It's incredible how people are still finding new shortcuts in this game even after nearly 25 years. Also I have a theory of a potential lap skip in Moo Moo Farm, which might only work in Grand Prix mode. You get near the finish line, with triple reds and face the banner backwards. Then drive towards the fence, use a red shell, knock yourself into it, and clear the fence. if you land at the right point and go far enough, the lap could count. I haven't gotten this to work on emulator yet, but, I am a very bad player, not using tools, and a mobile user. Maybe it could happen one day.

Reverse engineering efforts for these games have gone to light speed last few years. Thanks to Ghidra (a FREE code disassembler) we don't have to do this stuff the hard way anymore, we can just thwack it with the tool and see all the internal code laid out for us, from there it's just a matter of putting together a plugin to visualize the internal mess. Yeah it's still a lot of work, but a fraction of what it took just a few short years ago.

It is unreal if you really start thinking about speedrunning - people spend YEARS on experimenting how to break a game in order to cut down the playthorugh time at times a few tenths or hundreths of a second. Makes me feel 10x better about all the time I have spent on gaming because such quest is fascianating and utterly useless at the same time. True, there are a few Twitch streamers and YT who most likely have made a buck or two out of it but a large portion of people mentioned in the videos here are completely anonymous too. In short - as a gamer and a competitive person I wholly understand it on the one hand and find it ridiculous on the other.

I actually kinda like the idea of a sniper ghost. It would be cool if RareWare actually did program a scary Easter egg like that in one of these games, in an area that you aren't likely to stray into during serious playthrough attempts. If it is some out-of-the-way area like the Punk Pond or something then it could definitely be cool to have a random sniper ghost or some other mysterious events that would trigger maybe 0.001% of the times or so.

I thought the penguin bouncing shenanigans were common knowledge for 150cc when I showed it to people many years back, though I didn’t believe it would save time in that mode (and I was never successful in pulling off the minor time save in time trial mode, unfortunately.) The same physics apply to the sideways Thwomps (and consequently through the walls) in Bowser Castle, so someone might be able to make something out of it someday. Anyway, the Sherbet Land time trial lap skips are definitely new, so major kudos to those who made it happen.

The only reason people like goose have one is they send free ones to sponsored channels.
