My theory is she’s the old Alex, the Alex left behind. Because they say If you leave the ever after, you leave a piece of yourself behind. Which would explain why she suddenly had a “character change” after taking the herbal tea. She became another version of herself. And the “real” Alex stayed behind and became the blacksmith.

Ok so um… I have a theory Jaune is going to die. Before I get roasted lol, here’s why: There is an old story about a jabberwalkie (or however you spell it) that is described exactly as it’s portrayed in here, the story also describes a knight in old armor, with a broken sword. Eventually the monster is killed, but in return the knight is killed by the monster. Now while they may vary it away from that story, think about jaune in the opening. First it shows normal jaune in front of working clocks, then in an instant it switches to a silhouette of jaune against stopped clocks on a white background, possibly symbolizing his life has come to an end

Also. Juane is based on joan of arc. Who did not die live long. Now normally i wouldn't be bothered by reference deaths. But then we have Pyrrha. And Penny. But there is a historical suspicion that Joan was smuggled away from her execution and fled the country to live out her days in peace. Also yes the Jabberwocky myth doesn't end super well for the knight, usually. So I think you're on to something. I also think that Juane might make a deeper sacrifice... Or already has made one, by giving up who he was, he no longer will return home. Or maybe flat out can't. He might elect to stay behind to secure this place, and keep being the rusted knight. Perhaps to keep The Jabber Walker in check. Resigning himself to a cyclic life, never letting himself truly die, and thus remaining cut off from The afterlife. Becoming both a dead martyr, and a someone who fled into obscurity. I feel like it could go either way.

Also the clocks could simply symbolize how time stopped for him here, trapping him in the everafter, for far longer perhaps even than it seems by his age

Haven't seen Ch 6 yet, but want to dump my head canon somewhere. I think Ruby will ascend to renew her purpose. By choice, possibly dragging Neo with her, since Neo's only 'purpose' now seems to be to kill Ruby. I suspect she'll come back older, like Jaune. An archetypal Silver-eyed warrior, wise enough to accept that doing the right thing doesn't guarantee victory, and do it anyway. I think she'll accept a new weapon from the blacksmith lady as part of that change. I think they'll come out of the tree near the Vacuo portal location, soon enough after that disappears to help Winter protect the people from Mantle and Atlas. I think Jaune will pick up the sword of destruction, mirroring the king from the Great War. He more than any knows the cost of destruction, he seems a good choice to ensure it's not overused. Possibly he'll get the crown too, later.

Although it is upsetting (and frustrating) to see the random clips on KZbin concerning the next (current) chapter, I have to accept that I only have myself to blame for it. It isn’t as though I haven’t had to deal with it in previous volumes of RWBY. I just have to suck it up and deal with it. Now that my whining is over… -Chapter 5: The Parfait Predicament -RWBY quote of the chapter _“Nothing, no one, is ever truly lost.” (The Blacksmith)_ Couldn’t help, but recall of the words of Luke Skywalker in SW:VIII… -Speaking in Riddles Not in the least surprised that Curious speaks to the team the way he does. Given the place as well as the inspiration for it, it is no surprise that the team (and the viewer) is typically left in a case of confusion. So we only left with trying to understand what we do know. One such thing is the view of death. Apparently in the Ever After, death is not a concept they exist it. Instead, they have what they call ascension, where the people leave to return to be who they were meant to be. Apparently, that is what happened to the Red King/Prince. It’s an odd chicken-egg concept. And while it is confusion, it may also be the key to healing Ruby’s current fragile state. However the Jabbywokky seems to be this world version of the Grimm. Everyone, even Curious was afraid of it, as it has the ability to stop ascension. The team themselves weren’t completely afraid of it (Yang was actually attacking it in first viewing), but it (or rather, they) did leave destruction to their wake that Weiss commented on. It is actually similar to Jaune’s comment in Volume 4 after the destruction of the village and the death of the remaining Huntsman. _“I’m just tired of losing everything…”_ -The Blacksmith Well, that became dark really fast, doubly so if even Little is wary of the situation. But it does call to mind Ruby’s love of weapons though. Still, this does bring back an earlier theory that this place is not just a fairytale, but also Ruby’s fairytale. For one, it does call to mind Ruby’s love of weapons. And for another, the Blacksmith inquires about her current mental state, whether if she is lost, quite the symbolism considering Crescent Rose is also lost to her. And all the weapons she focused on where those that were connected to a person she cared about or are linked to in some way, which change upon her thoughts. Penny’s Blade, Alyx Knife, and Summer’s weapon. From the looks of it, it is likely a triple form weapon similar Qrow’s Harbringer (Sword/Scythe/Shotgun). Summer’s seems to be a Tomahawk/Scythe/Gun. -Parfait Attack Clearly, yet another reference to _Alice in Wonderland_ when she had to eat and drink items which changed her size (Eat Me, Drink Me). But of great import was the fact that, when obtaining the items to create the parfait, Ruby bartered her medallion, saying that it contains a mother’s promise. So this was something Summer had left to Ruby, likely just before she disappeared. Was it a broken promise of her return which didn’t happen, or perhaps something else? It might be tied to the lyrics of _Red Like Roses II_ in Volume 1. -Neo’s influence Well, this raised the threat level up a notch. What was a single creature of a significant threat for the people of the Ever After has turned into an unknown number of creatures of an even greater threat. The fact that they are clones created by Neo leaves a good deal of questions, the least of which is the nature of her evolved Semblence. It seems that she can replicate not only herself, but others at her choosing as well. And they appear to have the same abilities as the host as well. Curious was clearly afraid upon seeing them in multiples and had already been worried about their ability to stop people from ascending. It looks like Blake didn’t have to worry about starting a war; it had already started… -The Rusted Knight Naturally, it only a matter of time before Jaune made an appearance, but in a way that was quite unexpected. While this more than confirms to difference in this place with regards to time, it seems to be more than that. Time seems to skip with people as well. It was odd that although Jaune was last to fall into the void, yet he has been there long enough to be an adult (with an elk named Juniper and the warrior’s wolf tail hair to add), but him being the Rusted Knight, a character of the story itself (that Blake immediately recognized) is more than telling. It would mean that he was there longer than he was even alive in Remnant. Was he there during Alyx (used to write it Aless) descent and the war? Likely, although it possible that his presence may have skipped from time and place given that both work oddly here. It may be that each chapter of the story takes place in separate timelines. It made me think of The Nexus in _Star Trek: Generations._
