One of my favorite things about your videos is how you use all the wonderful sound effects and music from various N64 games, regardless of what game is actually being shown, but also using it in a way that makes sense contextually. I love it. All the ringtones and text tones on my phone are from SNES and N64 games. They just hit me right in the nostalgia in the best of ways.

Between this discovery and the recreation of my fluke 1997 full-lap skip in Wario Stadium both happening last week, these are indeed interesting times. When I found the original Turnpike half-lap skip in March 1997, I kept trying other areas, even looking for full-lap skips to no avail. I still believe there may be yet another full-lap skip method. Also at one of the annual Virginia meets, I managed to get stuck on the Turnpike guardrail at the beginning on the Japanese 1.0 version seemingly indefinitely (at least one hour confirmed before giving up.) Given how the warp methods we are used to on US NTSC and on PAL don’t work on Japanese 1.0, it is quite possible in theory that something else works exclusively on that version.

We were completely mind blown and were laughing our ass off. I have never to this day see the glitch happen again nor did i ever read anything about it on the internet.

You're probably right on the money about it being a Dam :53 situation but I think time will tell if that's truly the theoretical max. Runners pull off impressive feats when grinding.
@88porpoise4 жыл бұрын
It wasn’t the theoretical max. It wasn’t even close. They figured out a way to pull it off without lakitu recovering you and wasting all that time, the flap record is now 1.15 seconds. The other thing about Dam 53 is that it was a relatively easy time to hit for a skilled player. If the optimal run requires enough luck and/or skill it may not see that many ties.
