I still listen to this album from beginning to end. Prisoner is a songwriting masterpiece.

Probably his most conceptual record to date. Every brilliant track comes together to tell a cohesive, relatable story of a disintegrating relationship.

To me, Ryan Adams might be the one and only new living link to the classic rock era. He has taken a little bit from all the greats and made it his own

I hadn't listened to Ryan Adams before getting Prisoner last week and I love it, what would you recommend as a second album to pick up?
@caseycipriano578 жыл бұрын
consider picking up "Gold" or "Love is Hell". Some of his strongest songs come from those two albums and I consider them classics!
@paulhobbs91238 жыл бұрын
cold roses has been long considered his greatest album. pick it up and enjoy greatness. also second love is hell. would also throw in heartbreaker and easy tiger.

Jack White is definitely the best one right now, but Ryan is up there right behind him with Josh Homme.

This amazes my wrap-around linear perception of the faithfulness( to the letter) that Ryan adheres to rendering my lyrics: I actually had not edited that thoroughly for the 30+ year accumulation of my storylines that he sourced…I see lyrics I would have rearranged….and Adams does rearrange musically and isn’t that a task with the volume of his production melodically ?

Brilliant and confident songwriter. I love this heartbreaking album. So refreshing to hear great stripped down songs instead of all the garbage that's coming out these days.

Wow. It is so wonderful to actually hear an artist talk about their songs like this in such an intimate way. To Be Without You is the most personal song on the album, you can tell its hard for him to talk about. Thats why its my favorite song on the album because we have all been there at some point or another; hell, I'm there right now... Thank you Ryan for giving me comfort through your music and lyrics, you have truly helped me and for that I am greatful.

Judezki92 1989 was a track by track cover of Taylor Swift's album actually. They weren't his songs, but he covered it.

You expect insightful analysis like this from an artist who, in terms of the consistent high quality of his work and, hopefully, a lengthy future of same, can already be considered, arguably I suppose, as the greatest composer/singer in the history of American popular music. You just can't find enough superlatives to describe what this guy is in the process of accomplishing.

Great piece, ruined by youtube inserting 4 ads in the 17+ minutes. Awful. Ryan probably would be able to write a great song about the mighty youtube interrupting art with needless commercials.

"Shiver and Shake" about the girl he dated while he was in the process of getting divorced from Mandy Moore??? Not buying that for a second. It's such a raw vulnerable song he doesn't want to publicly admit it's about Mandy Moore. Understandable.
@13cgyetvai7 жыл бұрын
Ivan Lendl it is about another girl dude. It's about Natalie prass. He dated her for a short minute after. He had photos of them a lot on his Instagram but took them down and she also did the same with her photos of them together.
@IvanLendl876 жыл бұрын
Chris Gyetvai Ryan also told people on Twitter several months back that he he'd never listened to The Beatles until just that moment. And he went on about it for a few days. And some people actually believed that. He misleads - sometimes to protect his privacy and other times just to mess with people to watch them flip out.
@siva418 Жыл бұрын
Pretty much everything I want to say about this video, this album, and Ryan himself is going to sound cheesy and cliché, so I'll just say: This has changed me. Damn. Still cliché. Oh well. Still true.
