’ home situation. Also so far the only one that doesn’t fit the Mirror storyline. - Not Fall in Love With You - This appeared very briefly and very in the background after the SSSN VS NDGO fight in episode 2. It’s actually a song Jeff wrote with his band back in the day and they decided to use it for the show. - Neon - Appeared in episode 5 as you guessed, during the Flynt and Neon vs WY fight. Fun little dance mix. - Mirror Mirror pt 2 - Another Weiss song that appeared at the end of episode 4. Very nice, sad with a hopeful end. Short, sweet, and to the point. - Divide - First of the End credits songs and the only song of this volume I downloaded because it’s a banger. Awesome villain theme. - Cold - The second credits song and it’s actually a tribute to Monty. Could fit Jaune and Pyrrha but was indeed written for Monty.

Divide is a song that I already loved from the get go, but just loved even more and more over time. Same applies to Sacrifice and Time to Say Goodbye from Volume 2 by the way, I forgot to leave comments in that video. Not only is Divide an amazing villain song to characterize Salem, it's also one of the hardest hitting ones. Just look at lines like: "It was you who ended their lives Made them to dig their own graves With your dark, sick, cruel, design Convinced them their world could be saved" or "Divide them Tear them apart Sever their trust It will strangle their hearts"

Divide is one of my favorite villain songs, because it's about more than simple physical cruelty. That second verse is a vicious psych attack on her opponent: all this death and suffering is really _your_ fault, for giving people hope and training them to resist me. People hate the light that fails far more than they hate the darkness itself.

"Some believe in fairy stories And the ghosts that they can't see I know that I could do so much If I could just believe in me" Like I said, Weiss' songs go DEEP. These lines in particular are a favorite of mine, because it's something I strongly feel myself. I've always described myself as somewhat arrogant, but with horrible self esteem. People often find that to be an odd description since those things sound contradictory, but this line is a perfect example of what I mean with it. I look at myself and objectively compliment several things about me, but can still find no confidence in them regardless. I believe myself to be very intelligent and talented, yet I can't believe in myself to actually make use of those qualities in any real way, mostly because I look at my own flaws and feel like they cripple and overweight my qualities. Hopefully I'll manage to fix that atrocious self esteem of mine one day, but for now this part of the song hits really close to home. Now that I think about it, it's kinda funny that so many of Weiss' songs often resonate with me this much, since she's the character most defined for having a horrible childhood and relationship with her family, and I'm someone with great parents who was raised very well.

I had listened to the music for a while but I never really looked at the lyrics, definitely some things to think about there. 'Cold' I believe was also for Monty Oum I appreciate how it just ends abruptly to signify a person's death through music. The only other time I've seen this done is in Mulan when they are marching and then it all stops abruptly when they see the massacre that befell the village. I'm the one is a really good song, but not one that particularly stands out to me among the RWBY tracks... Is what I WOULD say, if it wasn't for: "I'm the one that your mama said: 'Don't mess with them or you'll end up dead'" and "I'm the one, that was stripped from the earth and exposed to the sun!" Both lines I absolutely love, for completely different reasons. The first just made me laugh way too hard, and the second is both really cool sounding, and smart with the parallel it makes to Mercury loosing his legs (stripped from the earth) and meeting Cinder (exposed to the sun).
