His music is food for the soul. What a music treasure! None better than this group ☮️

Seen Ry seven times over the course of 30 years. He's influenced me greatly, his playing, his INTEGRITY, shines during his performances as well as on his recordings. I remember most of these performances in great detail. They are all different and all profound in their own ways. Peace and Love to you Ry, and all peace and music loving brethren and sisters all over this musical earth.

Wow--does it get any better than this? tight, tight band and a backup group with a bass singer who just about knocks the fillings out of my teeth! What a treasure we have in Ry Cooder. Thanks for the posting of this live version.

Ry Cooder,a legend and genius of rhythem and blue's..the best entertainment and performance in front of his fans center stage world wide..a great singer and solo artist..great backup singers and great with with his slider on guitar at any given time..always on track of his melody ..never forgotten

Ry Cooder, musical genius. One of the greatest guitar players ever. The real test of a great guitarist is “how many of the so called greats could do what Cooder does?” Few.

Oh yes Harry Dean Stanton just being old as time , Ry, Flaco, Jimmy Keltner on drums and his fab back up singers, all known each other for years , brilliant

Best intro ever. Plus, his "Crossroads" soundtrack( the Ralph Machio movie, not the Brittany Spears one) is STILL one of the best progressive blues albums ever. Check it out if you are unfamiliar. For reals.

If you like this, check out Bop Til You Drop. The whole album is amazing. And his film scores for Paris Texas [with Harry Dean Stanton, the guy who introduces this video],and Southern Comfort, are sublime. Wim Wenders,an Academy Award nominated director, talked Ry into doing the music for Paris Texas.Ry would later talk Wim into directing the Buena Vista Social Club,Ry's musical collaboration with Cuban musicians. It would be nominated for another Academy Award for best documentary.

I swear, everytime I look at this cut, El Toucan, Puerto Vallarta, 1980´s. Full of corn fed farm girls from Nebraska on their way to Nicaragua. No wonder that revolt failed. But what a great bar.

Black and white intro is from the original full video for this song. Hard to find a good quality copy of it online, but definitely worth searching for. That original video was produced by Michelle Manning, directed by David Fincher, with cinematography by Jack Wallner, and not sure who edited it.

Yeah, it's a real film rather than just a music video. Much tighter editing also. The shoeshine boy in it is Ry's son, Joachim when he was very young, and both in that and in this the alto sax is a Grafton plastic sax, which is a collector's item and rarely played anymore. Charley Parker played one, which makes it doubly significant.

Fecking sweet - Cooder cooks like a cast-iron casserole; the solo is almost note for note from the album version, but pips it at the end. Got some nice bass-lines there too. Does it get better than this? Me no think so.........
