I really enjoyed watching this and I am proud to say that I have all of the albums highlighted. Ry Cooder played Newcastle upon Tyne in 1981 and he was so good that I became hooked. I love the "Talking Timbuktu" record - it grows and grows and. several of my friends have gone out and purchased it. Have a great day everyone and thanks Norman for posting this video...

I just found a nice promo LP copy of Ry Cooder's Jazz album and was looking up reviews on youtube. I saw your thumbnail to this video showing you holding multiple copies of Jazz and watched the whole thing. Just subscribed and watched all of your videos. You and I are the same age (born in '54) and share a lot of the same tastes in vinyl. I have been a Ry Cooder fan since Safe As Milk but don't have nearly as many albums as you. Looking forward to seeing more vinyl and music related videos from you. Peace...

I’m going through a Ry Cooder renaissance. This video came up in my feed as a result. It was interesting to see how the VC has evolved in six years. All those cool different pressings and no talk of the Best, even with the Mofi. I just picked up the first four on reprise label OG’s. One is white promo, they all sound Amazing. Mazzy you look young and fresh, l remember now why l watched you so long. Ry Cooder is a Living Legend ❤😊

The only thing I regret it's for the fact I only started hearing Ry Cooder 5 years ago. He is superb!

So cool you gave a Ry Cooder overview. A Musician's Musician, if you will. A broad discography that is easy to collect and affordable. Paradise, Chicken Skin, and Show Time are all great entry points. Thanks Mazzy!

The John Hiatt album you refer to is "Bring the Family" - an automatic purchase for any Cooder fan or just anyone with taste, really! A home isn't complete without a copy.......

Very nice look at Ry's career Mazzy. I have a lot of these records though I have some gaps I still need to fill. My favourite is the slide solo on Borderline on Get Rhythm. Would love to catch Ry live one day.

Right on, Mazzy! Also “A Meeting by the River” with Vishnu Moran Bhat. And the sound track from the Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon “Dead Man Walking”

I'm checking out your early videos. I should have known about this video before I did mine. Ry doesn't get much love in the VC. Randy Newman lived in the New Orleans area for a short time when he was young. I ordered the John Hiatt album. You and I are probably his two biggest fans. I have most of his later stuff on CD. I'm impressed.

This is what I love about these videos, for someone to talk so enthusiastically about a musician, makes me wants to seek them out and find out more about them......Will definitely seek out his music because of this video.

Ry - one of the very few who could convincingly catch Joseph Spence's very syncopated sound, - Ry tunes down real low to get that punchy snap on acoustic I think, - good vid! Peace.

I have also been a fan of Ry Cooder for many years though I would say his albums are very hit and miss but that's more because of musical taste more than his playing. My Favorite by a long shot is the Album Jazz I love that album and than most his Albums for the 70s after that. I'm Friends with Pamela Polland and they were very good friends and played together when he was just starting out and he played on her couple solo albums in the early 70s. There is available some early recording of them together from back in 1964 when he was like 17. Live at Ash Grove worth checking out. Thanks for the great info about his Albums

Hi Mazzy, My favorite if I would have to choose would be Eric Clapton. Jeff Beck and Carlos Santana. Yes, I have a deep admiration although not totally familiar with his material. Incredible how wide ranging his appearances and his catalog is. Thank you and keep well, dear angel of this medium. Tino

Going through your old vids Mazzy, it's amazing that just a few years ago you didn't know anyone in the VC and were saying no-one was watching or commenting! Well...the boy done good! You musta done something right! ;)

Thank you. Yeah three years later.....

@@mazzysmusic Well deserved! Someone who can talk audiophile...but not be snooty. Someone who can say "Meh...just get a CD" now and then.

Read Cooder's collection of short stories, "Los Angeles Stories." Then listen to "Chavez Ravine," the Dodger Stadium album you mentioned but didn't name. It's a great two-fer.

I once printed out a list of all the albums that Ry Cooder has played on (Wikipedia?) I think there were about 140?...I have managed to amass about 40 of them. The soundtracks are pretty easy to find and not expensive....others are very rare and very expensive as you mentoned. Its fun to hit a new store and head to the C sections...then to Soundtracks...then to International!!!

Crossroads is a fantastic album (soundtrack), similar to Paris Texas, but better.
