Just as an FYI, it's water physics that kills FPS around water in RDR2. It does look AMAZING if you throw dynamite in water & watch it react, or even run in circles to create a whirlpool though! If you drop the water physics bar down by even 1 single notch it can literally DOUBLE your FPS around water & still have almost no noticeable difference visually.

wow the driver of amd or the red dead redemption 2 was optimized because I am getting 67fps in ultra with tree tessalation turned on and fxaa and msaa. with my rx 5700 xt and ryzen 5 3500 combo.

I was playing in Ultra with 5700xt getting 60FPS and then the game kept crashing during one of the first cinematic scenes. Then i dropped to medium, and it makes a huge difference. The game does look different. You don't need 100+FPS in this game, but if that's the only way to make the game not crash, and GPU not sound like an explosion waiting to happen, sacrifices must be made lol.

5700xt is really great card,i can play 4K high and 30fps lock and you get native 4K experience

Actually, you can get optimized 4k ULTRA 30 fps lock with 0.1% ABOVE 30 fps. Water physics 3/4 or even 2/4, water refraction med, full SSAO resolution off, grass 8/10 and tree tessellation off. This will net you stable 30 FPS 4k locked 0.1% above 30 fps. These mentioned options are complete resource eaters ESPECIALLY 4/4 water physics yet it doesn't give eye candiness at all. I tested 4/4 water physics and waves are just slightly bigger with "micro" waves but all of these are completely unecessary as it completely looks unreal how water physics renders at 4/4 when i took the swim. For an added 30 FPS stable drop that screen space reflection to medium as many glasses don't have proper reflection qualities to it and it just looks like mirror (doesn't look proper as when you stare at it it still has some fake reflections baked in while real time reflections are just of clear quality and you won't be able to see the definition of it anyway).

@@joer8854 I rather want better image quality then 60 fps for the story mode. For the online i will get the settings optimized for locked 60 fps. But with 30 fps i can make it look twice as good and i just can't stop looking at it. Looks so gorgeous. And literally 5700xt is the perfect 4k 30 fps ultra locked GPU as for 4k 60 fps you have to sacrifice quite a bunch to get locked 60 fps no drops and on ultra 4k minimum 1% and 0.1% don't go bellow 30 fps except in RDR2 where you still have to optimize but it is almost there at the top on ultra. Had to sacrifice tiny bit of resolution and sett8ngs like reflection quality to med ssao to med no high ress ssao turned off motion blur and it hangs locked 30 fps. Grass is 10/10 all shadows maxed etc. I need to balance out 1620p 60 fps locked for online will try with xbox 1 x settings first and see where it stands. :D

First, Ryzen 3400G + 450B chipset + 1660 super 6gb (Asus) + 16mb : Lowest of the Balanced setting, Min 29 - Avg 34 - Max 41. Second, Ryzen 3700x + X570 chipset + 5700XT 8gb(Sapphire Pulse) + 16Mb : Second Lowest of the Preferred Quality, Min 29 - Avg 35 - Max 47. If you have 4K monitor, 1080p or 1440p looks quite soft especially grass sharpness. However, if your focus is just playing smooth 1660 super is good choice. At 1440p Ultra setting, it's Min 17 - Avg 33 - Max 60. Min looks very low but the actual experience was very very smooth.

It's 2023, and FSR Quality gave me 60+ FPS in 1440P / textures and settings mostly on ultra. In many demanding scenarios as with Cyberpunk, RDR2 and RE4, this is a very competent 1440p card.

I'm playing on the third best Ultra preset and averaging 63 fps in 1440p. I have a measly Ryzen 5 1600 CPU and I had to underclock the card a little because it was overheating. Recent drivers must have improved things significantly. 63 fps with this game is pretty dang stunning.

You don't have to underclock the card. You just have to dust it off. Cards don't overheat unless you overclock them extremely (which require hacked bios for unlocked voltage). GPUs run 100% load 24/7 without overheating. You need to blow off the dust man. GPUs and processors in general are designed to run at 80 degrees 24/7.

The RX 580\Polaris might be the best bang for buck graphics solution of the decade, but, that RX 5700XT sure is tempting. We will see what prices look like after Big Navi and Ryzen 4000 series cpus are released later in 2020. Then again, the AMD APU might just blow everyone's mind, once RNDA2 is fully implemented with PCIe Gen 4\5 nvme support like the PS5.

Btw, i've this build with same specs as yours more or less (ryzen 3700x, rx 5700 xt mech oc (2 fans), 16gb ram) and when i played watch dogs 2, i experienced 60-70ish of gpu temperature and vram, but i noticed i've higher gpu memory temperature for about 80ish, dont know if this normal but do you experience this kind of temperature on your gpu memory?

That's normal, MSI mech doesn't have the best cooler but it's 80-86C is still fine for vram temps :)

I have an rx 5700 xt paired with an old ryzen 7 1800x (upgrade in a few weeks to 3800x) and I'm running 1440p ultra (vulkan, water physics only at 2nd level since it's an fps guzzler and particle lighting at high, taa medium at max sharpening) and I'm running at around 47-50 fps average so the patches since this video really helped apparently.

It's difficult to say, but I think this game runs about 5 to 10% better on Linux than Windows. I just ran your same settings on 1080p ultra. My hand tends to stay above 50 fps more than yours and also, dipped to 33/34 by water where yours dipped lower. It's hard to say for sure. Would be better if you did the canned benchmark so I could easily compare.

Yeah, just bought my 5700xt and it really has an attitude of ALMOST crashing all the time. Especially after 30 minutes off gameplay. That's with the fan full time 80% and only 1080p Ultra maximized settings. Meaning the meaningless settings are turned down to high for better performance. Card never reaches 65C but still acts glitchy all the time @ 80-100FPS... My 1070GTX acted better on ALL ULTRA/high than the 5700xt does, even though in Denis brought the 1070 down to 48FPS... Fresh windows install and newest Adrenaline 20.2.1 drivers no settings turned on and only an 1825 overclock of the memory... 1825 actually feels and looks smoother than the stock 1750...

the graphics settings in RDR2 are a pain in the balls to navigate. It's a pity that you can't save your graphics settings so then you can mess around with them, but know you can always revert back to your original settings with the click of a button. the default settings are crap.
