How nice to hear a comp demo with something other than strumming with the bridge pickup only.

Interesting about the guy in the store. I still have my first Dyna Comp and I love it maxed out for fake pedal steel swells. I fact there's an old video of mine with exactly that effect but I can't remember what I called it....Hahahahaha You say you use the - or see them - as an effect but I think you are using them quite subtly in a studio fashion, to stop things from 'popping' out when you do intricate picking patterns. The compressor on my board these days is the Barber Tone Press (you know i love Barber Pedals) which has the main thing missing from the MXR which is a mix control to bring back the leading edge of the note. To be honest though, unless I'm doing strumming or picking for a loop, I almost never use compression simply because I enjoy the up and down of dynamics too much

Having started on acoustic guitar my fingers and picking are fairly controlled so a compressor is not too needed. I mostly use mine for that squashed 80s & funk sound. That Keeley is the most controllable of these 3 & if I were to go "always on" it would be my choice. I'll take a look at that barber pedal due to your recommendation. Thanks for watching

Try before you buy Wayne. Don't listen to me...Hahahahaha The only compressor I would actively recommend because it is just so very classy is the Origin Effects Cali76. If I were really using compression peoperly and/or playing electric slide a lot that is the one I'd need to have

so i look far a cheap one (thats the yellow comp) for blues and blues rock playing. Do you think that mooer will give me that attack with not much compression?
@WayneMemphisMojo4 жыл бұрын
The Mooer is a great compression pedal ... it's an optical compressor so it's different than the Dyna Comp
@Kineticartist5 жыл бұрын
not much of an "effect" just leveling sustain is already there the compressor just levels up the weaker volume so you hear more of the sustain for longer nice video these pedals would be real useful in a live situation
@WayneMemphisMojo5 жыл бұрын
Live is a good situation for these pedals, thanks for watching Steve

very good ears/eyes ... I took the entire voice audio from the iPad camera. I forgot to plug the microphone near my face in when I started recording.

MXR studio compressor (also called MXR Bass compressor) has near-studio adjustability. Don't know much else about it.
@WayneMemphisMojo3 жыл бұрын
I'll check into it, thanks for the tip.

@@WayneMemphisMojo They had what they called the MXR Bass Compressor for a while, and when they learned that guitarists were using it too, they started offering it with the name "Studio Compressor", (exact same pedal, just a different name). Five controls- Release Attack Ratio Output Input Quite interesting.... Thanks 😊
